IBM und Pacific Internet bilden JV - 500 Beiträge pro Seite

SINGAPORE (CBS.MW) -- Internet service provider Pacific Internet and IBM Singapore reportedly are planning to form an alliance worth an estimated $10 million to develop e-business solutions for companies in the Asia Pacific region, according to media reports.

An article from Reuters news service, a memorandum of understanding would be signed on February 9.

Pacific Internet - eBusiness-Kooperation mit IBM

Pacific Internet (Nasdaq:PCNTF), ein führender Internet Service
Provider (ISP) in Singapur, hat am späten Donnerstagabend eine Kooperation mit
International Business Machines (NYSE:IBM) angekündigt.
Gemeinsam werden die Unternehmen eBusiness-Lösungen für Internetfirmen im
asiatisch-pazifischen Raum erarbeiten. Die Zusammenarbeit hat ein anfängliches
Volumen von 10 Millionen US-Dollar.

Eine entsprechende Absichtserklärung wird am 9.Februar unterzeichnet werden.

Habe die Meldung auch gelesen. Hört sich sehr interessant an. Besonders da die Meldung nach Handelsschluß der Nasdaq raus kam. Dortiges Börsenkürzel übrigens PCNTF. Wird derzeit auch in Deutschland noch sehr günstig gehandelt.

Habe außerdem noch folgenden Artikel bei quicken.com gefunden.

SINGAPORE (Dow Jones)--Internet service provider Pacific Internet Ltd. (PCNTF)
said Friday that it would develop software jointly with International Business
Machines Corp. (IBM) for business-to-business transactions on the Internet.

The service will be available on Pacific Internet`s e-business portal,
Pacfusion.com, Pacific Internet said.

With the partnership, Pacific Internet will be able to expand its e-commerce
services, a spokesperson for Pacific Internet said.

Currently, e-commerce activities on Pacfusion.com are limited to the
business-to-consumer model, with wine distributors, flower vendors and other
retailers selling their wares to the site`s viewers.

The value of the venture between Nasdaq-listed Pacific Internet and IBM was put
at US$10 million, a statement released by the two companies said.

In a separate statement, Pacific Internet said it will boost content of the
Pacfusion.com site with an alliance with Asiacontent.com. Selected entertainment
content from Asiacontent.com`s online brands, MTV Asia.com and E!Online, will be
featured in Pacfusion.com.

Available first in English, the Chinese language versions will be rolled out
later, the press release said. A Pacific Internet spokesperson said that the
Chinese-language version of the Web site hopes to attract viewers from the rest
of Asia, and the move is in line with the company`s strategy to grow beyond the
Singapore market.

Singapore conglomerate SembCorp Industries Ltd. (P.SEC) has a 42% stake in
Pacific Internet.

Hallo KiKo,
es gibt noch eine weitere Meldung, daß nämlich SempCorp
ihren Anteil an PCNTF verkaufen wollen.

Ich weiß nicht, was das bedeutet. Auf jeden Fall
hat der Kurs von PCNTF darauf nicht negativ reagiert.

Ich hoffe mal, daß die IBM Meldung heute einschlägt und der Kurs
bis über 75$ steigt.

An wen will denn SembCorp ihre Anteile verkaufen? Es wurde doch von S.Harmon immer als Vorteil hervorgehoben, daß der Background einer finanzkräftigen Muttergesellschaft gegeben ist.
Die B2B-Nachricht klingt sehr interessant, es gibt nicht gerade viele B2B-Spieler in Asien, da könnte Pcntf eine Vorreiterrolle ?Eernehmen.
Vielleicht fehlt dem Wert ein wenig die Phantasie, vielleicht wird er deshalb nicht so oft an diesem Board besprochen. Bei etwa 700 Mio.US$ Marktkapitalisierung ist Pcntf aber bald an einer kritischen Grenze angelangt, wo er f?E große Pensions- und andere Fonds interessant werden könnte, die Schallmauer soll ja etwa bei 1 Mrd. US$ liegen.

SembCorp überlegt sich das noch mit dem Verkauf, weil PCNTF jetzt wesentlich besser dasteht, aber lest selbst: (ich halte das für sehr positiv)

SembCorp says reviewing PacNet sale

SINGAPORE, Feb 3 (Reuters) - SembCorp Industries said on Thursday it was reviewing a possible sale of its 42-percent stake in Pacific Internet (NasdaqNM:PCNTF - news) following the liberalisation of Singapore`s telecoms market two years ahead of schedule.
``Our position on the sale (of Pacific Internet) is being reviewed because we recognise the operating environment is no longer the same as it was in October last year,`` a SembCorp Industries spokesman said, clarifying an earlier comment that SembCorp was still looking to sell its stake.
``The liberalisation of the local telecommunications industry will have to be factored into whatever plans we make for Pacific Internet,`` the spokesman added.
The spokesman said earlier in response to a Reuters` query that SembCorp`s openly-stated desire to sell the Nasdaq-listed Internet Service Provider unit remained valid.
SembCorp chief Wong Kok Siew had said in October it would sell the ISP to a strategic partner to grow the business.
SembCorp`s core businesses would continue to be infrastructure, information technology and marine engineering, the spokesman said.
A Straits Times report published on Thursday quoted unnamed sources that SembCorp might rethink selling its PacNet stake after the government`s surprise move to completely free up the Singapore telecoms market in April.
The report said SembCorp might use PacNet as a vehicle for new telecommunications service offerings.

Kommt ganz auf den "strategic partner" an und ob PacNet dann in das Unternehmen einverleibt werden soll oder doch eine eher selbständige Tochterfirma bleibt. Ein großer Spieler aus den USA, Japan oder HK w?Ede f?E viel Phantasie sorgen, man schaue sich nur einmal Cheung Wah an. Auch ein Medienkonzern könnte aufgrund der wichtigen Inhalte durchaus interessant sein, er sollte sich dann aber mehr im Hintergrund halten,
