NeoMagic (Nasdaq: NMGC). Deren Kurs sieht jammervoll aus (klassischer Dog),
die Story dahinter ist aber SEHR interessant:
- NMGC stellt hochintegrierte Grafikchips fuer Laptops her und ist in diesem
Marktsegment klar fuehrend (Einsatz u.a. in Dell und Sony Laptops)
sensationellen 0,5 ==> KRASS UNTERBEWERTET

Danke

NeoMagic(R) Multimedia Accelerators Drive New IBM
ThinkPad Notebook PCs
MagicMedia(TM)256ZX & MagicMedia(TM)256AV in ThinkPad 600X Series & ThinkPad 390X
Series
SANTA CLARA, Calif., Nov. 10 /PRNewswire/ -- NeoMagic Corporation (Nasdaq: NMGC - news), the pioneer of embedded
memory and logic technology and the leading producer of single-chip multimedia accelerators, announced today that the new IBM
ThinkPad 600X slim-and-light notebook incorporates the MagicMedia256ZX multimedia accelerator. Designed for demanding
mobile professionals, the ThinkPad 600X weighs about 5 pounds and has a slim 1.4 inch profile that makes it easy to slip under the
arm, into a briefcase, and ideal for transporting mobile presentations. The new ThinkPad 600X notebooks also feature the Intel
Mobile Pentium III processors running at 500MHz or 450MHz. Earlier versions of the award winning ThinkPad 600 series
notebooks also used MagicMedia256 accelerators.
IBM`s first 15-inch display notebook, the ThinkPad 390X, uses the MagicMedia256AV. Designed as a desktop replacement to
bulky external CRT monitors, the 15-inch digital display provides an effective viewing area in a smaller footprint for the desktop
user who requires the power of a desktop with the flexibility of a notebook PC. Presentations come to life in the high-resolution
active matrix TFT display with wide viewing angles, high-speed CD-ROM drive and dynamic stereo speakers, with video
acceleration by the MagicMedia256AV. Previous versions of the ThinkPad 390 series notebooks also ran MagicMedia256
accelerators.
``IBM continues to be a leader in the mobile computing space especially with corporate America,`` said J. Gerry Purdy, Ph.D.,
President and CEO of Mobile Insights, a market analysis and professional services firm in Mountain View, California. ``New
full-featured ThinkPad models improve on speed, sleekness, portability and stability for corporate standards. The new ThinkPad
600X systems are workhorse models planned to be in production on a global basis for several quarters, allowing product
consistency for large enterprise deployments. In addition, the new All-In-One ThinkPad 390X Desktop Replacement notebooks
provide the power of the desktop with the mobility of a notebook PC. Large and small business users alike want high-performance
multimedia features in a thin-and-light configuration, a product category that continues to benefit from NeoMagic`s embedded
DRAM technology.``
``Mobility is our focus at NeoMagic. We continue to work towards developing the best technology and the best product solutions
for the mobile computing industry,`` said Larry Chisvin, director of product marketing in NeoMagic`s Multimedia Products Division.
``Our MagicWare(TM) embedded memory and logic technology delivers products that combine the highest performance, lowest
power, and smallest size in a single-chip accelerator for high-quality multimedia presentations for mobile PCs like the IBM ThinkPad
600X and the IBM ThinkPad 390X.``

NeoMagic`s Act Improving
By Dave Marino-Nachison (TMF Braden)
November 18, 1999
Shares of notebook computer multimedia accelerator device maker NeoMagic
(Nasdaq: NMGC) reversed a short-lived rally today, despite the company`s turning in
fiscal third-quarter (ended Oct. 31) earnings of $0.16 per share, missing last year`s $0.33
mark though a nickel better than First Call`s three-analyst consensus estimate.
Margins were disappointing, with production problems continuing to plague the
company as they have all year. Though operating expenses decreased year-over-year,
cost of sales jumped nearly 28%, badly outpacing revenue growth -- 4.4% for the
quarter -- and severely hurting profits.
It`s been capacity constraints, production costs, and product delays that have hurt
NeoMagic in 1999 and the once high-flying, if erratic, stock has sunk to all-time lows for
much of the calendar year. Many market watchers, though, believe the company has
done well to get its fabrication issues -- NeoMagic doesn`t do any of its production in
house, which can be a mixed blessing -- in order, possibly setting the stage for a return
to the impressive valuations of years past.
For much of the year, and Q2 in particular, NeoMagic couldn`t keep up with demand for
its key product, the MagicMedia256AV graphics and DVD video accelerator, losing
sales as a result. This time around, the company was able to pry incremental capacity
from its suppliers to keep pace.
"We worked closely with our vendors on bringing more production on line near-term,"
said CEO Prakash Agarwal. "The MagicMedia256AV provided the majority of our
revenues during the third quarter and we expect it to continue doing so for several
quarters." Initial shipments of the newest version have begun and are expected to take
off in Q1, though delays in getting the product to market mean they won`t be in some of
the notebooks to come out early next year.
And now a new fab, Germany`s Infineon Technologies, has begun producing
NeoMagic`s accelerator`s full-time with shipments to pick up in fiscal Q4. That`s key
since current manufacturing partners Toshiba and Mitsubishi have had trouble meeting
demand for NeoMagic`s products.
Also worth following is the company`s gradual expansion into new product lines;
NeoMagic is looking into making accelerators for other devices, such as digital cameras,
which would seem a natural fit for the company since, like notebook computers, they
require space conservation and the ability to work with battery power.
If NeoMagic is now able to keep up with the demand for its notebook accelerators, it
stands to grow revenues not just because of the expected expansion of the portable PC
market but from new market share growth as manufacturers become increasingly
assured that they`ll get what they order. And if NeoMagic can complement that with
expansion into new product lines, better days for the company would appear to be in
order. With the stock currently trading at around 16 times projected full fiscal year
earnings, it certainly seems worth a closer look.

