      @Teleinfo: In den USA, in Frankfurt und in Berlin.

      Ein sehr guter Kauf auf diesem Niveau!!! Die langfristigen Aussichten waren noch nie so gut, wie sie im Moment sind. Der Dow Jones (DAX, Euro Stoxx) und der Nasdaq (Nemax) werden sehr bald noch weitere sehr heftige Schläge einstecken müssen.

      Trendwende in dem breiten Markt? -> LOL!!! Der Dow Jones muß noch mindestens 2.000 Punkte herunter und der Nasdaq Composite muß auch noch 500 Punkte herunter. Die Aktien sind im Verhältnis zu Ihren Gewinnen immer noch viel zu teuer. Nur Leute, die noch einmal Geld verlieren wollen, kaufen sich jetzt Aktien von dem breiten Markt. Das smarte Money kauft sich jetzt Gold- und Silberminenaktien auf diesem Niveau.

      Das Gold wird höher steigen. Gründe:
      1. Gold befindet sich im bullishen Aufwärtstrend. Solange dieser Trend intakt bleibt, wird das Gold im Preis steigen können.
      2. GSS und das Gold wurde von den schwachen Händen und den Warmduschern verprügelt. Auch Mutual Funds befinden sich darunter.
      3. Inflation/Deflation wird bald kommen.
      4. Der breite Aktienmarkt (Dow Jones, Nasdaq, DAX, Nemax) hat noch lange nicht seinen Boden gefunden und wird bald wieder stark abschmieren.
      5. Der Dollar wird wesentlich schwächer werden.
      6. Bush wird dieses Jahr wahrscheinlich noch den Irak angreifen, weil sein vater damals verloren hatte.
      7. Bin Ladin werden die USA wahrscheinlich niemals finden.
      8. Die US-Regierung ist total fehlgeleitet.
      9. Die Goldmanipulation kann nicht mehr länger aufrecht erhalten werden, um die JP Morgan und Citigroup zu retten.
      9. Große Banken (JP Morgan, Citigroup) werden wahrscheinlich aufgrund von Enron, Worldcom, etc., kollabieren.

      Und GSS hat Gewinne von 8 - 10 cents und ein P/E von weniger als 10. Und dazu kommt eine Ankündigung von einer Produktionsverdoppelung (-> Wassu Mine!)

      Kauft diesen kleinen Giganten: "GSS" (The American Stock Exchange), "GSC" (The Toronto Stock Exchange) und "GS5" (Berlin Stock Exchange). Dieses ist ein großartiger Deal, weil diese Aktie massiv nach unten manipuliert worden ist. GS5 wird als Ergebnis sehr schön steigen. Ich hoffe sie bald zwischen $2,- und 3,- zu sehen.

      Umsätze in Berlin sind allerdings mickrig, Frankfurt kann man glatt vergessen.

      Bei den Charts ist zu beachten, daß die meisten erst mit dem 19.6.02 beginnen, als GSS in USA von OTC zu AMEX wechselte. Den beeindruckenden Sprung von 1,3 bis über 2 USD im Frühjahr sieht man da leider nicht. Etwas ähnliches erwarte ich genau wie Peter wieder.

      GSS = eine Aktien mit sehr starken Fundamentals. Ein großes Geschenk im Moment! (-> Warrants: GSC_t TO).
      Bei $0,90 kannst du auf einen 3-fachen Gewinn sehen, wenn die Aktien auf ihre letzten Hochs zurückkommt. Die Fundamentals mit oder ohne einer Steigerung bei dem Goldpreis sollte die Aktie leicht dorthin wieder heben können und höher. Es ist aktuell irgendeine andere Aktie in dem Gold Universum mit solch einer Attraktivität wie bei GSS und GSC_t TO zu finden! Ich empfehle aktuell eine starke Übergewichtung bei beiden Werten!

      GSS wird selbst seinen Aktienkurs hinaus pushen bis zuletzt zu dem Ausübungskurs von dem Warrant um das verbleibende Cash zu bekommen. (C$15m). Wenn du GSS hier unten kaufst, dann könnte ich nur schwer glauben, das GSS nicht mindestens auf $1,50 steigen wird, welches für dich ein 65% Return wäre. Wenn du dir den Chart anschaust, dann wirst du sehen, das GSS sehr leicht so eine Bewegung innerhalb eines Monats machen kann.

Golden Star Resources Limited ist engagiert in dem Geschäft von Exploration, Akquisition und Entwicklung von Precious Metals Vorkommen in Südamerika und Afrika. Für das Quartal geendet am 31.03.02 die Einnahmen steigen um 93% auf $9,3M. Das Net Income gemäß U.S. GAAP gesamt $1,3M.       Die Gewinne bei GSS werden gut sein. Und sie sind dabei einen 90% Anteil in dem Wassa Gold Projekt in Ghana zu akquierieren. GSS ist ein kleiner Gigant, der momentan noch schläft aber bald kraftvoll erwachen wird.

      The statistics above are telling us nothing that we didn,t know before, but the numbers are simply staggering. As open interest declined by over 24,000 contracts, as prices collapsed, long speculators exited their positions in grand force as the trade, the commercials, bought over 35,000 contracts. It is eminently clear that prices, once forced higher by speculative buying, were simply forced lower by selling from the same source. And, in the end (drum roll, please.) the commercials were again right and most of the speculators were sheared of their wool. The age-old truism of following the commercials has, in the end, proven to be the best and most reliable path in trading. And now, that the speculators are home licking their wounds and the commercials are buying, we can go higher in price. The last few weeks were clearly a "bear raid in a bull market, but uncharacteristically, it would appear that the specs did it to themselves and were not the victims of the commercials. You know, there are times when God shows himself (ok, herself) to the market as such elegance cannot be of earthly manufacture.

