NewMedia Spark Sued by Broker Claiming 3.86 Mln-Euro Commission

London, Nov. 21 (Bloomberg) -- NewMedia Spark Plc is being sued for 3.86 million euros ($3.87 million) by a stockbroker who says the Internet investor didn`t pay him for work last year. Robert Goodman, a private broker, didn`t get a commission after helping convince shareholders of Spuetz AG to sell their stock to NewMedia as it tried to take over the German brokerage, according to Goodman`s claim form.

Goodman wants 20 percent of the 18.9 million-euro
transactions as commission and is also seeking a fee for handling the purchase of other Spuetz stock worth 1.72 million euros, according to documents filed in Germany and served by the Central London County Court on Nov. 19.
``Our German lawyers are looking into the issue and will respond accordingly,`` said NewMedia director Joel Plasco.

NewMedia suffered as the value of Internet investments
plummeted in 2000. The company more than doubled its net loss to 104.2 million pounds ($165 million) for the year ended March 31.

As part of the Spuetz takeover in September 2001, Goodman arranged for NewMedia to buy the 20.6 percent stake held by Van der Moolen Holding NV, a Dutch securities firm, the claim said.

      It`s ``indisputable`` that a ``commercial brokerage
agreement`` was struck between Goodman and NewMedia, according to the court documents.

NewMedia shares, first sold in October 1999, have lost 29 percent this year and traded at 8 pence at 10:15 a.m. in London.

Goodman is represented by Ingo Flore of Westfalen Revision GmbH, a German law firm.
