Wer hat denn hier zu Börsenschluß noch „kalte Füße" bekommen. Der Kurs lag während der gesamten Börsensitzung bei 14,2 bG oder G und zum Börsenschluß bei 13 B.

Meine lieben Börsenfreunde, die „IP-Telephony" weckt im Jahr 2000 die eine Phantasie, wie wir sie vor drei Jahren im Mobilfunkbereich gesehen haben. Die Märkte sind noch nicht verteilt, so daß das Marktpotential noch immens groß ist. Jeder hat eine Chance mitzumischen, auch die „zur Zeit noch kleine" 8x8. In den kommenden 18 Monaten werden neue Anbieter hinzutreten, alte verschwinden oder von den „Großen" geschluckt werden. 8x8 bietet mit der strategischen Neuausrichtung eine interessante Alternative, kapitalmäßig gestärkt durch ST Microelectronic kann die Entwicklung neuer und interessanter Produkte forciert werden. Die hohe Intraday-Volatilität zeigt, daß „Gewinnmitnahmen" immer wieder aufgefangen werden, sobald sich der Kurs vom Ausgangsniveau mehr als 2 $ nach unten entwickelt, zudem werden relativ große Volumina noch im nachbörslichen Handel abgewickelt. Stockt die ST M. ihre Beteiligung nach und nach auf? Was bringt die Technologie - Messe, an dem die 8x8 zur Zeit teilnimmt? Der Phantasie scheint keine Grenze gesetzt zu sein. Aufgrund der hohen Volatilität sollten mögliche Stop-Kurse nur bis leicht unter 10 $ angezogen werden, vorläufiges Kursziel weiterhin 18-20 $ und Konsolidierung auf diesem Bereich. Interessante Geschäftsabschlüsse und wichtige Unternehmensmeldungen können mittelfristig für weiter steigende Kurse sorgen.

Am Neuen Markt kann derzeit beobachtet werden, welche Dynamik bereits das Stichwort „Internet-Telephonie" in einen Kurs bringen kann. So hat die Gigabell, im letzten Jahr von den Analysten als „overprized" teilweise zu recht verschrien (der Kurs brach gegenüber dem Emissionskurs um 60 % ein), durch Beteiligungen und Diversifikation in den Bereich Internet-Telephonie zu einem gewaltigen Hype angesetzt. Nach 60 % Kursverlust im Vorjahr notiert sie zur Zeit 60 % über Emissionskurs. Vom Tiefstkurs bei 11,10 Euro gerechnet, heute bei 58 Euro im Verlauf, d.h. 425 % über Tiefstkurs bei gleichzeitiger Meldung eines deutlichen Verlustes in Höhe von 18 Mio. für das Jahr 1999 und damit einer gravierenden Verfehlung der Planzahlen.

Meine Meinung: Bald werden ALLE Daten, also Radio, Fernsehen,
Telefon und eben DATEN übers Internet gehen. INET ist digital,
fehlertolerant und vom Routing her ausgereift (jedes Paket findet
seinen Weg). Insofern dürfte auch VOIP die Zukunft gehören. In
einem anderen Thread (ZITEL) habe ich meine Meinung zu den
zukünftigen Softwaretechnologien zum Besten gegeben, aber VOIP hatte
ich (neben SoftBots) vergessen, na ja, das Alter.

8x8 ist auf meiner Watchlist und wird genauestens verfolgt,

Von der Diraba wurde mir gestern gesagt, wenn ich Papiere in den USA kaufe (YBBL gestern! leider!), kann ich sie auch nur dort wieder verkaufen (und nicht z.B. in Berlin, auch wenn der Wert dort gehandelt wird), da die auf ein Dollarkonto gebucht werden.
Kannst Du das bestätigen, oder gibst es einen anderen Weg, auch viceversa, dort zu kaufen, hier zu verkaufen.

in usa gehandelte aktien müssen dort wider verkauft werden.
eine übertragung nach d wäre prinzipiell möglich aber zu kompliziert
und zu teuer.
aber wozu auch? die kosten in us bei verkauf sind auch deutlich
geringer. insgesamt kann man diese fast halbieren.
den dollarbestand auf dem dollarkonto kann man innerhalb einer
minute in euro konvertieren. und zurück natürlich auch. vorteil
eventuell auch währungsschwankungen. weiterhin mögliche steuervorteile
für in us lagernde aktien bei ausschüttung(?)
und es bleibt dabei: menge und kurse von us aktien werden in us
gemacht. die haben die meldungen ja quasi vor der haustür.
also, wo ist das problem?

