Mainframe Rehosting Software Solution Brain Force Software and Sun Microsystems agree a partnership

Vienna, 08 July 2002 - With its mainframe rehosting software solution, Sun Microsystems has so far migrated in excess of 500 million lines of COBOL code in 300 companies. In cooperation with system integrators and channel partners, Sun provides support in modernising IT Infrastructures to companies and institutions around the globe in various branches of industry, thereby realising cost savings of up to 70 percent. In future, Brain Force Software will work with Sun Microsystems on mainframe rehosting projects.

Mainframe transaction processing (MTP) software, an implementation of CICS from Sun-Solaris and the batch manager (MBM), constitutes a core component of the Sun mainframe rehosting project. This solution enables customers to integrate existing CICS, COBOL and batch mainframe applications - frequently used in the banking, insurance, retail and manufacturing areas - virtually unchanged into a state-of-the-art IT environment.

Brain Force Software can point to 18 years of project experience in the mainframe area combined with a specialist knowledge of the banking and insurance system. The Service Center Programming Services, with the Application Management Services competence unit, was founded at the start of the year in order to specialise in the running of application systems. This competence unit closed its first major order of EUR 4.4 million (see ad-hoc dated 11.6.) with SPARDAT (IT service provider for Erste Bank and the Austrian savings bank group). Now the range of offers will be greatly expanded through the mainframe rehosting partnership with Sun Microsystems. The considerable potential for savings opened up to mainframe customers through these projects is expected to generate many new orders, even in the current recession-hit economic climate. The first joint projects are scheduled to begin shortly.
