Internet Content Provider Sino-I.Com Inks IBM
Web-Site Software Deal

HONG KONG -- Sino-i.com Ltd. said Monday it will use software
provided by International Business Machines Corp. for its
business-to-business electronic-commerce Web site.

With the software, the ChinaEnterprise.com site will be able to facilitate
electronic transactions between small- to medium-sized companies in
mainland China entirely in Chinese. The site will be operational by the third
quarter of this year.

The subscriber-based Web site matches buyers and sellers in mainland
China online for more than 15,000 products ranging from garments to
tractors. The Web site also maintains a database of 600,000 mainland
Chinese enterprises, the Chinese Internet content provider`s chief executive,
P.H. Yu, said, adding that the company expects "around US$1 billion worth
of goods to be procured through the Web site in 2000."

The chief executive also said the company plans to invest 100 million Hong
Kong dollars (US$12.9 million) in the site over the next 12 to 18 months.

Henry Chow, chairman and chief executive of IBM Greater China Group,
said the tie-up with Sino-i.com isn`t exclusive, and IBM (IBM) "wouldn`t
rule out similar ventures with other mainland companies aiming to expand
business-to-business e-commerce in China."

Sino-i.com generates revenue by charging participating mainland Chinese
firms a "transaction fee" for successfully matched transactions. The fee
ranges from 0.5% to 3%, Yu said.

Sino-i.com, which has applied for a subscription TV broadcasting license
through its wholly owned unit, Hong Kong Network TV Ltd., said it plans
to operate at least 65 television channels within 12 months if the application
is approved.

The local broadcasting authority is expected give out pay TV licenses
before Chinese New Year in early February.

Sino-i.com is already in negotiations with Hutchison Whampoa Ltd. to lease
Hutchison`s fiber-optic cable network to air these channels. "About 12 to
20 channels will be leased from other TV content providers," Yu said.

Yu also said the company may need to raise capital once it gets the pay-TV
license, which it may obtain from the market. He nevertheless declined to
give more specifics.

die leute machen einfach n neuen thread auf, wail sie hoffen daß ich komme auf sina draufhaue

da wird man dann noch beschimpft, wwenn man das eine oder andere faktum zur diskussion stellt!

die leute ham einfach n tierischen schiss daß ´die ganzen china werte, deren kurssteigerungen nur auf ankündugungen beruhen,
den bach runtergehen

das kramfphafte gehype das sich dann einstellt ist wirklich ärmlich.


nichts gegen phantasie, aber man muß schon irgentwie ne einigerma0en geführte firma sein.



ich denke derartige phantasie könnten wir diese woche bei Golden Power (HK: 603) sehen.

der wert ist nach aufkauf am 28.12 durch hikari tsushin und pacific century cyber enorm gelaufen, hat dann seine bewertung gesucht (und gefunden)
aber das die beiden jetzt schon mit GP zur sacxhe kommen wollen (PK am freitag) erstaunt mich


ich bin sehr gespannt was die gelben gleich damit anstellen
