      Gold
      Cup with Handle
      Breaks Out to the Upside

"This is a momentous occasion and something you may not see again technically in your trading career. Not only is it rare to see this formation, but rarer even to see any formation with such symmetry. The more symmetrical a formation is, the more meaningful it is. The longer it takes to construct a rare formation like this, the more meaningful the formation is.

Now, IMO, not only is $348-$354 assured, but also that price will occur by Christmas.

A rare formation of this quality and time to construct indicates that my fundamental conclusions are correct. Those conclusions mean that we are early in a very long bull market in gold. The market is the final arbitrator and it is there that my final report card will be delivered. The drama of gold will have many acts and challenges, but it has $529 now written on it."

"Every time the ESF stuck it schnozz up, it got hammered. Two halfhearted college boy attempts at dollar support failed today. Gold looked back at the sad dollar and made a really nice close."

"As soon as the Cavalry came riding in, the gold crowd yelled, "The Blue Coats are coming! Run away! Run away!" as the Knight of Knee did in the movie "Monty Python & the Holy Grail." To scatter the gold crowd only requires that one person to hear that one branch crack, and the stampede to run away - run away is on. Then slowly, the Islamic Asian interest steps into the anonymous cash market and starts to pick up the pieces from the gold community`s exit."

"Write this down somewhere, because it is shortly going to be important to you. Translation of the paper gold market into a real gold physical bullion/paper gold bullion market is the only means of controlling the manipulation of the gold price.

Gold acted extremely well today, closing above the potential one-day head and shoulders formation that the ESF was trying to hammer out. Manipulators will paint charts for their own best interest. Did you think they would not?

Gold is headed to $338 - $343 - $348, IMO, before or slightly after Christmas."

Gold is a currency. As such it trades in competition with the dollar. Since 1996, gold and the dollar have had almost perfect negative correlation. So when you are thinking about the future price of gold, you are really talking about the future price of the dollar since we quote gold in dollars.

The dollar just broke important support at 104. I see a potential of 80 which is 23% lower than today. With gold at $333 on Friday and a potential for the dollar at 80, gold would have to go up 30% to equal the drop in the dollar. That puts gold at $433 in a sane world.

If and when we go to a more insane world, there is no limit to the upside for gold because you are really saying the dollar will assume its true value. Which is zero.

I was talking with Rick Ackerman the other day. He said gold is the easiest call he has ever made. I can only agree. The government and the Fed have set forces in action which can only destroy our currency as has happened again and again throughout history to other countries and civilizations. It will happen here, you can bank on it."

"Bill Buckler of the Australian service The Privateer, a rising force in the gold world, reproduces a spectacular multi-decade monthly semi-log gold bar chart. He comments emphatically:

"Look at the major trendline, connecting gold`s 1980 all time high with gold`s most recent 1996 high. This line has been challenged ever since gold first broke above it back in May. Now, with this rise to $US 333 on December 13, gold has broken ABOVE that eight-month `consolidation` phase. In the process, it has left behind the LAST downtrend on the chart....The final `proof` that $US gold IS in a bull market is now in hand. With that, the potential for a much faster price rise in $US terms for gold increases MASSIVELY."

And there`s a more conventional reason for gold`s glitter: an emerging consensus among economists that the U.S. dollar, is finally (finally!) breaking."

"The breakout from a five year double bottom is the one most technicians would favor I think. The first bottom was made in 1999; the second was made in 2001 by this analysis. The neckline is drawn horizontally through $340, which represents the 1999 high. If this group is right in its interpretation we should see a sharp move up to about $455.
The 1999 bear market (new) low culminated in the reversal of that four-year primary bear market leg (1996-1999). The countertrend rally (marked by the Washington Agreement buying spike) was short in duration, and its effect was to print a lower high in the primary bearish sequence that bears hoped would lead to lower lows. The following primary bear leg lasted about 14 months, but the market stopped at a higher low, and gave way to a primary bull leg that finally culminated in a higher high in the primary sequence, such that what we have in the chart now is a primary bullish sequence of higher lows (Aug 1999 and Feb 2001) and higher highs (Oct 1999 and now) spanning five years."

"So, we are now in a gold bull market against all currencies, including the US dollar. If you are reading this and not currently into gold shares, don`t worry, you haven`t missed the boat. I believe gold is going up to $2000 minimum over the next several years and this is a conservative estimate.

Richard Russell is talking about $3000 and Adam Hamilton $5000. Gold has only risen $100 so far from its bear market low, which means that if my estimate is correct, it will rise by about 16 times as far as it has already and much more still if Russell or Hamilton are proved correct. It should be obvious that should this come to pass, the gold stocks, which are highly geared to bullion, will enjoy rises of almost astronomic proportions. We are still very early in this bull market.

Strong stocks should now be accumulated on any dips - see my recommendations of the past few months."
