AOL Time Warner surpassed Wall Street`s third-quarter earnings estimates, but the company also disclosed that its AOL unit had overstated revenue by $190 million for the two-year period that ended last June. The company (AOL) said that it would restate the results for that period following an internal accounting review. In reporting its third-quarter results for this year, the company said it made 19 cents a share, vs 24 cents in last year`s third quarter. That`s 1 cent better than the Wall Street consensus estimate.

NEW YORK, Oct 23 (Reuters) - AOL Time Warner Inc. ,
the world`s largest media company, said on Wednesday
third-quarter earnings, before a range of costs, fell as
prolonged weakness at its America Online division offset
strength in its cable networks and cable systems businesses. The company, home to CNN, "The Sopranos," pop star Madonna
and People magazine, said its quarterly cash earnings,
excluding costs such as noncash amortization expenses, fell to
19 cents a share from 24 cents a share a year-earlier. Wall Street analysts, on average, expected the company to
post cash earnings of 19 cents a share, according to Thomson
First Call. The results were reported on a pro forma basis to reflect
the company`s restructured cable pact with publishing firm
