      xanda1,
muss ich dir zustimmen. Läuft aber immer sehr gut bei positivem Markt. Jetzt ein wenig gegen den Strom. Die letzte News vom Einsatz des Seidenwurms hat dazu beigetragen.

Leading German IT Service Provider for Financial Services Industry Standardizes on Brocade SilkWorm 12000 as Intelligent Platform For Networking Storage Brocade SAN Helps IZB Informatik Zentrum Reduce Total Cost of Ownership, Improve Application Perf

      SAN JOSE, Calif. and GENEVA, Jul 16, 2002 /PRNewswire-FirstCall via COMTEX/ --
-- Brocade Communications Systems, Inc. (Brocade(R)) (Nasdaq: BRCD), the world`s
leading provider of infrastructure solutions for Storage Area Networks (SANs),
announced today that IZB Informatik Zentrum has chosen Brocade SilkWorm(R) 12000
Core Fabric Switches as the highly available networking foundation for its
storage environment. IZB Informatik Zentrum is the IT and communications service
provider for Sparkassen Finanzgruppe, a German banking consortium, comprising
more than 700 financial institutions and savings banks in Germany. In order to
address massive data growth, high data transfer volumes, and the need to
significantly reduce storage management costs, IZB deployed a Brocade SAN at its
Munich site. By networking servers and storage through a Brocade SAN, IZB gained
increased manageability and security, high availability, and improved
application performance to support more than 4 Terabytes (TB) of business
critical data and enable a flexible, scalable environment to support future data
      growth.

Because IZB experienced a rapid increase in the amount of data in its enterprise
applications, including Open Systems, Microsoft Exchange, SAP, and Oracle
systems, the company enhanced its existing SAN environment with two 2 Gigabit
per Second (Gbit/sec) SilkWorm 12000 Core Fabric Switches, in a fully redundant,
dual-path design allowing no single point of failure for continuous access to
business critical data. Additional requirements included simplified
manageability, enhanced security, and high port density. The SilkWorm 12000s
were implemented in less than two days without disruption to IZB`s mission
critical business and seamlessly integrated in IZB`s existing 1 Gbit/sec SAN
environment. Today, the IZB SAN connects 4 TB of storage on two HP SureStore
XP512 E Disk Arrays and two Magstar 3590 E1XFC tape libraries to fourteen
servers. By the start of 2003, IZB expects to be able to process a data volume
of up to 10 TB on forty servers.

"We selected the SilkWorm 12000 as the intelligent networking platform for our
storage environment because of Brocade`s position as a market leader and the
high reliability of its products. By selecting Brocade, we were assured seamless
integration into our existing 1 Gbit/sec infrastructure, and simplified
management of the entire SAN environment," says Ludwig Muller, Head of
Applications Services at the IZB. "Both SilkWorm 12000s were quickly and easily
deployed with no downtime to our applications. The solution is demonstrating a
high degree of reliability and manageability. Additionally, the high degree of
scalability guarantees that IZB will be able to accommodate future storage
demands as our data continues to grow at a rapid rate."

"We are pleased that IZB has chosen to base its storage network on Brocade,
implementing the SilkWorm 12000 as the core of its SAN," said Jean-Marie
Mathiot, Brocade Vice President, Europe, Africa, and Middle East (EMEA). "The
SilkWorm 12000 enables customers to securely scale storage more effectively,
assure continuous data availability, and reduce the overall cost of storage
      management."
