@bine: cream haben wirklich einige große songs hinterlassen. neben "white room" und "badge" war "sunshine of your love" immer mein lieblingssong.

@linea: eine großartige melodie die runrig da zusammengeklöppelt haben - ein echter ohrwurm.

@fixbutte: ist ja schon eine ganze menge was du da in sachen stones zusammengetragen hast - hast du schon mal daran gedacht die in einem separaten stonesthread zusammenzufassen und immer mal wieder fortzusetzen. es gibt ja einige stoneshardcorefans bei w:o, die in so einem thread sicher auch noch einiges zusteuern werden.

Ergänzende Worte zu den Stones (Teil 5)

Die frühen Stones – zu #1124 Time is on my Side und #1121 Heart of Stone von Sofakles und #643 Cry to Me von Missy

Auf den frühen Platten (1963 – 65) spielten die Stones – wie alle damaligen „Beat Bands“ – Tanzmusik (auf den deutschen Plattenlabels waren zu jedem Titel der richtige Tanz angegeben, Slow Fox, Limbo usw. ) und vor allem Coverversionen von schwarzer Musik. Die erste Single Come On vom Juni 1963 war z.B. von Chuck Berry ,
ebenso zwei Titel der ersten LP vom April 1964, die auf dem Front Cover ohne Schrift auskam und keinen Namen hatte. Andere Stücke waren z.B.von Bo Diddley, Muddy Waters, Marvin Gaye und Rufus Thomas.

Auch die zweite LP vom Januar 1965, hatte nur ein Gruppenfoto (von David Bailey) auf dem Front Cover. Sie enthält neben Songs von Chuck Berry (wieder zwei), Otis Redding, Muddy Waters, Solomon Burke und den Drifters auch
#1124 Time is on my Side, im Original von Irma Thomas , eine Soulnummer, die die Stones verlangsamten und in texanischem Akzent brachten. Das Stück wurde in den USA auch als Single herausgebracht (die englischen Alben enthielten keine Singletitel).

#643 Cry to Me war ebenfalls nachgespielt und kam in Original von Solomon Burke (1962) .
Das Stück war auf der dritten englischen LP mit dem Titel Out of Our Heads vom September 1965.
(Verwirrend ist, dass die LP mit diesem Titel, aber einem anderen Cover in den USA schon die vierte LP war, während sich das englische Cover auf der fünften US-LP December’s Children wiederfand).

Ebenso auf Out of Our Heads war #1121 Heart of Stone, das viele für die Coverversion eines unbekannten Soulsongs hielten, den die Stones aber selbst geschrieben haben. Da Sofakles hier bisher nur den Titel gepostet hat, will ich den Text mal nachtragen
