      Mujahideen continue attacks on invaders

Press Service of the Military Council (of State Defense Council «Majlis al-Shura») reported about new combat operations conducted by Chechen units against the terrorist formations of Russian invaders. According to the Chechen side, mobile compounds of the Mujahideen attacked the enemy’s positions in Dzhokhar, Argun, Vedeno, Nozhai-Yurt and Shatoi Districts of the country. Thus, in Dzhokhar over the past 24 hours diversionary units of Chechen fighters carried out two blasts and five shootings at checkpoints and commandants’ offices. In StaroPromyslovsky District of the capital another BMP armored vehicle was blown up on a landmine near the buildings of the ElektroPribor Electrical Instrument Plant. Another armored vehicle was blown up in Oktyabrsky District of the city on Saikhanov Street. In both cases there were losses incurred by the invaders.

A UAZ jeep with four invaders on board was blown up in Argun. In Nozhai-Yurt District near the village of Sayasan a mobile compound of Chechen fighters attacked a unit of the enemy’s special forces by firing at it from automatic weapons and machine guns. As a result of a half-hour-long shooting, four aggressors were killed.

A BTR armored vehicle was blown up near Elistanzhi. Another unit was blown up on the road between Tovzeni and Agishty. It has also been reported about three BMP armored vehicles being fired at on the road between Zhanni-Vedeno and Vedeno. Press Service of President of Chechen Republic of Ichkeria reported referring to the Commander of President`s Guard that Sunday morning assault detachments of Chechen Armed Forces entered the village of Yalhoi-Mohk (Kurchaloi District). Chechen units entered the village from two directions, i.e. after splitting in two separate groups.

First combat clash occurred near the entrance to the village, where the enemy`s checkpoint was located. The enemy`s resistance was neutralized by a resolute attack and massive fire; the checkpoint was completely destroyed. Only in that episode of the battle alone the enemy lost 6 soldiers killed and a UAZ jeep («The Pill») was destroyed.

Fire from grenade launchers was opened at a Ural cargo vehicle with invaders on board, which started moving to assist the «checkpoint». Three enemy soldiers were killed on the spot. At the same time the second group took up positions around the enemy`s commandant`s office and opened aimed fire at the enemy. When the second group came, more massive fire at the commandant`s office started. While advancing towards the commandant`s office, the second group destroyed a UAZ jeep with Russian police officers on board. 6 invaders were killed on the spot. Combats in Yakhoi-Mohk were continuing throughout the whole day. It is known for sure that 15 invaders were killed. Four Chechen fighters were wounded.

      Version of the invaders` command

The invaders` command of Russian formations stated that only three national traitors from the gang of the famous kidnapper and drug trafficker Yamadayev were killed in the combat near Dyshne-Vedeno. According to the Russian version, the Yamadayevans were ambushed and lost only three of their militants. Chechen side refuted these statements by saying once again that Yamadayev`s group was defeated and national traitors lost at least 30 of their militants. Resident of Dyshne-Vedeno confirmed that information. They were observing how corpses of Yamadayevans were delivered to the Vedeno Commandant`s Office on armored vehicles and trucks, and from there they were transported to various villages.

War in Caucasus with the eyes of the West

A number of secret services of Western countries, Germany for instance, published their observations regarding the Russian-Chechen war. On the background of false information from pro-Kremlin mass media and complete aloofness of Western mass media, this information sheds some light on the true state of affairs in Chechnya.

In the opinion of German intelligence officers, any victory over Chechens is out of the question, even though Russian authorities announced the end of the second Russian-Chechen war back in the spring 2000. At the same time the reasons why Russian troops were unsuccessful were thoroughly analyzed. The dossier says that the martial law is much harsher then what they think in Moscow. Even though about 200,000 Russian soldiers oppose a little over 2,000 armed rebels, the latter manage to maintain resistance and conduct offensive operations. German experts say that low military morals, support of rebels by the local population and a complete bureaucratic mess are the main reasons why Russian armed forces are unsuccessful. Great numbers of losses in the so-called friendly fire from

their own troops are the result of that mess.

As the authors of the dossier assume, the new phase of the war may start in the beginning of the year 2003, when combats in Chechnya will acquire a fiercer nature with the high number of losses, just as before. The political achievement to end the conflict is an illusion, as German experts believe. The genocide policies, conducted by Putin’s government, impel Chechen people to total and uncompromising resistance.