      Nevertheless, after such numbers, I must believe that we grind higher in price now.

      Break Even für das aktuelle operative Geschäft beträgt ungefähr $285,-/oz. Das aktuelle operative Geschäft (Bogoso/Prestea) produziert ungefähr 30.000 oz/Quartal. Dieses sieht nach einer Steigerung aus und sollte am Jahresende auf 40.000 oz/Quartal gestiegen sein. Cash Cost bei der Mine sind $200/oz und fällt mit der Zeit. GSS sollte ungefähr $0,10/share verdienen und ich könnte mir vorstellen diese Aktie zwischen $2,00 - 2,50 zu sehen. Wenn der Goldpreis auf $350 steigt, dann verdient GSS pro Aktie $0,20+ und ich könnte mir vorstellen diese Aktie bei $4,00 zu sehen.
      Die Wassa Akquisition: Und dieses ist vielleicht der Grund für das Angebot. Sie sollte bereits beendet worden sein im Juli. Es sieht nach einer Kapazität von 100.000 oz/Jahr aus. Dieses würde die Goldproduktion verdoppeln, auch wenn es etwas höhere Produktionskosten (~ $240/oz) sind. Dieses würde zusätzliche Gewinne pro Aktie von $0,05 - 0,10 bringen. Das Timing hängt von dem aktuellem Status der Mine ab. Vielleicht wird GSS in seinem Gewinnbericht darauf eingehen.
      Wenn der Goldpreis über $290/oz bleibt und vielleicht auf $350/oz steigt, dann sieht GSS sehr attraktiv aus.

      Announcement of New Chief Executive Should Presage Fireworks At The World Gold Council.


      Pierre Lassonde kicked off the Diggers ‘n Dealers Conference in Kalgoorlie in Western Australia with a forecast that gold was still at the beginning of a major bull trend. It was what his committed audience wanted to hear, but Mr Lassonde is no mere populist, but says what he means.. When Gold Fields and Franco Nevada, as it then was, were proposing to merge a couple of years ago, Minews ventured that it would bring together the three best brains in the gold mining industry - Pierre, his partner Seymour Schulich and Chris Thompson of Gold Fields.

      Since then Franco Nevada has played a pivot role in Newmont’s acquisition of Normandy Mining and Gold Fields overtook AngloGold in terms of market capitalisation. Chris Thompson has now moved out of the hot seat at Gold Fields to be non-executive chairman and is the new chairman of the World Gold Council where some very fundamental changes can be expected.

      As was his due Pierre Lassonde was the first company speaker, along with John Dow, for Newmont Mining Corporation. The timing was excellent as Newmont had just said that said it would look at ways to acccelerate its unravelling of the hedge positions it inherited with the takeover of Normandy and confirmed that it had already unwound some two million ounces of the 10-milion ounce position.

      Another twelve companies followed in a very hectic first day to the Diggers ‘n’ Dealers. One wonders how many of the delegates sit through the whole lot and how many spend their time networking as at the Indaba in Cape Town. From a journalistic point of view it is a pity that the organisers do not insist on carrying the presentation on the Conference website as soon as possible after the speakers sit down instead of expecting the companies to publish them on their own web sites. Some do, some don’t, and a lot of journo time is wasted looking for them.

      Anyway Mr Lassonde’s timing was good as gold was "fixed" in the London morning session at US$307.60 a troy ounce, up from the previous $305.50 an ounce to reach its highest fix level since July 26. The spot price touched US$309 in the morning session before settling a bit lower and this action confirmed the opinion of a number of analysts who see it tied to equity markets as European share prices fell back once again. Investors continued to ponder last week`s poor U.S. economic data in a bid to work out where the world`s economies and stock markets will head from here and whether the world`s biggest economy was set for a "double dip" recession.

      The gold maestro was not going to be pinned to any particular price at any particular time, but suggested that bullion could be trading at US$340/oz to US$350/oz in less than two year’s time and could be a lot higher than that. He saw the devaluation of the dollar being a key driver and pointed out that back in 1985 the US dollar fell by 33 per cent and gold rose at the same time from US$300/oz to US$350/oz some 60% from US$300/oz to US$500/oz. Lassonde drew attention to the fact that the US trade account was around US$450 million in the red. An inflow of US$1.3 billion a day was required to service this and there is a limit to how long this can continue. So far the dollar has fallen by 10 per cent, but he reckoned it had much further to go.

      Pierre Lassonde then went on to flesh out this contention about the falling dollar, weak equity markets and the rising gold price with examples from the 1930s. He ended by giving his Australian audience – I am an Australian, therefore I hedge – a lecture on what he described as the “bane of this industry for the last 10 years.” He reckons it is now a fad of the past which is just as well as he had calculated that every 100 tonnes of gold hedged reduces the bullion price by US$5/oz. On this basis the elimination of between 300 and 400 tonnes of hedging expected this year should boost the gold price by nearly US$20 million.

