The house the Marlboro Man built, Philip Morris Companies, is the world`s largest tobacco business; it controls about half of the US tobacco market, and the Marlboro name is one of the world`s two most valuable brands (Coca-Cola is the other). The company also makes such brands as Virginia Slims, Benson & Hedges, and Parliament. Less than half of Philip Morris` sales come from its food and beer subsidiaries, which include Kraft Foods (the US`s largest food company and marketer of such leading brands as Jell-O, Oscar Mayer, and Post cereals) and Miller Brewing (ranked #2 among US beer makers, after Anheuser-Busch). Philip Morris also operates a financial services business.

(AMEX:NTN - news), a developer and distributor of sports and trivia games to a variety of interactive platforms, including its own interactive television networks.
As part of the agreement, Miller Brewing Company`s Miller Lite brand will be advertised across NTN`s hospitality network of 12,000 television screens in approximately 3,000 restaurants, sports bars and taverns in North America. NTN`s hospitality network broadcasts live sports and trivia game shows, including NTN`s popular QB1(TM) live, the multiplayer, interactive football strategy game played in conjunction with live NFL gameday broadcasts.

Under the terms of the agreement, effective immediately, Miller Lite will broadcast two commercial spots an hour on the NTN Network and will sponsor QB1 and several other sports-related programs. The Miller Lite spots will reach an estimated 21 million players on NTN`s interactive television network.
``We are very excited to again be working with the Miller Brewing Company in support of their advertising and marketing strategy. Ruling Favors Curbs on Tobacco Ads
BOSTON (AP) -- A federal judge has rejected a claim that Massachusetts`s ban on outdoor tobacco advertising near schools violates the tobacco industry`s free speech rights.
U.S. District Judge William G. Young on Monday upheld state regulations that prohibit outdoor ads for cigarettes, smokeless tobacco and cigars within 1,000 feet of schools and playgrounds.
Young also upheld a state requirement that cigar packages bear health warnings. But he struck down a restriction on tobacco ads inside retail stores.
``This is a great victory in our effort to combat underage smoking in Massachusetts,`` Attorney General Tom Reilly said in a written statement. ``The goal of these regulations is to reduce the influence of tobacco advertising on children.``
Tobacco companies had already agreed to pull billboard ads nationwide to settle litigation brought by states over the costs of treating smoking-related illnesses. But the Massachusetts regulations also included a ban on tobacco ads facing the street from stores near schools.
John Sorrells, a spokesman for Philip Morris Inc., said the company`s attorneys would study the opinion and decide whether to appeal.
``We believe in commercial free speech -- and that was the reason we challenged these regulations,`` he said. ``We agree with Attorney General Reilly that kids shouldn`t smoke nor should they have access to tobacco products. But we also believe strongly that we should have the right to communicate with our adult consumers.``
Young ruled in December that federal tobacco laws didn`t prohibit the state from placing its own restrictions on tobacco advertising. But Young at that time did not address the industry`s claim that such state bans violated the industry`s right to free speech.
In January 1999, then-Attorney General Scott Harshbarger launched a first-in-the-nation attempt to restrict tobacco advertising under the state`s Consumer Protection Act. The restrictions are scheduled to take effect next month.
Philip Morris filed suit in federal court, arguing that the federal government, not the states, had the right to regulate tobacco advertising. R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Co., Brown & Williamson Corp. and Lorillard Tobacco Co. joined the suit.
Health warnings in large black-and-white lettering will be required on packages of cigars sold in Massachusetts. They will say either: ``WARNING: Cigar Smoke Contains Carbon Monoxide and Nicotine, an Addictive Drug,`` or ``WARNING: Cigars Are Not A Safe Alternative To Cigarettes Or Smokeless Tobacco Products.``
California is the only other state that requires such a warning.
``This is an important step forward in informing consumers of the serious health risks of cigar use,`` Reilly said.