The dossier’s authors believe that the official figures of the losses were considerably understated. Thus, the number of Russian servicemen killed, which was officially estimated at 4,500, is really 10,000 according to the calculations made by the German side (According to the Chechen side the number is ranging from 30 to 35 thousand – Kavkaz Center editorial staff). The dossier also cast doubt on official figures of the losses of the Chechen side, which according to the experts were understated five and a half times: according to the dossier, it was not 14, but 80 thousand Chechen peaceful civilians who died during the present war. I.e. peaceful population is being exterminated: children, women and the elderly, concerning which international human rights organization «Society of Defense of Nations under Threat of Extermination» (Gesselschaft fur bedrohte Volker) called on German Minister of Internal Affairs and in the heads of political offices of federal landtags (provinces) not to deport Chechen refugees to Russia from Germany.

In its statement the human rights organization (Gesselschaft fur bedrohte Volker), headquartered in the German city of Goettingen, points out that Russia is not a «reliable refuge». There Russian secret services put pressure on Chechen refugees. The refugees are deprived of humanitarian aid and thus the authorities force them to return to Chechnya, where fierce combats have resumed recently. «Civilians become victims of crimes every day, their lives depend on the tyranny of Russian servicemen», – Sarah Reinke from human rights organization on Eastern European affairs said.

The Society estimated the number of Chechen refugees in Germany to be several thousand. Those are the ones who «survived the genocide» that started back in 1994 and is still going on to this day. According to the Society, at the present moment the number of peaceful civilians who died from the hands of Russian invaders reached 160 thousand.

However the West has reduced its hypocritical in many aspects criticism towards Moscow. In this regard human rights activist Elena Bonner (A. Sakharov’s wife) has accused Western mass media of being dangerously one-sided.

In Russia, as well as in the West they once in a while draw a parallel between the actions of Russian troops in Chechnya and Israeli troops on occupied Palestinian territories. Elena Bonner believes that such a comparison is not appropriate:

      - «I think that the comparison with Chechnya stands no criticism… Nowhere else in the world, except in Bosnia at one time, will you find secret burial sites, nowhere else such a number of people ever disappeared. During the first war over a thousand and a half people disappeared during so-called cleansings. They were taken away, and nobody knows where they are now. Those were not rebels, those were peaceful civilians, mainly old men and 10-12 year-old boys. It is still continuing during the second war. Now we just don’t know how many people disappeared during cleansings, - peaceful civilians. All villages, all towns were «cleansed» dozens of times. Everything there was plundered, - it went as far as ripping earrings from women’s ears; and they take people away – no one knows where, and people just disappear. And then secret burial sites are discovered; but the corpses are burned so that they don’t get identified. Nothing even close to a war on terrorism is conducted in Chechnya. They captured Raduyev by accident, that’s right, by accident; and on the whole, the army is pillaging and getting demoralized», – as Russian human rights activist says (Radio Deutsche Welle).

«In reality the situation in Chechnya is terrible. And the West is to a considerable extent responsible for it. Because this is what happened due to the tricks of our diplomats and politicians: the style of communication between Western critics and Russian «official peacemakers» has been discovered, people like Dmitry Rogozin. Both of them say: «Yes, unfortunately obvious violations of human rights are taking place on the Chechen territory, sometimes the violations even have a mass scale, although it is no humanitarian catastrophe», – Sergei Kovalev says. – «And then again they say with such touching unanimity: ‘But look at what progress has been gradually achieved! Look, courts are now operating in Chechnya. Look, this many hundreds of criminal charges were filed against federal servicemen. And the situation that the refugees are in is improving day after day!’ And this is a very comfortable position for both sides».

Seeing such a double-standard policy of the West, Russia is seizing the moment and without remorse offering its creditors to write off Russia’s multi-billion foreign debts towards the fight against «international terrorism».

Meanwhile, according to International Helsinki Federation of Human Rights, Russian servicemen kill 50 to 80 Chechen men every month. According to Aaron Rhodes, the Federation’s Executive Director, the situation has become even more aggravated over the past few months. Here is what Sergei Kovalev says in this regard: «I think that the Kremlin will cynically agree that it will not be any other way. Other executors of what Kremlin wants in Chechnya, - violence, brutalities, - you just can’t find anybody else to do that. Here you need real executioners and torturers! Number two: I think that the Putin Administration, and Putin himself, know full well that they are at a deadlock in Northern Caucasus… But Putin, to a certain extent, is in the captivity of power structures. He has no other reliable support. And those guys need the war in Chechnya – they gain from it for the simple fact that they get promotions, they get higher ranks, and only in Chechnya servicemen really get paid, instead of getting that miserable allowance that they still get here. And finally, they benefit from it because there is something to live off of. Nobody has the power to, and that’s why nobody is trying to stop pillages down there. Hundreds of criminal charges filed is a myth that has no significance whatsoever…

In the opinion of political analyst Klaus Segbers, professor of the Institute of Eastern Europe at the University of Berlin, not all the cards are laid out in the mutual relations between Russia and the Western countries. On the one hand, Western governments, European Parliament, OSCE, as well as human rights organizations and mass media never get tired to criticize unjustified mass violence committed by the Russian army against peaceful population. On the other hand, after the September 11 attacks on New York City and Washington Russia to a certain extent managed to integrate its own conflict with the Chechens into the context of the global «war on terrorism». Ever since then that subject was put on the back burner, even though it might be brought up once in a while during negotiations between Western and Russian politicians.