      He then pre-empted his friend Chris Thompson by announcing that Newmont is working with the new boss of the WGC to produce a new gold instrument which would take anything from 500 to 1000 tonnes of gold off the market each year. Thompson is actually visiting London this week and may well have been planning to combine a comment on this with the announcement of his new CEO who will be someone very well known, but from outside the gold industry. The fact that Lassonde and Thompson are working together on this certainly means that some fireworks can be expected at the World Gold Council in the next few months

      Laßt uns mehr über das Gold reden. Wie ich es sehe, werden die Fonds bald verstärkt Goldaktien kaufen. Ich denke das dabei Ihre erste Wahl auf Newmont Mining fallen wird.
      Aber nun ein paar Gedanken: Irgendwo in naher Zukunft glaube ich, das wir einen expandierenden explosiven Gold bull market sehen werden. Und ebenso einen explodierenden Goldpreis.
      Wenn dieses passiert und ich glaube es wird passieren!, dann werden die großen prozentualen Kurssteigerungen möglicherweise bei den sekundären kleinen Goldaktien gesehen, solche wie: CBJ, GSS, KGC, DROOY, AEM, GLG, GG und GFI.
      Meine Gedanken sind diese: kaufe beide Ende von diesem Spektrum - - kaufe aktuell Goldmünzen, solche wie Krugerrands und kaufe auch die spekulativen billigen Goldminenaktien. (z.B. eine Goldaktie kann von $26,- auf 50 oder 75 gehen)

      The administration of Junichiro Koizumi, Japan`s prime minister, on Thursday set the stage for one of the most significant policy U-turns in its 16-month rule by indicating that it may keep in place full government guarantees on ordinary bank accounts.

      Full deposit guarantees were introduced in June 1996 to shore up confidence in the banks after a series of collapses. Their scheduled removal next April and replacement with a ¥10m ($83,500) cap was supposed to signal that the banks were strong enough to stand alone.

      For 44 months it has been the contention of The Gold Anti-Trust Action Committee that bullion banks J.P. Morgan and Chase Manhattan (now J.P. Morgan Chase) manipulated the price of gold in violation of the anti-trust laws of the United States. The evidence is overwhelming, as is their revealing financial track record of misbehavior over the recent years. Below says it all:

      "Arguing against the bank in both cases is Alan Levine, a lawyer at Kronish, Lieb, Weiner & Hellman in New York, who hopes to strengthen the Enron case by arguing that there has been a pattern at J.P. Morgan Chase."

      The gold derivatives on the books of J.P. Morgan Chase are enormous, their notional value last reported at $45.2 billion. Those derivatives are derived from gold borrowed from central banks. It is GATA,s contention that a good amount of those derivatives represent gold loans/swaps that are used to manipulate the gold price and keep it at artificially low levels.

      According to CEO William Harrison (who was paid $21 million last year), J.P. Morgan Chase is a funding operation. For the last 7 years there has been no cheaper source of funding than gold loans. Gold is borrowed from the central banks at .5% to 1% and sold into the physical market. The proceeds from the sale are then used as the borrower sees fit. The fly-in-the-ointment is the gold price. It MUST be kept steady, or in a downtrend. Gold borrowed at $300 per ounce and paid back at $400 per ounce would be disastrous to the borrower. Imagine if gold were to fly to $500!

      Think of the money made these past 7 years by those who were in on the gold fix. It is astronomical! In essence, they have had almost free money to invest as they so chose. How would you have done investment-wise these past 7 years if you could have borrowed money from your local banker at a 1% interest rate?

      Yes, you will see a J.P. Morgan Chase loan/ commodity price manipulation pattern in the stories below. [to follow...Ed] First, it was in copper. They ended up paying a $125 million fine for that caper, but they made so much money in these schemes that did not stop them. They graduated to the more lucrative oil/natural gas price-fixing schemes, etc, with Enron.

      That blew up.

      That was not enough for Morgan and fellow bullion banker Citibank, whose firm is now caught in another commodity scam of sorts: that being telecommunications.

      That is now blowing up.

      How long is it going to take the regulators to get to the biggest outrage of all, the gold scandal? A fraud that has hurt so many innocent people around the world.

      The irony is that unlike many of the other scandals, the evidence of bullion banker misconduct has been in the public domain for years.

      Someday, probably after the price of gold explodes, the asleep regulators will wake up. The gold scandal, the mother of all the bullion banking frauds, will be front-page news around the world for many months. The outrage will be like no other when the world realizes what occurred, by whom and why.

(Amex: GSS, TSE: GSC)("Golden Star" or the "Company") is pleased to announce that it has finalized and executed the definitive documentation for the acquisition of a 90% beneficial interest in the Wassa gold mine ("Wassa") in Ghana and has obtained all necessary approvals in Ghana from the Government and the Bank of Ghana for both the acquisition funding and to complete the transaction. The parties now expect to formally close the transaction within the next few weeks.

      Golden Star has mobilized its personnel to Wassa and has commenced an exploration program aimed at (i) confirming the reserves reported by the previous operator, and (ii) testing a number of highly prospective but untested zones on the Wassa property to potentially increase the reserves. In parallel with this exploration program, Golden Star intends to carry out feasibility study work for the redevelopment of the existing heap leach mine at Wassa as a conventional milling and carbon-in-leach ("CIL") project with the aim of being able to make a development decision in early 2003 so that production at Wassa can recommence at a potential production rate of about 120,000 ounces per annum as early as the end of 2003.

      Peter Bradford, President and CEO of Golden Star said: "We are excited about the potential to redevelop Wassa and the potential to nearly double our group production to about 250,000 ounces by the end of 2003. More importantly, we are excited by the exploration potential at Wassa and in the surrounding areas, and the existence of highly persistent anomalous gold zones on the property that have not previously been drill tested."