MS. McGINNIS: Hello and welcome to "CBS MarketWatch Weekend." I`m Susan McGinnis. You might have noticed a pattern developing lately. It`s a parting of ways between the Dow and the Nasdaq. The Dow Industrials have largely been in the doldrums as investors continue to shun the blue chips in worries over rising interest rates. Those fears have been fueled, in large part, by oil prices reaching near nine-year highs on supply concerns.
Meanwhile, earnings reports from some key technology companies continue to push the Nasdaq to new records for most of last week. Those earnings were, for the most part, better than expected, as companies including Apple (AAPL: news, msgs), IBM (IBM: news, msgs), and AOL (AOL: news, msgs)came through for shareholders. Later in the program we`ll tell you what the coming week will hold as we get even deeper into earnings season.
While all this is leaving investors wondering which way the indices will head next, let`s hand it over to Alexis Christoforous now for a look at the market. Alexis, are you sensing that we will continue to see this divergence in the market?
ALEXIS CHRISTOFOROUS: Well, Susan, this tug of war between interest rate worries and positive earnings news is likely to continue until at least Feb.2, when we learn the fate of U.S. interest rates. The Dow and the Nasdaq marched to a different drum this past week. On Friday, interest rate concerns blistered the blue chips again. The Dow Industrials sank nearly 100 points for the week. The Dow was down 4 percent.
The S&P 500 slid four points Friday. For the week it was down nearly 2 percent, but the Nasdaq sealed three record closes in the holiday-shortened week, rising nearly 46 points Friday, up 4 percent on the week.
Oil prices made headlines. The frigid weather in the Northeast boosted demand for heating fuel at a time when oil exporters are restricting their supplies. Underpinning the recent gains: output cutbacks from OPEC members. Heating oil surged 13 percent to its highest price since October 1990, while crude oil prices surged nearly $30 a barrel, levels not seen since the Persian Gulf War nine years ago.
And speaking of gushing, shares of VerticalNet (VERT: news, msgs) surged 23 percent Friday, inflating its market cap by $1.6 billion. That buying spree was sparked after Microsoft (MSFT: news, msgs) invested $100 million in the business-to-business e-commerce company.
And on the docket this week, we`ll hear from Federal Reserve Chairman Alan Greenspan. The Fed chief will head to Capitol Hill Tuesday to testify on the economy and the federal budget.
And that`s a look at your Week Ahead. Susan, back to you.
MS. McGINNIS: All right, thank you, Alexis. And still to come on "CBS MarketWatch Weekend," a report on business-to-business Internet activities that have Wall Street buzzing. If your New Year`s resolution is to get out of debt, Marshall Loeb will have some tips. And Europe is on the verge of a wireless Internet revolution. We`ll give you a glimpse of what we might expect here in the States. We`ll be right back.
(Announcements.)
MS. McGINNIS: Welcome back to "CBS MarketWatch Weekend."
The latest niche in the e-commerce arena is business-to-business, or B2B, companies. They are getting more and more attention on Wall Street right now. Bambi Francisco tells us what the buzz is all about and what investors should now before putting their investment dollars in these companies.
BAMBI FRANCISCO: Commerce One (CMRC: news, msgs), Ariba (ARBA: news, msgs), VerticalNet ... hardly household names but Wall Street knows who they are and loves them. They are B2Bs, businesses that sell to other businesses. And what they are selling are ways for companies to make or save money using the Internet.
For instance, Commerce One is helping General Motors (GM: news, msgs) cut costs buying car parts online. And VerticalNet offers companies a way to drive up sales using the Web.
GENE GODICK (chief financial officer, VerticalNet): They were seeing a lot of very high-profile Fortune 500 companies showing a lot of interest in finding ways to exploit the Web. Watch the interview with Godick.
MS. FRANCISCO: Investment firm Thomas Weisel Partners expects this segment of the Internet to create $1 (trillion) to $2 trillion in stock-market value in the next 10 years. That`s why the investment firm has devoted an entire conference to this booming sector.
For investors, the sector is already sporting high-flying valuations. Internet Capital Group (ICGE: news, msgs), a holder of Internet B2Bs, is valued at almost $42 billion. Its shares are up 2,500 percent from its IPO. Commerce One is worth $13 billion in market cap, VerticalNet valued at $8.5 billion, Ariba is worth $16.5 billion. But there are risks.
GRETCHEN TEAGARDEN (business-to-business analyst, Thomas Weisel Partners): I get concerned when I see someone saying, "Well, we are going to get AT&T (T: news, msgs) and MCI (WCOM: news, msgs)" -- and all these huge players to embrace their platform. To me, that`s something I don`t really understand how that would work because I think very large players will do their own e-commerce websites. See the interview with Teagarden.
MS. FRANCISCO: Even Commerce One sees challenges ahead.
PAUL PERVERE (chief financial officer, Commerce One): The biggest barriers that I think that we have are really getting people to participate right now in these portals or trading exchanges, that we have established with our partners.