We would like to conclude our review with the quote from Latvian newspaper «Neatkariga Rita Avize», which in our opinion characterizes the main reason of what’s going on in Putin’s Russia today most comprehensively: «Unfortunately, in Russia Communism is alive not only in people’s minds; it is also manifested in all sorts of violence: from tortures of prisoners to the war in Chechnya. It lives in the tolerance towards the relics of the Soviet past, which is so insulting for the victims of repressions, towards Stalin’s anthem, towards the restoration of the monument to «Iron Felix (Dzerzhinsky)» in Moscow and to other sorts of recidivism… The state, from whose emblem one head of the double-headed eagle is looking towards the Soviet past, is dangerous for you and for others».

You can’t be more accurate in saying this.

Fierce clash in the region of Duba-Yurt village

Internal subcommittee of the information committee of Madzhlisul Shura in CRI late in the evening on Thursday published information about the large-scale armed clash between Chechen soldiers and Russian occupational grouping, which occurred at approximately 14:00 clock local time on Wednesday. According to Chechen side, a group of Russian commandos (paratroopers) attacked one of the operational foothill bases of Chechen troops, located at several kilometers south of the village of Duba-Yourt. However, in the first moments of the battle died two of the five Arab volunteers, who were members of the Chechen mobile group. Paratroopers reached very close to the base of mujahideen. However, Chechen soldiers resisted the enemy in the fierce contact battle, which continued more than four hours.

Warding off the attack of aggressors, this time Chechen mujahideen attacked the enemy, skillfully using their position on one of the dominating height in the region of base. According to Chechen side, after two hours of the battle, the Russians asked for more aid, after firing several signal flares. Approximately after 40 minutes, additional reserves of the enemy with the support of combat helicopters Mi-24 began to advance to the battle zone. The battle continued approximately for another one hour. After this, basic forces of Chechen mujahideen, after leaving some resisting groups at the dominating heights, went away into the depth of the wooded part of the mountain zone towards their primary bases. Russians forewent the pursuit of mujahideen. Chechen side officially reported that, mujahideen lost four soldiers killed as a result of battle in Duba-Yourt. Three Arab volunteers and one Chechen mujahid - commander of the group of reconnaissance (call-name Dabbab). Several soldiers obtained injuries. At the same time, on the assertion of participants in the battle, up to 30 commandos were killed from the Russian side. This information was transmitted on the radio communication directly to the management of the internal subcommittee of information committee of Madzhlisul Shura in CRI on Thursday afternoon. Indirect confirmation of Chechen information was obtained by journalists of Gosteleradio (State Committee of the Council of Ministers of the USSR on Television and Radio Broadcasting) in CRI, who visited the settlement of Duba-Yourt on Thursday. According to journalists, while referring to the local residents, tens of witnesses, who were present near the checkpoint in Duba-Yourt on Wednesday saw that Russian helicopters landed in the field in hundred meters from the checkpoint, where the injured and killed invaders were brought on BTRs. In this case, the witnesses informed about a number of killed soldiers of the enemy. However in all probability numerous witnesses tell that there were a number of injured soldiers, whom they loaded into the helicopters together with those killed invaders. The situation in the settlement of Duba-Yourt as a whole is calm, according to the evidence of Chechen journalists. No retaliatory actions by invaders against local residents have not been taken after the incidence. However, many local residents already left the village due to fear of retaliatory raids by invaders, who sustained significant losses. The Russian side gave no detailed information about the battle, except the report that six mujahideen were killed, who allegedly were found in the outskirts of Duba-Yourt village.

Official Russian figures about Russian invaders killed in Chechnya have been released. Starting October 1, 1999 until December 2002 4,572 servicemen were killed in Chechnya, as the Russian side claims. 15,549 were wounded. This information was presented by Russia`s Ministry of Defense. Official Russian figures do not include losses incurred during combats in Dagestan. Thus, Moscow admits that the invaders have lost over 20,000 in the battles with Chechen fighters.

It is interesting that ITAR-TASS news agency reported 4,500 soldiers killed in the year 2002 alone, which was considered to be pretty peaceful. Russian Defense Ministry has officially denied these figures and announced its own figures of losses incurred.

At the same time the Committee of Soldiers` Mothers believes that the real losses of Russian troops are about three times higher than the official figures claim.

