Redbus changes name to Helkon SK

REDBUS CHANGES NAME TO HELKON SK TO REFLECT IT’S PAN EUROPEAN PARTNERSHIP
WITH HELKON MEDIA AG.

MAKES AN ACQUISITION A DAY IN EARLY BUYING SPREE AT CANNES.

Embargoed for publication until Friday May 11th 2001

Cannes Friday May 11th 2001: Redbus Film Distribution co-founders Simon Franks
and Zygi Kamasa have announced that they have changed their name to Helkon SK in
order to identify the company with its partner, Helkon Media AG.

Stewart Till, who was a director of former Redbus parent Filmgroup, will be joining the
new Helkon SK board. He is no longer involved with Filmgroup.

"We had agreed that we would keep the Redbus name, however since Zygi and I have
become more involved with Helkon’s European plans we felt it made perfect sense to
change our name, adding the SK to keep our own identity. The SK combines an initial
from each of our names. We have had such a successful and profitable start to the
year, combined with Helkon Media’s continued profitability, that we hope we will soon
be building a European operation of significant size.” commented Simon Franks

Helkon SK have continued their aggressive buying strategy with the acquisition of
three more titles since the start of Cannes. They are Ed Burns’ new gangster thriller
Ash Wednesday starring Burns and Lord of the Rings lead Elijah Wood, the Steven
Soderbergh & George Clooney produced Welcome to Collinwood, which stars William H
Macy as well as Clooney, and the Francis Ford Coppola produced horror thriller Jeepers
Creepers.

Helkon SK also announces that they entered into their first co-production, Gurinder
Chadha’s Bend it Like Beckham, which The Sales Company has launched earlier this
week. This is the first project from SK since it announced it was going into production
and development last month.

Commenting on the acquisitions Helkons SK’s COO, Zygi Kamasa added;

"We are maintaining the pace of our acquisitions here in Cannes as we seek to
maintain a balanced, talent driven release slate for the next 18 months or so. Many
of our acquisitions follow the same talent, for instance we are releasing Ed Burns
Sidewalks of New York in a few months, and look forward to working with him again on
Ash Wednesday. We will try to build long-term relationships with all our film-makers.”

Helkon SK’s current release, Sam Raimi’s The Gift, looks set to gross US$7million in
the UK theatrically this month. The company also announced a slate of high profile
films acquired at the recent AFM, including the Richard Gere starrer "The Mothman
Prophecies”, as well as Tommy Lee Jones and Oscar Winner Benicio Del Toro’s
upcoming "Hunted”.
.
Redbus Film Distribution was formed in 1998 by Simon Franks and Zygi Kamasa, and
quickly established itself as one of the leading independent distributors in the UK.
So far in 2001 Redbus has released David Mamet’s State and Main, the Gene
Hackman & Morgan Freemen starrer Under Suspicion, and their recent hit Sam Raimi’s
The Gift. They anticipate releasing 10 films in 2001 and 15 films annually thereafter.