MS. FRANCISCO: And to some extent, the notion that traditional firms are quickly adopting to take advantage of the Internet is reflected in the B2B stock prices. Still, most analysts believe it`s not whether companies will step onto the Internet program and lose corporate fat, but when.
I am Bambi Francisco, CBS MarketWatch.
MS. McGINNIS: And that "corporate fat" could be sizable. Thomas Weisel Partners says that the Internet could shave 19 percent from some corporate expenses in the next 10 years.
Still to come on "CBS MarketWatch Weekend," Alexis Christoforous with the "how-tos" of getting your latest get-rich-quick idea to market. Marshall Loeb lays out a plan to clean up your debt. And Thom Calandra talks with Betsy Karetnick about some inefficiencies he has noticed in the market -- what investors can do about it.
(Announcements.)
MS. McGINNIS: Welcome back. Ever have an idea that you think could make you millions? In this week`s Educated Investor, Alexis Christoforous introduces us to an inventor who`s taking his dream from the drawing board to the store shelf.
ALEXIS CHRISTOFOROUS: Pokemon. Furby. Teletubbies. Crazy Creatures? They`re not in stores yet, but they`re the brainchild of Ray Adamski, part-time restaurant manager, full-time inventor. Ray hopes his pet project will turn into big profits and be the next must-have toy for kids.
RAY ADAMSKI: Over the years I`d added eyes and ears, a nose, fangs. They looked so good, I said, "Wait a minute. There`s nothing on the shelf like this. I might be able to do this for a living. I might be able to realize my dream and be, you know, a crazy toy maker."
MS. CHRISTOFOROUS: Competition to get a product on store shelves is fierce, especially in the toy industry. And Ray soon found out that a few bucks and a fresh idea were just the beginning to getting his Crazy Creatures on store shelves.
Ray`s first order of business was to protect himself.
ROBERT FERRARA (Invention Idea Co.): A lot of inventors will have ideas, make mistakes, and go out and show people their inventions, and they lose their ideas.
MS. CHRISTOFOROUS: With the help of the folks at Invention Idea Co., Ray took the necessary steps that every inventor must take.
First, conduct a patent search. If that comes back clear, obtain a patent license. Then copyright and trademark your idea.
And even if you have all of this, there are still important questions to be answered.
MR. FERRARA: Can it be made? Is it cost-effective? And there has to be a profit from manufacturing stage to distribution to retail.
MS. CHRISTOFOROUS: You also need some seed money to get the ball rolling. Ray invested $10,000 in his first prototype. Start-up costs usually range from between $7(,000) and $15,000, which can include the cost of building a prototype and investing in marketing tools.
With the help of Invention Idea Co., Ray now has his own website and brochure, and is shopping Wacky Wolf, Sit Pup, and Spider Spazz to major toy stores.
DAVID STABILE (Invention Idea Co.: I think the kids, once they see this and understand it, I think that they -- I think it has a pretty good shot.
MS. CHRISTOFOROUS: So will Crazy Creatures be on your kids` wish list next Christmas? Ray Adamski sure hopes so. But this Mad Cow is already on my list.
Ray Adamski hopes to have his Crazy Creatures in toy stores within six months. They`re expected to retail for between $25 and $45 each. Susan?
MS. McGINNIS: All right. Thanks, Alexis. We`ll look for those Crazy Creatures in the coming months.
And if the coming months are looking like tough ones for you financially, it may be time to take a hard look at your debt. Americans are deeper in debt than ever before, but there is new evidence that we are trying harder to get out from under. The Consumer Federation of America finds Americans are making bigger payments on their credit card debt and increasingly resisting the lure of new credit card offers -- good news.
Also, Marshall Loeb is here with some tips on shrinking your debt. See Loeb`s report.
Marshall?
MARSHALL LOEB: Susan, did you go on a spending binge over the holidays? Are you now drowning in debt? Well, here`s a three-step plan to help you pull out and start to build some savings.
First, pay off all your credit card bills, even if you have to take out a loan from a bank or borrow against your whole life insurance policy. It costs you much less to pay off a bank loan than to pay your credit card bills, which often carry a walloping 18 percent interest rate.
Your second step, if you own your own home, is to take out a home equity loan at a bank to pay off your other bills. Most of your interest payments on a home equity loan will be tax deductible, but your interest payments on ordinary consumer loans are not deductible. Another source of cheap credit may be to borrow against your 401(k) plan.
Step three is to start to build your savings by arranging with your employer or with your bank to transfer a fixed amount from every paycheck into a savings account or a mutual fund in your name.
When you`re deeply in the hole, you often can meet with your creditors and negotiate to stretch out your payments; that is, arrange a longer term of repayment in smaller amounts each month. Creditors have a great deal of latitude to extend the due date on bills by up to 30 days. They possibly can refinance a debt to allow longer, though lower, payment.