Forecast Earnings Growth


Over the next five years, the analysts that follow this company are expecting it to
grow earnings at an average annual rate of 25.0%.


Im abgelaufenen quartal wurde lediglich ein Verlust von 0,12 $ verzeichnet. Damit wurden die Erwartungen der Analysten (0,23 $) klar geschlagen. Die strategische Neuausrichtung greift!
Möglicherwiese wird im laufenden Jahr der break-Even erreicht! Profis ordern direkt an der NASDAQ, vor der Analystenkonferenz am 03.02.2000, die ihre Ertragsschätzungen revidieren müssen.

Die veröffentlichten 9-Monatszahlen (31.12.99) stimmen mich doch etwas kritisch. Warum sinkt der Umsatz um 30% im Vergleich zum Vorjahr, wenn sich die Firma in einem solchen Wachstumsumfeld befindet? Die aktuelle Notierung an der Nasdaq liegt bei 10 7/8 (-10,7 %). Sicher ist die Verringerung des Verlustes (liegt hauptsächlich in der Verringerung bei den operating expenses) ein positiver Weg, dennoch stimmt mich Umsatzverringerung eher bedenklich.

Der bisherige Umsatzschwerpunkt lag auf Viedokonferenzsystemen und einschlägige Prozessoren.
Mitte letzten Jahres wurde die strategische Neuausrichtung beschlossen, da og. Produktpalette nur verlustträchtig abzusetzen war.

Die Neupositionierung und Entwicklung marktfähiger Produkte läßt sich nun nicht sofort in Umsätze abbilden, sondern werden erst im laufe des Jahres zu Umsätze und Erträgen führen.

Weshalb übernimmt eine Gesellschaft wie ST Microelectronincs Anfang Januar 3,8 Mio Aktien, weitere Papiere wurden im letzten Jahr im Rahmen eines Privat-Placements untergebracht. Dies wäre nicht möglich, wenn man der Gesellschaft nicht zutrauen würde, in naher Zukunft vielversprechende Produkte anzubieten.
Risiken sehe ich nur im IP-Telephony-Umfeld und in wieweit nach Verteilung der Märkte hier Erträge erwirtschaftet werden können.

Zur aktuellen Kursschwäche ist festzustellen, daß der gesamte NASDAQ-Bereich momentan unter Druck steht. Bei 8x8 ist aufgrund der bisherigen Kursentwicklung der Anteil der Gewinnmitnahmen entsprechend hoch.

Inexpensive VoIP telephones or telephone adapters are key to deploying VoIP
telephone services. As broadband technology matures, adapters will be built
into cable set-top boxes, cable modems or DSL modems, in a market which

About the License Agreement
Under the terms of this agreement, ST receives a non-exclusive
royalty-bearing license for 8x8`s VoIP software and its next-generation VP7
DSP core. 8x8 VoIP software includes industry-standard call control
protocols, such as the Media Gateway Control Protocol (MGCP), H.323 and
Session Initiation Protocol (SIP). 8x8`s voice compression software, which is
based on the G.7xx series of ITU standards, is specially optimized to run on
embedded DSP cores. Support for a broad range of codecs, which run at data
rates up to 64 Kbit per second, allows service providers maximum flexibility in
managing their networks.

bin neu hier. habe die bisherigen beiträge lediglich gelesen.
jetzt habe ich mich entschlossen, auch mitzureden.

habe 8x8 schon lange im depot. dachte ich könnte clever sein und hab am
freitag eine kauforder für 12,30 in den markt gelegt, obwohl die
nachbörslichen us kurse bei 14 5/8 waren. eght ist dann bis 13,20
gelaufen und nach us eröffnung jämmerlich eingebrochen. da hab ich wohl
wieder mal etwas ins klo gegriffen.

weiß jetzt nicht ob ich sie halten soll ?
was wird denn auf dieser emerald tagung am
mittwoch rauskommen. immerhin sind dort 45
firmen vertreten. wird 8x8 da positiv überzeugen ?
könnten evtl. gute news nicht durch den gesamtmarkt
verpuffen ? immerhin ist 8x8 in den letzten wochen
sehr gut gelaufen......