      Wassa was previously operated as a heap leach mine, producing an average of 92,500 ounces of gold per annum, prior to being placed on care and maintenance in late 2001. The heap leach technology employed was not well suited to the Wassa ore type, which resulted in a number of technical and financial problems. However, laboratory testing indicates that the Wassa ore does respond very well to conventional CIL processing as used at Golden Star`s Bogoso/Prestea operation, which is located about 35km west of Wassa.

      Under the previously announced terms for the acquisition, Golden Star has agreed to pay an initial consideration of $4.0 million at closing plus a deferred consideration of $5.0 million linked to the future recommencement of production at Wassa. Both the initial and deferred consideration are being funded by a syndicate of banks led by Standard Bank London Limited and are repayable over a four year term. In addition, a gold production royalty will be paid on future gold production from Wassa. The royalty will be paid quarterly and will be determined by multiplying the production from Wassa for each quarter by a royalty rate of $7.00 per ounce produced. The royalty rate will increase by $1.00 for each $10.00 increase in the average market price for gold for each quarter above $280 per ounce up to a cap of $15.00 per ounce.

      Golden Star holds a 90% equity interest in the Bogoso/Prestea open-pit gold mine and a 45% managing equity interest in the Prestea underground mine in Ghana. In addition, we have other gold exploration interests in West Africa, as well as the Guiana Shield in South America. Golden Star currently has approximately 83 million shares outstanding and is listed on the Toronto Stock Exchange under the symbol "GSC" and on The American Stock Exchange under the symbol "GSS." The Company also trades on the Berlin Stock Exchange under the ticker symbol "GS5."

      This is going to be the toughest call of this entire $300 - $330 sideways movement. The reason why is because, as we enter the $320 - $325 range, there is a knee-jerk reaction in the gold market. The gold market is so used to the arrival of JPM, Lehman, Goldman and Merrill as sellers pounding the market, that gold shares now almost automatically decelerate, as a knee-jerk reaction to gold being at the the $320 -$325 price. At this price, the gold shares` appreciation decelerates and actually stops dead in their tracks.

      What the market has failed to realize is that these gold dealers, due to their own liquidity situations, are now no longer the big position takers in gold as they were before. All they have been doing lately is exercising clients` orders. The sellers of gold that have come into gold market at the $320 - $325 area have not been the gold cartel. They have been the local floor traders and speculator computer traders. Again, not the cartel. This is why we have had higher lows as we chop sideways.

      I firmly believe the chances of taking out the $330 level to the upside before Christmas is real because the significant enemy of the gold price, the gold cartel, is out of business. They have had their trading capital called back to the parent holding company because of the effects of the credit downgrade on the parent holding companies. When the market wakes up that the enemy is no longer there, no event will be required to take gold above $330. It will simply go there.

      Here is how we will determine if gold is going to break out above $330:

      Have you wondered how I was able to determine the heads up and buy/sell points in this rally? Well, thanks to RGLD/GG and the use of proprietary measures in the duration period of the chart, the slow stochastic and Williams %R, I have when these leading (action-wise) gold shares entered an oversold condition, began to look for the buy and overbought for the sell. Now as gold approaches $330, if the gold shares (which historically know more about gold than gold does) are not into the overbought condition that have been so accurate, we will assume $330 is going to breach and NOT SELL our 1/3.

      This means we are remaining disciplined, but being superbly focused. I will, as we near this situation, be doing daily technical reviews. I consider the market at this time more critically positive than ever before in this 11-month rally. The magnificently symmetric, three-year golden tea cup formation* would break to the upside out of the handle at a close above $330. This type of a formation, over this amount of time, is extremely rare and super bullish. I have in my 43 years never seen a technical formation of this kind for this long a duration with this type of symmetry. It is rare and important. This type of a formation will launch only one thing, a huge Bull market, if resolved to the upside. The probability of failure after gold breaks to the upside above $330 from this type of a formation is less than 10%. Those odds are outrageously good for the long.

      We know the bull market in gold started 11 months ago, but history will record the breakout above the handle on the golden tea cup as "The Birth of the Gold Bull Market." This will occur because the amount of appreciation above the handle will be orders of magnitude compared to the 11-month appreciation we have already witnessed.       There is no question that after gold reached $359 this morning, a natural place for a temporary reaction that I pointed out to you, the drive down to $348 was at the hand of our dear friends, the gold cartel - and it was quite telling.

      That was not a sign of gold`s weakness but rather to professional trader`s confirmation of shear fear on the part of the major commercial short sellers. COT (Commitment of Traders), since it is heavy on the bear side among the commercials, a.k.a. the gold cartel of common interest, should be renamed TW-COT (Terrified Weak Commitment of Traders).

      Two Down- Ninety nine to go!

      The reason given for the drive down was the capture of two of the sons of Bin Laden in Afghanistan. Wow, if anything meant nothing that has to be it. Has anybody out there ever heard of how many sons he has? It is in that tradition an honor to die and the sacrifice of all of one`s sons is considered laudable. No, that was an opportunity for the shorts to attempt to destroy the reverse head and shoulders formation.

      I am beginning to believe that more than the faithful read my thoughts faithfully.

      Conclusion:

      The reverse head and shoulders will rebuild and complete and bury TW-COT. By the way it was me you ran into at the low today. Now you have gotten my competitive spirits up. In the last go around I bought 22,000 long from you. This time it may have to be orders of magnitude greater than that.

      But hear me, JPM, ML, SB & GS, I am going to bury you at your own game. You cannot scare me because I am better at this than you are. Money means nothing whatsoever to me. It is the game that counts, so now the opposition to your fraudulent derivatives has taken on a new life - mine. Get ready to see $400 at your back.