If you have trouble meeting your home mortgage payments, go to your mortgage lender for help. The last thing a lender wants is to foreclose on your property; he`d much rather have your cash. So in most cases, a loan can be rescheduled and payments reduced if necessary.
Susan.
MS. McGINNIS: Marshall, how do you know when you`re too deeply in debt?
MR. LOEB: Well, Susan, one warning sign is if a potential lender, say a department store or a credit card issuer, denies you credit. In that case, the Equal Opportunity Credit Act requires that the potential lender must tell you the reason for the denial. And the Fair Credit Reporting Act says that if the lender has used a credit reporting bureau to provide your credit history, you must be given that agency`s name, address and phone number, and you then can get in touch with that agency, find out exactly what information is in your credit record, and press to correct any mistakes.
Susan.
MS. McGINNIS: Okay. Some good advice, Marshall Loeb. Thanks for that report.
Coming up next on "CBS MarketWatch Weekend," Europe`s wireless revolution is set to ignite a boom in Internet usage. We`ll have a report from London. We`ll get the latest thoughts on Wall Street from Thom Calandra in this week`s StockWatch. And a reminder: You can see portions of "CBS MarketWatch Weekend" on our website at cbs.marketwatch.com.
(Announcements.)
MS. McGINNIS: Welcome back.
You may know that when it comes to the Web, Europe tends to follow the U.S., but what you may not know is that in the wireless world, the roles are reversed. Wireless phones are far more commonplace in Europe, and, in many cases, more advanced than their U.S. counterparts. Now experts say Europe`s wireless advantage is set to ignite a real Internet boom across the region. Liza Roberts reports.
LIZA ROBERTS: More than 120 million people in the EU carry mobile phones, a number that`s growing every day. And they already use the hand-held wonders for data, sending and receiving more than 2 billion short messages a month. Next, it`s the Internet. Finland`s Nokia (NOK: news, msgs) is already shipping the latest thing. These so-called WAP phones let companies create mini-websites designed just for mobile users. And Europe`s companies are ready. More than half of those polled by Forrester Research plan to launch on-line services for mobile customers by the middle of this year.
Auction site QXL (QXLC: news, msgs) says it`ll take the bidding on the road.
JIM ROSE (CEO, QXL.com): I can just have that message come through, so if I get outbid they can notify me, whether I`m in a restaurant, in my car, wherever I`m going to be and saying either "You`ve been outbid, do you want to get back in before this auction closes to rebid?" or it can say, "You won."
MS. ROBERTS: A full one-third of Europeans are predicted to be surfing the Net over their cell phones by 2004, booking flights, sending e-mails, bidding in auctions, trading stocks. Makers of other on-line devices say their products will also be great.
Psion makes palm-top computers.
DAVID LEVIN (Chief executive, Psion): And our image of the Internet is the Internet is the world wide web, basically. Suddenly, we see the Internet in your pocket, you`re going to do very different things with it. Very exciting, with a host of new applications.
MS. ROBERTS: Still, some critics wonder how the pay-per-minute model of the cell phone industry will meld with the free culture of the Internet and whether mobile operators will pick and choose partner websites for customers to access. We`ll be watching as the new wireless Internet world unfolds from Europe.
In London, I`m Liza Roberts, "CBS MarketWatch."
MS. McGINNIS: Telecom stocks were hot last year, and as we jump into 2000, Internet and wireless communications companies in the U.S. are gearing up for a blast into the wireless cyberworld. We`ll continue to follow that action.
If you`re looking for some light reading, analysts reports may not be the best place to turn, but if you`re an investor, they may be one route to finding valuable companies. Betsy Karetnick sat down with Thom Calandra to talk about some others.
THOM CALANDRA: Well, I think that there are plenty of small, mid-cap companies out there, technology and non-technology, that could see huge gains this year.
BETSY KARETNICK: Let`s talk about the smaller companies. Inherently, they`re riskier because they can trade up and down, and especially with day traders out there, they can trade up and down very quickly. How does an individual investor who doesn`t necessarily want to day-trade go out and pick some of these?
MR. CALANDRA: Well, you have to real -- you know, you can use the individual investors to your advantage now because they are holding sway over the market like they never have before. In fact, the individual investors have no fiduciary responsibility, unlike financial managers, and you have to --
MS. KARETNICK: Just taxes.
MR. CALANDRA: There`s taxes and you have to answer to your spouse, right? But these people are out there determining some of the valuations for these small- and mid-sized companies. There`s one out there called Crosswalk.com (AMEN: news, msgs). It`s a Christian community website, it has music on the website and a number of other things. It`s a Virginia company. The stock is suffering, like a lot of content companies on the Internet. It`s a $50 million company. How does that compare to Yahoo (YHOO: news, msgs), which is a great company, but Yahoo is at tens and tens of billions of dollars. So I think that, you know, if we just see a sliver come off of the large dot-coms, the Yahoos of the world, into some of these small-caps, you`re going to have a big payday.