Ich weiß nicht wie Du auf nachbörsliche Kurse von 14 5/8 $ kommst. Ich beziehe jedenfalls die nach börslichen Bewegungen über NASDAQ direkt und dort war donnerstags auch der nachbörsliche Handel mit Kursen zu 12,5 $.

Am Freitag ist ja nun der gesamte Tech-Sektor eingebrochen, ich denke nach der Zinserhöhung wird es wieder business as usual aufwärtsgehen. Währenddessen können wir uns zu beginn der Woche auf günstige Einstiegskurse freuen (Gesamter Tech-Bereich)

Und last but not least 8x8 hat wieder über 11 $ geschlossen, während andere Tech-Firmen mit Tiefstkursen aus dem Markt gingen. Empfehlung weiterhin : Spekulativ halten und bei Kursen um 10 $ am Montag und Dienstag nachfassen!

Sollten auf der Konferenz neue, interessante Geschäftsabschlüsse gemeldet werden, die in der vergangenen Woche auf der ComNet2000 festgezucht worden sind, gibt es sicherlich nochmal einen Schub nach oben. Die Konferenz bietet in diesem sinne eine ideale Plattform, das Unternehmen zu präsentieren und Entwicklungen vorzustellen.
Natürlich wenn die Geschäftsleitung keine Pfeile mehr im Köcher hat und die Präsentation mäßig verläuft, besteht die Gefahr, daß der kurs wieder unter die 10 $ absackt.

wer nicht wagt , der nicht gewinnt. In diesem Forum gibt es so viele "Investoren", die weitab von der Realität irgendwelchen dubiosen australischen Goldminen hinterherhecheln in der Hoffnung eine "adultshop" könnte sich wiederholen, müssen dann aber feststellen, daß Kurse suspendiert werden und Großaktionäre hinter Gittern sitzen!
Wer eine adelong (Buchwert strebte gegen 0, tortdem war man bereit bis zu 1 Euro zu zahlen, in der Spitze wurden gar Kursziele von 20 Euro hier im Borad genannt) nicht scheut, der findet mit 8x8 doch noch ein relativ "solides", wenn auch spekulatives Investment.

Einen Stopp-Kurs würde ich nichtsdestotrotz bei 8 $ legen.

nasdaq.com der link, EGHT eingeben, dann erhaltet ihr eine Reihe von Buttons , letzten anklicken, der pre and after sale angibt, für Frietag war es bei 8x8 leider nur ein Kurs, sonst etwa 6-12 Kurse.

Noch einmal Honig für die Seele: Schaut Euch mal amazon, cmgi, yahoo an oder wie sie alle heißen, Kursverluste überall, natürlich fällt auch eine 8x8 wenn der Technologiesektor weiterhin einbricht!

network is becoming more common in businesses using local-area
networks, but the untapped market remains the consumer space, which
lacks a LAN infrastructure. A deal announced last week demonstrates
that consumer broadband will soon be able to support voice traffic over
the Internet protocol.

8x8 Inc. (Santa Clara, Calif.) has signed a strategic partnership
with STMicroelectronics aimed at developing voice-over-IP systems for
home gateways. The companies will jointly develop voice-routing chips
for either cable or digital subscriber line (DSL) modems.
STMicroelectronics will make a $28 million purchase of 3.7 million
common shares in 8x8 as part of the deal.

"Packet voice traffic is coming on strong," said Bryan Martin, chief
technical officer and vice president of engineering at 8x8. "This is

deployed in the home market starting next year and that it could be
available to millions of homes across the country by 2004.