      HOUSTON (Reuters) -- A Halliburton Co. HAL.N subsidiary Kellogg, Brown & Root (KBR) has won the contract to oversee any firefighting operations at Iraqi oilfields after any U.S.-led invasion, a Defense Department source said on Thursday.

      KBR was widely viewed by many in the oilfield services industry as the likely candidate to oversee firefighting in Iraq`s oilfields. Halliburton does extensive logistic support work for the U.S. military.

      Vice President Dick Cheney served as Halliburton`s chief executive officer from 1995 to 2000,

      A possible beneficiary of Thursday`s deal is oilwell firefighting company Boots & Coots International Well Control Inc., with which Halliburton has had an alliance since 1995.

      A Halliburton spokeswoman declined comment and referred all questions to the Defense Department."

      New York, March 7 (Bloomberg) -- Citigroup Inc. and J.P. Morgan Chase & Co. helped Enron Corp. hide billions of dollars in debt with disguised loans and other accounting gimmicks, says a report by a federal bankruptcy examiner investigating whether the banks are responsible for investor losses.

      The banks, the two largest in the U.S., were singled out in the report for playing ``a significant role`` in the deception that led to Enron`s collapse. Neal Batson, an Atlanta lawyer appointed by the Justice Department to study the energy company`s finances, said the banks were complicit in a technique that let Enron report $10.2 billion in debt on Dec. 31, 2000, when it actually owed $22.1 billion.

      ``The real question is did the banks know that Enron was making misleading financial statements to investors`` or were they careless, said Michael Simons, a St. Johns University law professor. Deliberately taking part in deception would expose the banks to criminal charges as well as civil damages, he said.

      Batson`s findings may provide ammunition to investors who have sued the banks and other defendants for more than $25 billion in damages. The examiner will issue another report in June that will examine the liability of the banks, as well as law firms and accountants that advised Enron.

      Relying on Accountants

      ``In Citi`s transactions with Enron, Citi relied on Enron, its accountants and advisers to report these transactions properly,`` said Christina Pretto, a Citigroup spokeswoman, when asked to comment on the Batson report.

      Karen Denne, an Enron spokeswoman, and J.P. Morgan spokeswoman Kristin Lemkau declined to comment.

      Shares of Citigroup rose 37 cents to close at $33.16 and J.P. Morgan shares rose 29 cents to close at $22.29 in New York Stock Exchange Composite trading. Enron shares, which peaked at more than $90 in September 2000, fell less than 1 cent to 4.9 cents in over-the-counter trading.

      Citigroup and J.P. Morgan are also Enron`s largest creditors in the bankruptcy case before Judge Arthur Gonzalez in New York, putting them in the position of seeking a share of the energy company`s remaining assets.

      Citigroup has filed more than $4.7 billion in claims and J.P. Morgan is owed more than $1.9 billion, court papers show. The banks may lose some or all of their bankruptcy claims if it`s proved they knowingly aided fraud.

      Each bank has set aside about $900 million to cover fines or potential liability from shareholder suits.

      A Lengthy Document

      Batson`s report, a 2,147-page document made public on Wednesday, provides the most comprehensive account yet of the dealings that helped Enron rapidly grow to be the seventh-largest company in the U.S. by sales and ultimately led to a $68 billion loss of market value and bankruptcy.

      Hundreds of bankers, including Credit Suisse First Boston investment banking chief Adebayo Ogunlesi and six other CSFB executives have been subpoenaed by Batson to testify about Enron`s accounting practices. The CSFB executives are trying to delay their testimony until they can coordinate evidence requests stemming from investor suits, Batson said in court papers.

      Batson`s report says Citibank and J.P. Morgan helped Enron use a variety of transactions known as prepays, off-books partnerships, share trusts and minority-interest financing to improve the company`s reported earnings.

      Many of the transactions violated accounting rules and securities law by letting Enron report results that ``bore little resemblance`` to the company`s condition or performance, Batson said.

      Special Purpose Entities

      The banks ``helped Enron structure the transactions, providing the funding either directly or indirectly, and assisting in forming`` the so-called special purpose entities that Enron used to hide debt, his report said. ``Both lenders recognized that the prepay transactions were essentially loans.``

      Enron investors who have sued have called the arrangements ``an enormous Ponzi scheme.``

      Trey Davis, a spokesman for the California Public Employment Retirement System, the lead shareholder plaintiff in the suits, welcomed Batson`s findings.

      ``We are pleased that the examiner continues to confirm the allegations`` made by the University of California, he said.

      Enron shareholders have also sued Merrill Lynch & Co., Bank of America Corp., Credit Suisse First Boston, Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce, Barclays PLC and Lehman Brothers Holding Co. The banks have denied any wrongdoing in lending money to, or setting up partnerships with Enron.

      $5 Billion Booked

      Of the $5 billion Enron booked as revenue from prepay transactions, it reported only $148.2 million as debt on its financial statement, Batson`s report said.

      Enron ``engineered`` its financial statements because it needed cash and wanted to keep its investment-grade credit rating, Batson said. By booking revenue from contracts long before the money was paid, Enron faced shortfalls that were ``apparently a serious problem`` by 1999, the report said.

      In December 1999, less than a month before closing its books for the year, Enron borrowed $500 million from Citibank and investors and then sold the debt. The Houston-based company reported the proceeds of the sale as revenue, Batson said.