MS. KARETNICK: Can you give us like two or three quick parameters in terms of what to look for when we`re out picking some of these smaller stocks?
MR. CALANDRA: I think you want to look at balance sheet. Balance sheet is the most important thing. Don`t pay too much attention to Wall Street research; 90 percent of all Wall Street research is garbage written for sales forces so that sales people can sell their stocks. Balance sheets are much more important. You want to see cash. Of course, you want to see revenues growing -- and that`s on the income statement -- 20 to 30 percent a year. You want to see very, very strong management. Most importantly, as I said, you want to see cash for the future. Earnings aren`t that important right now.
MS. McGINNIS: And most companies do have an investor relations number and website link, where you can get specifics. And remember, you can find Thom`s StockWatch on our website at CBS.MarketWatch.com.
Still to come on "CBS MarketWatch Weekend," some of the biggest names in corporate America reveal their bottom lines this coming week. Chuck Hill from First Call, which tracks all the numbers, is with us next. Stay with us.
(Announcements.)
MS. McGINNIS: Earnings season kicks into high gear in the coming week as some of the biggest companies in the country release their quarterly results. So far, the numbers have been coming in better than expected. But can corporate profits keep rising? Stacey Tisdale tries to answer that question with First Call earnings analyst Chuck Hill. Watch a video of the interview.
STACEY TISDALE: Chuck, the first thing I want to ask you; we are moving into the busiest week on the earnings calendar. What will be some of the highlights?
CHUCK HILL: Well, we have 12 of the Dow Jones Industrial stocks reporting this week: We start off Monday with Exxon (XOM: news, msgs), American Express (AXP: news, msgs) and Eastman Kodak (EK: news, msgs). We follow that up on Tuesday with Johnson and Johnson (JNJ: news, msgs), Procter & Gamble (PG: news, msgs), AT&T (T: news, msgs) and SBC Communications (SBC: news, msgs). And then on Wednesday, we get Coca Cola (KO: news, msgs), McDonald`s (MCD: news, msgs), Merck (MRK: news, msgs), Philip Morris (MO: news, msgs) and Minnesota Mining (MMM: news, msgs).
MS. TISDALE: So it is going to be a very, very busy week. But what are you expecting from the numbers from those companies?
MR. HILL: Well, we are going to have a very good quarter for earnings. We`ll probably end up about 21 percent over last year`s earnings for the S&P 500. That`s a little softer than the third quarter but only because we are reverting back to more normal comparisons; we don`t have some of those depressed numbers to compare it to, in `98, that we did earlier in `99. So when you net it out, earnings look very, very good this quarter.
MS. TISDALE: Twenty-one percent beats everyone`s expectations. What companies have been the big winners this reporting season?
MR. HILL: Well, the commodity cyclicals are where we are seeing the biggest gains, year over year: the energy companies, the oil producers; in the basic materials group, particularly the papers and the nonferrous metals.
But technology is a little softer than normal in terms of year-over-year growth because of these temporary problems of Y2K and component shortages, but they are coming in much better than expected. Apparently, the analysts were a little too cautious. So it`s not going to be quite as bad as had been thought. And it is only a temporary problem; technology is expected to have 24 percent growth here in the first quarter of 2000.
MS. TISDALE: What was interesting was some of the tech companies, particularly Microsoft; a lot of their earnings growth came from just good investment, their stock portfolios. Isn`t that a little deceitful because earnings aren`t really based on the company`s performance?
MR. HILL: Well, it`s not as high-quality earnings as from their basic business. And obviously, it`s not sustainable to have these kind of portfolio gains that they are bringing in right now. But even if you back those out, technology is still doing well -- obviously not quite as well.
MS. TISDALE: Based on what you`re seeing, do you think earnings are going to continue to be a driving force for stocks?
MR. HILL: Absolutely. I mean, expectations for the full year, for 2000, is for earnings to be up probably about 14 percent. That`s a little less than we had last year, but last year was a recovery year. To have 14 percent on top of what was a strong year is particularly impressive. Keep in mind that the long-term average earnings growth for the S&P 500 has been 7 percent, so we`re talking about doubling that this year, in a year when we`re comparing the strong earnings.
MS. TISDALE: Chuck Hill of First Call, thank you very much for joining us. Back over to you, Susan.
MS. McGINNIS: Thank you, Stacey.
And that wraps up this edition of "CBS MarketWatch Weekend." I`m Susan McGinnis. Thank you for joining us, and until next time, we`ll see you on the World Wide Web.
In January 1999, then-Attorney General Scott Harshbarger launched an attempt to restrict tobacco advertising under the state`s Consumer Protection Act.