Goodbye, long-distance

Will Strauss, president of market research firm Forward Concepts
(Tempe, Ariz.), said the enterprise packet voice market is already
jelling as business link their phone systems to their data networks.
That not only virtually eliminates long-distance charges, because calls
are carried on proprietary data networks, but it also yields a variety
of useful and cost-saving applications that let small and midsize
companies emulate large-scale PBX networks without the expensive
infrastructure.

In the corporate space, most systems assign a single IP address to a
gateway, which then distributes the phone calls to individual phones.
While the technology is commonly referred to as VoIP, Strauss noted
that little of the packet voice traffic actually uses the Internet. The
Internet is intended for pure data files and generally doesn`t support
the quality of service required to ensure voice traffic streams arrive
intact.

Most of the corporate VoIP systems employ dedicated private networks
and actually utilize frame-relay technology. Systems based on DSL will
also use ATM connections. But the common thread among the formats is
that the voice calls are broken into digital packets.

"VoIP is happening," said Strauss. "The technology is already here,
and the next major market is going to be the consumer space."

Home gateway

8x8`s Martin said one of STMicroelectronics` goals is to design a
chip for cable modem set-top boxes that could function as a gateway for
an in-home VoIP network. "AT&T has described a system where the set-top
box plugs into a standard wall telephone jack, and that links all the
analog phones and fax machines in the house to the digital network," he
said. The set-top box becomes the terminus for the VoIP connection and
is responsible for turning voice traffic into packets.

Such a system will look much like today`s corporate VoIP networks,
although home consumers will continue to use their existing analog
telephones.

Adding voice capabilities to consumer broadband networks is just the
next step. Digital media will soon include many other features, said
Tom Cooper, senior vice president for corporate development at DSL
hardware and software developer Virata Corp. (Santa Clara, Calif.). DSL
and cable modems will eventually enable gaming and video-on-demand, and
adding VoIP is just one example of the ways a broadband pipe can
transform the average users` daily life.

"This is not the end for us; we have a lot more to do," Cooper said.

Ich gehe davon aus, daß die Aktie erstmal seitwärts zwischen 10,5 und 13,5 schwanken wird. Ich habe für mich einen stopp-Kurs von 8 $ gesetzt, der eingehalten wird.

Auf die Kurse hier würde ich mich nicht unbedingt verlassen.

PS: Zu Fonix, kenne ich leider nicht, wird aber auch nicht in Dtl. gehandelt, daher für mich uninteressant.

Kommt jemand an die Analyse?

Bitte dann hier einstellen. Da dies zwei Tage vor Veröffentlichung der Quartalszahlen war, dürfte m.E. der deutlich unter den Analysentschätzungen liegende Verlust je Aktie von nur noch 0,12 $ nochnicht verarbeitet sein.

Trotzdem gehe ich davon aus , daß die Analyse bereits die Kooperation mit ST Micrso. beinhalten müßte und die Auswirkungen auf den weiteren Geschäftsverlauf.

Hosted by the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineering (IEEE), the ISSCC is a traditional venue for unveiling new and
unique integrated circuit architectures.

``The last two decades have seen the rapid transition of many media from analog to digital transmission,`` stated Martin. ``First,
there was the audio CD, followed by digital television, digital video disc (DVD) and, most recently, digital cell phones. It`s clear
that voice communication is beginning the transition to digital, Internet protocol (IP) networks, but that conversion is only possible
if digital telephones can be made inexpensively.

By condensing all of the digital circuitry needed to make a digital phone on to a single chip, our Audacity-T2 chip makes
inexpensive digital phones possible.``

Inexpensive digital telephones or telephone adapters are key to deploying IP telephone services. As broadband technology
matures, adapters will be built into cable set-top boxes, cable modems or DSL modems, in a market which is expected to exceed
six million units by 2004, according to market research firm Forward Concepts. At the heart of these adapters, or IP telephones,
is a chip such as the Audacity-T2 Processor for call control processing and audio compression.

