Preiswettbewerb bleibt dauerhaftes Thema
ADVA erwartet starkes Wachstum

ADVA OPTICAL NETWORKING RECEIVES BROCADE FABRIC AWARE STATUS FOR END-TO-END STORAGE NETWORKING INTEROPERABILITY
ADVA`s FSP 2000 and FSP 3000 systems demonstrate interoperability in heterogeneous Brocade-based storage area network environments
Martinsried/Munich, Germany; Mahwah/New Jersey, USA. November 8, 2004. ADVA Optical Networking announced today that its FSP 2000 and FSP 3000 systems have been verified by Brocade as interoperable with Brocade-based Storage Area Networking (SAN) infrastructure, according to the testing requirements of the Brocade Fabric Aware Program, an end-to-end interoperability initiative for SANs. The program is a comprehensive testing and configuration initiative designed to foster SAN interoperability in multi-vendor Brocade-based SAN environments.
Testing was conducted at the Brocade interoperability labs, which are state-of-the-art facilities supporting end-to-end interoperability and performance testing of SAN products in multi-vendor and large fabric SAN environments. The Brocade Fabric Aware Program has added more than fifity members since its launch in 2000. In addition, as part of its investment in SAN interoperability, Brocade actively supports its members` interoperability initiatives.
"ADVA and Brocade have been partnering since 2002 to guarantee our joint customers the highest level of assurance and technical support. This latest qualification of our FSP 2000 and FSP 3000 systems with Brocade`s SAN infrastructure products - including the SilkWorm 24000 Director, SilkWorm Multiprotocol Router, SilkWorm 3900/3850/3800/3250/3200 - is a further step to provide seamless interoperability for enterprises," stated Brian P. McCann, Chief Marketing and Strategy Officer at ADVA. "As enterprise interest in disaster-recovery strategies has intensified in the last three years, storage area networks are being deployed in greater numbers and continually scaled in size and scope."
"We are pleased that ADVA has successfully completed the Fabric Aware testing with Brocade fabric switches in multi-vendor SAN environments," said Jay Kidd, Brocade CTO, Infrastructure Systems Group. "Storage area networks are being deployed worldwide at a rapid rate as a scalable, high performance networking foundation for storage environments. The Fabric Aware program is an example of our continued commitment to delivering end-to-end interoperability to SAN customers."
ADVA`s Fiber Service Platform is a portfolio of optical networking products designed specifically for the delivery of high-speed services and network infrastructure in the metropolitan area. anbei das Bewertungsmodel der Citigroup.
Valuation
We value ADVA on both an absolute basis with the help of DCF as well as on a multiples comparison to its peers.
We find
➤ Based on, in our view, conservative assumptions, our DCF model shows substantial upside to c€10.
➤ On average, ADVA trades at a discount of 35%-40% to its peers on EV/Sales, 20%-30% on EV/EBITDA
multiples, a discount of 20-35% on EV/EBIT multiples, and a discount of 45-55% on PE for 2004-2006.
We believe ADVA should not trade at any significant discount to our US peer group and therefore set our price target
at €6.0 implying a c20% upside to the current share price. As implied by our DCF valuation, we see substantial
upside to this target should the US technology sector recover.

ADVA OPTICAL NETWORKING STRENGTHENS POSITION IN SOUTHERN EUROPE AND AFRICA WITH OPENING OF OFFICE IN ROME, ITALY
Martinsried/Munich, Germany; Mahwah/New Jersey, USA. November 3, 2004. ADVA Optical Networking today announced the opening of an office in Rome, Italy, to serve as a base of ADVA`s business development, sales, and service activities in southern Europe and Africa. ADVA is the leading provider of metro optical networking solutions in Europe and has had a sales team presence in southern Europe since 2000. Fastweb, Telecom Italia, and Telefonica are among ADVA`s carrier customers in the region together with dozens of enterprises in the banking and insurance sectors as well as large conglomerates.
The company partners with leading telecommunications and storage distribution channels like Siemens and CNT and has penetrated Italy, Portugal, Spain, and South Africa. In Italy and Portugal, for example, major carriers have successfully deployed ADVA`s Wavelength Division Multiplexing (WDM) infrastructure solutions for relieving fiber exhaust and enabling "carrier`s carrier" wholesale services. Spain has proven to be a particularly strong market for ADVA`s systems for reliably supporting high-bandwidth enterprise Storage Area Networking (SAN) solutions.
"We see tremendous growth opportunities throughout the region, thanks largely to our established customer and partner relationships and the unmatched flexibility of our Fiber Service Platform product portfolio," said Marcello Forti, Director Sales for Southern Europe, Africa, and Latin America with ADVA. "Enterprises throughout Southern Europe and Africa are keenly interested in the storage and Ethernet access services that our solutions cost-effectively enable. Carriers are seeking ways to tap new revenues from their metro and regional infrastructures and particularly embracing new triple play and video services. The opening of the Rome office gives us a stronger local presence and ability to better serve and support our customers and partners."