Boardbeiträge :
MO can get to that share value ($100+)only if it can seperate the cigarette business from the other businesses which includes the International cigarette businesses.
Otherwise, the Wall Street money will not flow in because they cannnot calculate the actual value of the stock. That is because the posssible awards (Engle`s) are awarded on an irrational basis (jury), the large legal partnerships will always try to sue MO and therefore one cannot calculate the actual earnings of MO with any degree of certainty. This coupled with the abiltiy of Mutual Funds to make easy money (no brainers) in Technology, Internet and various IPO`s will keep money circulating out of MO until mid-summer.
With that said, the stock is very undervalued at $22.00/share and probably will rise to $40-$50.00/share by mid-summer irregardless of the pending cases because of the underlying value of the food, beverage and International cigarette assets minus the Domestic cigarette assets which will always be at risk.
The rise from $50 to $100+ will occur when and if the company can isolate and put up firewalls among the various assets to keep the law partnerships at bay by making the ability to win a suit economically unattractive. As it is now the possible (not probable) suits by the law partnerships and awards by increasingly sympathetic juries makes all the sense in the world.
It is up to MO management to take away the incentives and break up and isolate the various assets and voila the stock is worth $100+.
---------
Buy MO MO to make MO MOney.
The stock is at a great price. There are still issues but will be handled as they have always been, one at a time. The stock should hit $50.00+ this year.