      The $500 million accounted for 40 percent of Enron`s cash flow that year, according to the report. Enron repaid the debt on Jan. 14, 2000, ``having achieved this significant impact on its 1999 financial statements`` in one of Enron`s ``clearest violations`` of accounting standards, the report said.

      Fastow`s Role

      Andrew Fastow, Enron`s former chief financial officer, received at least $60.6 million from off-the-books partnership deals, far more than previous estimates, Batson said. In addition, former Enron executives Michael Kopper and William Dodson got at least $33.4 million total, the report said.

      Fastow reported the $5 billion in disguised loans in a report to the company on Aug. 13, 2001, Batson said. The next day, Jeffrey Skilling resigned as Enron`s chief executive officer. Skilling has said his departure was ``purely a personal decision.``

      A year-old report by an investigative committee of the Enron`s board said top executives at the company amassed fortunes while hiding the company`s true financial condition. The officials inflated Enron`s earnings by more than $1 billion in one year alone, that report said.

      Doody says his valuation model is a starting point for identifying undervalued mining shares. "This is a very simplistic approach, but it`sa methodone can use to start evaluating the gold stocks." The gold analyst is sticking to his 2003 forecast of a $450 gold price.

      The unanimous Declaration of the thirteen united States of America,

      When in the Course of human events, it becomes necessary for one people to dissolve the political bands which have connected them with another, and to assume among the powers of the earth, the separate and equal station to which the Laws of Nature and of Nature`s God entitle them, a decent respect to the opinions of mankind requires that they should declare the causes which impel them to the separation.

      We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness. --That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed, --That whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new Government, laying its foundation on such principles and organizing its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their Safety and Happiness.       The post by Foo refering to the Bloomberg article is the hole in the USS Titanic

      I cannot in good conscience support organized crime. Crime is evil, it is the enemy to life liberty and the pursuit of happiness. Is there any argument to this? The so called "representative" government of the people allow an endemic cancer to eat away at the wealth an liberty of its its citizens. A wealth and sacred honour that those government servants, duly appointed and elected have sworn to protect. Several of these same government servant persons have failed in total to perform their task and duty. In fact, it is way beyond mere negligence on their part, (which is grounds for prosecution in itself).... It is becoming evident that some of these failures have in fact have been carried out as a direct result of duplicitous behaviour and acts involving payoffs and bribes,,,a perfidious odor surronds it, a smell very much like treason by goverment servants.

      Given the evidence as detailed below, it is utter foolishness to think that this is an isolated incident or behaviour? I maintain my position that the corruption is rampant and that these organized entities involved need be dissassembled. The parties involved need be punished with hard jail time. Treason of course remains a capitol crime in America as always. No exceptions, any Judge caught in an act of leniancy need be tried for treason as well.

      This solution as detailed above is the only way to fight organized crime, anything less is a direct aiding and abbetting of the enemy, ie: treason ! Of course we must always keep in mind the type of persons that stood for freedom in Americas history. Those persons that signed The Declaration of Independence had a certain knowledge that they would lose wealth and property and perhaps life as a result of their signing.Theirs was a noble cause, to sacrifice themselves that others might be blessed. As we know most of them did suffer these losses or combinations thereof. Nevertheless they signed because they believed that their progeny would carry the torch of self governed liberty.

      Would the signers stand by and watch The Constitution be used as a door mat to a room used for secret meetings. Meetings, chaired by banksters, the subject matter to do with control and manipulations of power and value of their nations currency. Meetings involving out and out thievery of the public trust and treasury?

      Are we worthy to call ourselves Americans in light of our complacency?

      What price Liberty?

      When do we stand for Freedom and Liberty, Now ,,,or never?

      Refer to your copy of The Declaration of Independence. Getting back to the foundation is best when rebuilding, or does history tell us of some other way??."

      Tokyo, March 10 (Bloomberg) -- The dollar may fall for a fourth week in five as the rising threat of war with Iraq, a slumping economy and widening current account deficit dim the allure of U.S. assets, a Bloomberg News survey showed.

      Of 33 analysts, traders and investors surveyed Friday, 79 percent recommended buying euros against the dollar this week, even with Europe`s common currency near a four-year high. Last week, 30 percent recommended such a move.

      ...the dollar may weaken to $1.12 per euro this week.

      ...``The dollar is in dire trouble,`` said Steve Pearson, chief currency strategist at HBOS Plc. ``There`s nothing on the horizon to turn that around`` unless Hussein goes into exile and war is averted.

      ...Higher interest rates are also luring money to Europe. Even after the European Central Bank lowered its key borrowing rate to 2.5 percent last week, it is still 1.25 percentage points above the Federal Reserve`s target interest rate. This difference in rates will keep the euro attractive once war breaks out, some analysts said.

      DENVER -- The World Gold Council, which helped launch trading in shares backed by gold bullion in Australia last month, is now exploring the possibility of trading in similar gold-backed shares in the U.S. and possibly in South Africa.
      Chris Thompson, chairman of the council and of South African gold producer Gold Fields Ltd. , wouldn`t discuss the proposal or what entity is involved, but he said that the idea is "under review" by the Securities and Exchange Commission (News - Websites).

      Trading of gold-backed shares in additional countries could broaden the group of investors interested in gold, raise demand and help the gold price, observers said. The bullion-based shares are designed to make it easier to invest in gold, which may be especially appealing to those who see gold as a portfolio risk- stabilizer...... I`m absolutely certain that there will be at least a billion dollars in this thing within 12 months of the listing," Mr. Tuckwell said. That compares with $3 million to $4 million in the trust today, he said.