gerade DVD-RAM Chips entwickeln laesst. Warum "halbe" Insider-Info?

SANTA CLARA, Calif. (CBS.MW) -- Investors lost interest in
NeoMagic stock Friday, pushing it down 38 percent after the company
warned of a sharp decline in revenue and market share going forward.
Shares of the semiconductor company (NMGC: news, msgs) tumbled 4
1/32 to 6 19/32, just below its 52-week low of 7 1/8. Volume reached
4.75 million shares in recent trading.
The Santa Clara, Calif.-based company develops semiconductor solutions
for original equipment manufacturers of mobil computing devices,
integrating large DRAM memory with analog and logic circuitry to provide
multimedia solutions on a single chip.
Net income came in at $2.8 million, or 11 cents a share, shadowing
analysts` estimates in the first quarter but well below the $9 million, or 34
cents, earned in last year`s comparable quarter.
Sales in the quarter slumped to $56.6 million from $72 million a year ago.
NeoMagic said it expects further declines in sales and market share in the
coming quarters after completing several quarters of revenue and gross
margin challenges.
The company said delays in bringing their newest 3D product,
MagicMedia 256XL+, to production will have a more significant impact
on market share than previously anticipated.
For the first quarter, NeoMagic has planned structural changes in
anticipation of lower business activity.
The company also said it hopes to sell its DVD drive electronics product
line as part of restructuring efforts in the first quarter. NeoMagic expects
restructuring charges in this quarter and a loss going forward.

We`ve told this story before, and we`ll tell it again: A brief rally among shares of notebook computer multimedia accelerator device maker
NeoMagic (Nasdaq: NMGC) came to a hasty end today after the company said production problems will strain future profits.
NeoMagic`s stock had inched up about 10% since our late-November visit with the company on a day when the shares were hurt by a
downbeat earnings report. At the time, though, many observers believed the troubles the company was having getting its manufacturers to
produce its popular MagicMedia256AV graphics and DVD video accelerator were coming to a close. Those hopes were rubbished today,
frustrated investors punishing the company by sending its shares to a new 52-week low.
Fiscal fourth-quarter (ended Jan. 31) earnings came in as expected, EPS meeting First Call`s five-analyst consensus estimate of $0.11. "Our
fourth quarter financial results were very much as we expected," said CEO Prakash Agarwal. That wasn`t the problem, though.
"The delays we experienced in bringing our newest 3D product, the MagicMedia256XL+, to production will have a more significant impact
upon our market share than we had earlier anticipated," Agarwal continued. The 256XL+ model was introduced Jan. 6. "While these
developments may not yet be apparent in our Q4 financial results," the CEO said, "we expect to see a sharp decline in revenues and market
share going forward."
Earlier this year the company couldn`t meet up with demand and had to work closely with its manufacturer to eke out what extra capacity it
could; down the road NeoMagic may bemoan the missed sales opportunities as a case of wasted product development expense. Signs of
that are already showing, as the company is preparing for lean times: expect a Q1 charge to materialize as the company restructures to focus
on key developmental projects and to cope with lower-than-expected business.
Among the changes investors might expect is the sale of the company`s DVD drive electronics product line, which NeoMagic hopes to clear
up in Q1. That could strengthen a good-looking balance sheet that should fund the company through tough times. Whatever the company`s
plans, though, NeoMagic expects losses to follow. Specifically: "Even considering structural changes to reduce cost levels," Agarwal said,
"the company expects a loss going forward." More info wasn`t in the company`s press release.
While investors should certainly consider former highflyers that have come under fire, NeoMagic is apparently positioning itself for an
extended rough patch. Without better indications of coming growth, investors should proceed here with considerable caution and patience as
more downside certainly seems possible.

Hallo,
2) Buy on bad News