``Miller Lite is looking for cutting-edge ways to reach our adult beer drinkers at the restaurants and sports bars where they enjoy our products,`` said Rich Lalley, Miller Lite marketing director. ``We feel that NTN`s hospitality network provides us with a significant ability to reach that adult audience in a fun and compelling style.``
Under the terms of the agreement, effective immediately, Miller Lite will broadcast two commercial spots an hour on the NTN Network and will sponsor QB1 and several other sports-related programs. The Miller Lite spots will reach an estimated 21 million players on NTN`s interactive television network.

Hallo,
wer hat nähere Infos zu "Intasys". Evt. guter Tipp?
wer hat nähere Infos zu "Intasys". Evt. guter Tipp?
hallo goodjoker,

punktgenaue Empfehlungen gewinnen. Denn Time to market ist bei
Datenbank-Basis arbeitende Redaktionssystem Redline 3.
Blattplanungssystem.
"Dadurch", so Albrecht Prinz Croÿ, Chef vom Dienst, "erreicht "Die
Seiten Hand in Hand.

soeben neues von E - BAY :eBay Inc. legt Rekordjahr 99 hin / 10 Millionen Mitglieder, 224,7 Mio Dollar Umsatz, 10,8 Mio Dollar Gewinn 1999
Berlin (ots) -
Allein in vierten Quartal über 900 Mio Dollar Handelsvolumen in 41
Millionen Auktionen
schon handfeste Gewinne verbuchen", erklärt Marc Samwer,
aktuellen Berichtsquartal betrug 4,9 Mio Dollar bzw. 0,04 Dollar pro
Aktie.
Mit "Great Collections"

Philip Morris 4th-Qtr Profit Rises to 77c-Shr: Instant Insight
New York, Jan. 26 (Bloomberg) -- Philip Morris Cos., the world`s largest tobacco company, said its fourth-quarter earnings rose 2.7 percent. Here`s a summary.
Expected Market Reaction
Limited. Profit from operations rose to $1.81 billion, or 77 cents a share, from $1.77 billion, or 72 cents, a year earlier.
The company was expected to earn 78 cents, the average estimate of analysts surveyed by First Call/Thomson Financial.
Sales rose 4.4 percent to $19.2 billion from $18.4 billion.
Behind the Numbers
Philip Morris in August raised cigarette prices to wholesalers by 18 cents a pack. Most of the increase targeted a Jan. 1 rise in the federal excise tax and higher costs in 2000 tied to a 1998 settlement agreement. However, lifting prices months ahead of those events helped push U.S. cigarette profit up 1.1 percent.
Retailers ordered fewer cigarettes so that they could clear out taxable inventory ahead of the rise in the federal excise tax. That pushed U.S. cigarette shipments down 4.1 percent.
Profit also got a boost from the company`s Kraft food unit. Kraft operations in North America generated a 4.6 percent gain in profit. Kraft`s results have been rising on increased sales from new products and cost-cutting.
Operating profits at the company`s Miller beer unit surged 83 percent.
What the Experts Say
``The August price hike certainly aided U.S. tobacco profitability and to some extent compensated weaker performance overseas,`` said Salomon Smith Barney analyst Martin Feldman, who has a ``buy`` rating on Philip Morris shares.
Previous Market Reaction
Philip Morris shares rose 1/4 to 30 3/4 on Oct. 19, after the company said third-quarter earnings rose 2 percent.
Market Trend
The shares have fallen about 47 percent on the New York Stock Exchange since July 7, when a Miami jury found U.S. tobacco companies responsible for the death and disease of smokers, setting up the possibility of a lump-sum damage award that could exceed $100 billion.
The shares fell 11/16 to 21 1/4 in early trading.

Yellowbubble.com is a great new way to get paid for doing what you already do – surfing the web! You get paid when you surf yourself and even more when your friends join yellowbubble.com. What’s more, you will earn further money when your friends tell other friends to join. All you need to do is download our AdBox software and through it allow our advertisers to tell you about their products and services. It doesn’t get in the way and it doesn’t interrupt how you surf or where you surf, it just earns you money for surfing!

Hallo ass24,

Was mich allerdings wundert ist,

Jetzt will ich sozusagen wieder neu einsteigen.
Kannst Du mir irgendwelche Aktien empfehlen?

1.) Funktion Sell on good news (Time Warner)
vergl. Yellowb... das Du yellow schon bei 25€ rauswerfen
würdest??