If this basic obstacle could be overcome, however, a return to gold money would become a realistic possibility......

      MONTREAL, CANADA, May 29, 2003 (CCNMatthews via COMTEX) -- Birim Goldfields
      Inc. ("Birim") (BGI:TSX) is pleased to report that it has commenced a
      5,000-metre reverse circulation ("RC") drilling programme targeting several
      advanced-stage gold prospects on its Dunkwa concession and Bui District
      properties in Ghana. Birim recently entered into an agreement to sell its
      interests in the Dunkwa concession to Golden Star Resources Ltd. ("Golden Star")
      for cash and royalty considerations (see the April 16, 2003 press release for
      further details), however, in order to facilitate the timely exploration of the
      advanced Mansiso gold target, located within the Dunkwa concession, Birim has
      already completed the RC drill program, the costs of which will be reimbursed by
      Golden Star upon formal closing of the agreement.

      The drill programme consisted of a series of twelve RC holes testing the lateral
      and depth extensions of the Mansiso gold prospect. Mansiso has recently been the
      focus of small-scale informal mining activities and recent grab samples
      collected by Birim have returned assays up to 88 grams per tonne gold from
      highly altered graphitic meta-sediments similar to those hosting the major
      producing gold deposits occurring along the Ashanti Structural Break. The
      results from the drill programme are anticipated within two weeks.

      The RC drill is currently being mobilised onto the Bui District properties. The
      first of a series of prospects to be drilled will be Brohani, where soil
      sampling has delimited a ten-kilometre long gold-in-soil anomaly, as defined by
      the 0.5 gram per tonne gold contour, underlain by Tarkwaian conglomerates. The
      southern portion of the Brohani anomaly yielded gold values up to 2.5 grams per
      tonne in soils and it is this sector that will initially be drilled by way of
      thirty 50-metre holes drilled at 30-metre intervals along five lines 100 metres
      apart, for a total of 1,500 metres.

      "With our strong balance sheet and potential flow of continuing royalty revenues
      from the Dunkwa property, we are well positioned to explore our substantial
      portfolio of gold prospects that we have identified within our Bui District
      properties," said Mr. Denis Simoneau, President or Birim. "We are very excited
      about our prospects and assure our shareholders that we will be aggressive in
      our drilling activity, this programme being the first phase in a series of
      drilling campaigns."

      NEW YORK, Jul 09, 2003 (PRIMEZONE via COMTEX) -- When Bradford took his post in 1999, Golden Star Resources Ltd. (AMEX:GSS) had no gold production at all. Since then, the company`s gold production surged to an estimated 140,000 ounces in 2003, he told www.wallst.net.
      First quarter earnings for 2003 yielded an estimated 40,000 ounces of gold, which is "right on track," with Bradford`s estimation of another 100,000 ounces by fiscal year`s end. "All of our projections come from current assets through organic growth," he said, adding that "as gold production increases, investors can expect earnings to increase at the same time," assuming that "everything else stays constant."
      Currently, Golden Star Resources Ltd., is "On the lookout for ways to grow the company," he said, referring to the acquisition of a second mining property in Ghana, 35 km away from their current project in the Bogoso/Prestea open pit mine. Bradford projected the completion of feasibility studies for the company`s second mine in Ghana in mid-2003, and the completion of the mine is slated for the first-quarter of 2004. The Government of Ghana is a 10 per cent partner of Golden Star who "owns the other 90 percent outright," Bradford said.
      Bradford estimated a rapid annual increase in gold production within the next several years, predicting a 92 percent increase in production at the end of 2004, and gold production reaching 250,000 ounces by 2005. "That gives us one of the better growth profiles in the gold mining industry," he said, adding that the goal of the company is to secure itself as a "Mid-tier gold producer group within the next two or three years."
      He concluded the interview by stating the company had "Good cash flow," minimal debt (less than $3 million), and nearly $40 in treasury cash reserves.       Gold will rally. This would represent a breakout of the ascending triangle pattern in the HUI and XAU. This is move you really want to catch. The fuel for this move would be the new money coming into gold from the topped-out bond and equities markets.

      Congressman Sanders` Questioning of Federal Reserve Chairman Greenspan

      The following is the transcript of Rep. Sanders` question-and-answer period with Federal Reserve Chairman Alan Greenspan during Tuesday`s Financial Services hearing.

      SANDERS: Thank you, Madam Chair.

      And, Mr. Greenspan, nice to see you again.

      Mr. Greenspan, I have long been concerned that you are way out of touch with the needs of the middle class and working families of our country, that you see your major function in your position as the need to represent the wealthy and large corporations.

      And I must tell you that your testimony today only confirms all of my suspicions, and I urge you -- and I mean this seriously, because you`re an honest person, I think you just don`t know what`s going on in the real world -- and I would urge you come with me to Vermont, meet real people. The country club and the cocktail parties are not real America. The millionaires and billionaires are the exception to the rule.

      You talk about an improving economy while we have lost 3 million private sector jobs in the last two years, long-term unemployment is more than tripled, unemployment is higher than it`s been since 1994.

      We have a $4 trillion national debt, 1.4 million Americans have lost their health insurance, millions of seniors can`t afford prescription drugs, middle-class families can`t send their kids to college because they don`t have the money to do that, bankruptcy cases have increased by a record-breaking 23 percent, business investment is at its lowest level in more than 50 years, CEOs make more than 500 times of what their workers make, the middle class is shrinking, we have the greatest gap between the rich and the poor of any industrialized nation, and this is an economy that is improving.