About the Audacity-T2 Processor

The Audacity-T2 IP Telephone Processor, an Internet protocol (IP) telephone on a chip. By combining all of the digital
processing circuitry required for a full-function, IP telephone on a single chip, the T2 Processor makes it straightforward for
telephony equipment manufacturers to build cost-effective, high-quality telephones for broadband IP network applications.

The T2 Processor is ideal for use in IP feature phones for business applications on corporate LANs and consumer IP telephones
for use on cable modem and DSL networks. In addition to the processor itself, 8x8 provides all of the software required for IP
voice communication, including the H.323 v2, Media Gateway Control Protocol (MGCP), Session Initiation Protocol (SIP)
control protocol stacks, and the most popular G.7xx audio compression algorithms (codecs).

The T2 Processor is built around 8x8`s MIPS-X5 unified RISC CPU/DSP engine, which is designed to run both compiled `C`
code and DSP algorithms efficiently. In addition to the CPU/DSP engine, the T2 Processor incorporates a 32-channel DMA
engine and a non-blocking crosspoint switch to ensure optimal system performance. Sufficient on-chip memory is provided to
eliminate the need for external RAM when running any supported communication protocol or codec.

The Audacity-T2 Processor also incorporates dual Ethernet Media Access Controllers (MACs), one for connecting to a network
and one for connecting to a computer. The inclusion of MAC functionality allows an IP telephone to serve as a two-channel
layer-2 Ethernet switch, eliminating the need for two Ethernet connections to the desktop.

This switch facility can be programmed to give priority to audio packets, buffering data packets to and from the attached PC, thus
controlling quality of service (QoS). The MACs are full duplex and support both 10 and 100 Mbps data rates.

To eliminate the need for expensive glue logic, the T2 Processor connects directly to network physical layer chips, keypads, and
character display devices. Two TDM (time division multiplexed) ports provide multi-channel synchronous interfaces for audio
data, permitting connection to a telephone handset, or a microphone and speaker (for speakerphone implementations).

The T2 Processor is packaged in a 196-pin flexible ball grid array (flexBGA). The chip is manufactured in a 0.18-micron,
1.8-volt CMOS process with 3.3 volt interfaces. The chip dissipates an estimated 0.25 watts in full operation.

Nun ja, wenn diesen Gesellschaften ein unbegrenztes Wachstumspotetial prophezeit wird, warum sollten dann nicht dren Zulieferer (Chip-Satz und Software-Hersteller) auch einer goldene Zukunft entgegenstreben.

Als ein strategischer Zulieferer im IP-Telefoniebreich ist sicherlich die 8x8 und geringerem Maße evtentuell auch eine path 1. Dominierend ist zwar bisher eine Cisco aber Nischenplayer finden auch oftmals ihren adäquaten Platz!

The Audacity Internet Telephony Processor is the only processor that provides network protocol management and

IP-Telephony als Zukunftsmarkt

The fund, formerly called the HomeState Year 2000 Fund, earned 186.2
percent in 1999 and is up 52.93 percent this year through March 7, according
to fund-tracker Morningstar. It has about $19 million in assets.
Emerald Advisers, the fund`s investment adviser, announced last week it was
changing the name and broadening the focus of the fund to include all
technology stocks. Steven Russell will also join the fund as another manager.
While some fund pros warned that the Y2K investing theme was too narrow,
and the fund is tiny compared to most of its peers, it is ranked in the 14th
percentile in 1999 and the 5th percentile this year, Morningstar said.
Among the top holdings is 8X8 Inc. (EGHT: Research, Estimates), which
makes chips for voice-over-Internet protocols, the technology that allows people
to talk on the telephone via the Internet. Another investment is Clarent Corp.
(CLRN: Research, Estimates), a maker of hardware and software for voice-over
IPs.
"It`s tough to say we`re going to have another 1999, but we`re going to try,"
Mertz said.
Mercury, the third-largest holding, is up 119 percent this year as of March 7,
Mertz said. In the trailing 12 months, it is up about 500 percent, he said.
"The original impetus was that these companies got contracts to work on
Y2K," Mertz said. "The good companies were able to transform themselves to
provide services in the Internet area."
