      Novell (Netware,Directory Services)
      Microsoft (Development Framework)
Sun Microsystems ( Java DevelopmentPlatform, JDBC-Anbindung)
      Eingegangen.

      Fazit:

( BW)(CA-CENTURA-SOFTWARE)(CNTR) Centura Launches First Open Source Data Management Solution for Information Appliances at LinuxWorld

      Business Editors & High-tech Writers
      LinuxWorld 2000

      NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb. 1, 2000--

Partnership with leading open-source service provider, OpenAvenue,
enables Centura to build developer community to further ignite the
      Information Appliance market

Centura(TM) Software Corporation (Nasdaq:CNTR), leader in e-Business and Information Appliance databases and development solutions, announced today the launch of the first open source data management solution, db.linux(TM), at the LinuxWorld Conference and Expo in New York City. Centura is partnering with OpenAvenue (www.openavenue.com), an industry leader specializing in the hosting, management and distribution of worldwide collaborative software development projects, to manage the initiative and grow the developer community for db.linux. Centura brings over 15 years of proven engineering expertise in the embedded data management space to this strategic relationship. Together with OpenAvenue they will ensure the stability, growth, and vitality of db.linux as the premier embedded database of choice for the Information Appliance (IA) market.
"The market for information appliances will grow dramatically over the next 3-5 years," said Jack Gold, Senior Program Directors of META Group`s mobile and pervasive computing practice. "We believe db.linux will give developers worldwide the opportunity to work with an enterprise class, high-performance embedded database leading to enormous technological advances in the Information Appliance and mobile computing space."
This newly created open source initiative will lead to significant growth opportunities for Centura through services, support, training and upgrades. Additional Centura solutions, including its patent-pending SQLBase Safegarde security solution; Velocis, its powerful e-business data management server; and eSNAPP, its ground-breaking appliance connectivity solution, create a complete IA and embedded systems offering complimenting db.linux.

      About Open Source

"Open source" describes software that is developed by programmers collaborating via the Internet, using freely distributed, non-proprietary source code, resulting in a community of contributors organized around a shared body of work. Benefits of this type of development include accelerated time to market, access to a large community of developers, resulting in new software features, faster bug fixes and lower development overhead. This model enables support and services to become an important measurement of a vendor`s success, as the community largely maintains the software itself. Companies like Red Hat and Corel have successfully demonstrated that Open Source is leading the way for next-generation software development.

Centura Software Allies with Samsung Data Systems to Deliver Enterprise-Wide Information Appliance Solutions
Strategic Alliance Already Underway with First Dynamic Wireless Health Care Point-of-Care System
REDWOOD SHORES, Calif.--(BW HealthWire)--Feb. 15, 2000-- Centura Software Corp. (Nasdaq:CNTR - news), leader in e-business and Information Appliance (IA) databases and development solutions, announced today a strategic business alliance with Samsung Data Systems America (Samsung) (www.sds.samsung.com) to deliver enterprise-wide health-care solutions for the burgeoning IA Market. Market research firm International Data Corp. (IDC) expects the worldwide market for Information Appliances to exceed 89 million units, or $17.8 billion, in 2004 vs. 11 million units, or $2.4 billion, in 1999.

In this alliance, Samsung will focus on delivering mobile health-care solutions, leveraging Centura`s eSNAPP appliance connectivity solution. Samsung`s expertise in developing mobile health--care systems is based on its work at the state-of-the-art Samsung Medical Center. The medical facility, operated in Seoul, South Korea, is committed to enhancing health standards by promoting medical advances in three major areas: diagnosis and treatment, patient service and hospital administration. Centura`s contribution will be to train Samsung personnel on eSNAPP, Centura`s connectivity solution, which extends enterprise and industrial information to handhelds, palmtop devices and Information Appliances, as well as other related Centura products. Together, the companies will partner with industry leading Independent Software Vendors (ISVs) to extend their health-care applications to multiple wireless computing environments requiring real-time access to their data.

Kelvin Kim, president of Samsung Data Systems America, stated, ``We are excited to work closely with Centura to deliver enterprise-wide solutions for the health-care industry. Centura`s eSNAPP solution and its network of innovative ISVs will enable us to deliver leading-edge wireless solutions to leading health-care facilities throughout the United States.``

The first joint design win is underway with Samsung providing its development and project management expertise to ARMUS Corp. (www.armus.com), a leading health-care ISV implementing an eSNAPP-based solution. The ARMUS solution is a point-of-care system that radically improves clinical patient data collection, analysis and reporting for cardiac care clinics. Using eSNAPP with handheld devices, the solution enables information to be entered and accessed at the point of care. Patient information is instantly collected in the corporate database and is immediately available to any user, through an eSNAPP-enabled handheld device. This will improve the quality of patient care by ensuring that the most up-to-date information is always available at the time of treatment.

``Samsung`s extensive experience in application development for health-care systems is critical to providing a total solution for our customers,`` said Scott Broomfield, chairman and CEO of Centura Software. ``Additionally, our current and future customers will benefit from Samsung`s enterprise expertise in other areas, such as data warehousing and systems integration, as they seek to extend their business systems to the Web and beyond.``

Centura`s eSNAPP dynamically connects significant information such as clinical patient data to an Information Appliance, reducing the need for time-consuming paperwork and administration. Designed specifically for the mobile computing environment, Centura`s eSNAPP solution can provide increased data accuracy and decreased administrative costs, two major concerns for the health-care industry.