      I`d hate to see what would happen if our economy was sinking.

      Now, today you may not have known this -- I suspect that you don`t -- but you have insulted tens of millions of American workers.

      You have defended over the years, among other things, the abolition of the minimum wage -- one of your policies -- and giving huge tax breaks to billionaires.
      But today you have reached a new low, I think, by suggesting that manufacturing in America doesn`t matter. It doesn`t matter where the product is produced. We`ve lost 2 million manufacturing jobs in the last two years alone; 10 percent of our work force. Wal-Mart has replaced General Motors as the major employer in America, paying people starvation wages rather than living wages, and all of that does not matter to you -- doesn`t matter.

      If it`s produced in China where workers are making 30 cents an hour, or produced in Vermont where workers can make 20 bucks an hour, it doesn`t matter. You have told the American people that you support a trade policy which is selling them out, only working for the CEOs who can take our plants to China, Mexico and India.

      You insulted Mr. Castle. Mr. Castle, a few moments ago -- a good Republican -- told you that we`re seeing not only the decline of manufacturing jobs, but white-collar information technology jobs.

      Forrester Research says that over the next 15 years, 3.3 million U.S. service industry jobs and $136 billion in wages will move offshore to India, Russia, China and the Philippines.

      Does any of this matter to you? Do you give one wit of concern for the middle class and working families of this country? That`s my question.

      GREENSPAN: Congressman, we have the highest standard of living in the world.

      SANDERS: No, we do not. You go to Scandinavia, and you will find that people have a much higher standard of living, in terms of education, health care and decent paying jobs. Wrong, Mister.

      GREENSPAN: May I answer your question?

      SANDERS: You sure may.

      GREENSPAN: Thank you.

      For a major industrial country, we have created the most advanced technologies, the highest standard of living for a country of our size. Our economic growth is crucial to us. The incomes, the purchasing power of our employees, our workers, our people are, by far, more important than what it is we produce.

      I submit to you -- may I?

      SANDERS: (inaudible)

      GREENSPAN: The major focus of monetary policy is to create an environment in this country which enables capital investment and innovation to advance. We are at the cutting edge of technologies in the world. We are doing an extraordinary job over the years.

      And people flock to the United States. Our immigration rates are very high. And why? Because they think this is a wonderful country to come to.

      SANDERS: That is an incredible answer.

Shouldn`t plunging economic activity result in a sharp decline in prices as demand declines? Why in such an environment do you expect prices to rise?

      BATRA: Normally we should have a deflationary depression. In fact in all of U.S. history, we have never had an inflationary depression. But I think the future one will be an exception and there are two or three reasons why I think so. First of all let`s look at all the economies that have borrowed heavily from abroad and are now in turmoil, like the Asian Tigers and Brazil or Russia. When the trouble started, their currencies collapsed, and not only their stock prices fell, but their product prices and unemployment both went up. So they have an inflationary recession right now. The reason they have not had a depression is because the U.S. economy has remained strong, so they have been able to export and keep their economies going. But it is inflationary in nature, which is the exception to what used to happen in the past. The reason why it is inflationary is that their currencies have collapsed. And that is what I fear for the U.S. dollar as well. I fear the U.S. dollar will fall very sharply once the nightmare hits the U.S. "

      Q: I have a question regarding recent actions on the US bond market and their impact on US stock markets and gold. You mentioned in your editorial that the reverse course of bond prices should be positive for gold. Hence, why is the price of gold not reacting? Reflation of an economy means some inflation -- a mantra for gold. Is it just a technical reaction of the bond market from an oversold position?

      You also mentioned in your editorial possibly catastrophic effects from a rising bond market on derivatives. How much would the yield have to rise to cause such an effect?

      A: Owning gold is something like being long a controlled substance at the annual convention of the DEA. Life is perspective, and you can be sure that the derivative trading desk big shots at JP Morgan, Chase et al feel the same way about us as we feel about them.

      To the talking heads, our success is their worst nightmare. We are the smallest investment group in the world of markets. We have become much smaller in the past 23 years. We also have more senior citizens than any other investment group. You could cut our ranks in half by the simply opening a window in the winter time. Yet, you are the finest of men and women- almost too fine to be in this seedy world of capitalism.

      At the same time, there is a major contradiction. The shareholders of gold companies are Top Gun people but the management of most gold companies consistently fails to place in any conventional measure.

      Newmont Mines (NEM) likewise has formed a multi-year head and shoulders pattern and broke above its neckline at US $33/share on more than one occasion, trading as high as US $34/share. Like the rest of the gold index, it suffered a decline during the middle of the week but held support and then came back to close out the week at US $32.13/share. The same can be said for Royal Gold (RGLD) and Golden Star (GSS). These are all good companies and they will perform well as gold works its way up the price ladder. Patience is all that`s required.

      In conclusion, everyone wants to know what they can expect from stock prices if physical gold hits my price target of US $418/ounce? Given this top, I project NEM at +/- US $38.00, RGLD at US +/- $25.00, and GSS at US +/- $3.85 per share. But what I am really looking for is an improvement in the balance sheet which will be reflected in the dividends declared. Dividends are something that almost no one thinks about and even fewer analysts talk about. They are a sign of true value. If these companies continue to show improvement in terms of their balance sheets, you just might see a ten percent dividend from one or more of these entities by the end of next year.3 In a world of negative real interest rates and deflation coming down the track like a run-away train, a 10% dividend would be a welcome sight.