The Chechen side has given a critical estimate to Moscow`s admission. As member of the Military Council of State Defense Council Amir Supyan stated while commenting on Russian reports, - in reality during the battles with the formations of Russian invaders the Mujahideen have killed at least 35,000 enemy soldiers and officers and wounded from 100,000 to 200,000.

According to Amir Supyan, starting September 1, 1999 to present, Chechen troops have lost 4,500 to 5,000 Mujahideen killed and over 11,000 wounded in the battles with the invaders. Civilian losses were estimated to be 40 to 50 thousand.

At the same time, he did not exclude that invaders, after killing several local residents, declared them to be the fighters, as usually done during the punitive raids on Chechen villages.

Aslakhanov wants to hold his "session"

General of the Russian militia Aslakhanov, appointed by Kremlin as deputy of State Duma from Chechnya, stated about the preparation of new "session" of Chechen people. This statement was issued in Rostov-on-Don at the session of "round table with the participation of representatives of the so-called Chechen communities of the Rostov oblast. Aslakhanov considers that session will be possible to hold on 15 May.

Last year, "Akhmad Kadyrov, head of the occupational marionette administration of Chechnya held his own "session of Chechen people" in Gudermes. Some Russian observers consider that General Aslakhanov, thus, attempts to be designated as possible alternative of Kadyrov and will achieve this by agreement with Kremlin.

Schwere Verluste bei den russ. Marines !

Some anonymous source in the headquarters of the invaders’ command suddenly admitted about their losses in the mountains of Ichkeria. According to him, two companies of Caspian Fleet Marine Corps sustained casualties while conducting a reconnaissance raid in the vicinity of the village of Tazen-Kale, Vedeno District of Chechnya.

«Six young marines dead and ten wounded in the combat clash that continued over 24 hours on February 26-27», – the source reported to the journalists. «The marines managed to discover a base of the militants in the highlands», – the source said. As Russian intelligence claims, the Mujahideen allegedly lost 30 to 40 killed during the combat.

«A Mi-8 helicopter was damaged while backing up the operation. The militants fired at it and the crew made a forced landing», – the source from the headquarters of the invaders’ command admitted. Thus, the Russian side has actually admitted that the combat did take place and that the losses were incurred, which Kavkaz Center reported earlier. However, it already became a tradition in Russian reports to multiply Chechen losses many many times.

Press Service of the Military Council of State Defense Council «Majlis al-Shura» of Chechen Republic of Ichkeria (CRI) in turn denied the allegation about the losses of the Mujahideen by stating that Russians keep incurring considerable casualties in sporadic combats with the invaders in Vedeno District, which have been going on for the past 10 days. The losses of the Chechen troops however are minimal. According to the Command of the Mujahideen, over the past 10 days of local clashes the Mujahideen lost only four fighters.

As it was estimated by the Chechen side, the casualties of the invaders exceed 40 soldiers and officers killed and wounded. One helicopter was shot down and two units of enemy armored vehicles burned.

Tuesday night additional information came in about the combats in Vedeno District of CRI. This is the report that Kavkaz Center received via e-mail:

«We are reporting the following: on February 25, 26, 27, and 28 fierce combats with the units of Russian special forces, including marines, were going on in Vedeno District of Ichkeria. The enemy used warplanes, helicopters and paratroopers. The forces of the Mujahideen from the Eastern Front have eliminated and wounded 40 to 50 commandos (28 commandos killed, the rest wounded). Russians suffered most of the casualties on February 26, when Chechen Mujahideen ambushed the commandos that just landed. On that day Russians never managed to evacuate their killed and wounded. Our fighters attacked a unit of Special Forces numbering in 200 troops. The fire at the enemy continued all night. On the second day the aggressors evacuated their wounded and corpses. The Mujahideen managed to shoot down one of the helicopters. On February 27 Russians started firing at the positions of the Mujahideen from rocket launchers and artillery. February 28 the rest of Russian Special Forces were evacuated from the combat zone. The losses of our units were 5 Mujahideen killed and 6 wounded. On March 1, 2, and 3 Russian troops continued to bomb Vedeno District. The units of the Mujahideen from the Eastern Front are continuing to conduct special operations against the troops of Russian invaders in Vedeno District of Ichkeria».

      PUTINS ANTI-TERRORKAMPF

The Jew remained our implacable enemy and attempted everything to dissolve our Volk, so that he could rule. That`s why we must fight until he is annihilated, and we will annihilate him! We want to be free, not only from within, but also from without!
Dr. Robert Ley, June 22, 1941, public speech "

Man ersetze Jude durch Tschetschene .....:(

"Man muss sie in ihren Kellern und Höhlen ausfindig machen, wo sie sich bis heute verstecken, und sie vernichten"
