USWAR/US continues to dispatch troops to Faw

Arvand Kenar, March 22, IRNA -- The US and British choppers on
Saturday night continued to transfer military troops to the port city
of Faw.
IRNA correspondents witnessing the military moves of the bellicose
parties in the region said the city was falling in absolute darkness
at 20:50.
As a matter of fact, they said, the electricity was cut off as a
result of the heavy conflicts and fire exchange between the two sides.
Meanwhile an American fighter trying to enter the Faw airspace
faced the Iraqi anti-aircraft firing and left the area.
Witnesses said the resistance of Iraqi troops in parts of the
strategic Faw port city at Iraq`s southernmost point was followed by
man-to-man clashes between the US and Iraqi forces at the bank of
Arvand-Rud river.
The clash between fighting troops of both sides was clearly
visible from Arvand-Kenar as the heavy bombardments of Umm Qasr and
the strategic Faw port by the American and English troops continued
despite resistance by Iraqi forces.
The US and British Helicopters Air Lifting Operations over Faw,
with a population of 45,000, are said to be blocked by the resistance
of Iraqi forces and unfavorable climatic conditions.
According to informed sources stationed at Arvand-Rud river banks,
the American and English air fighters practically stopped flying over
the Faw area a few hours ago, while the sporadic overflight of their
helicopters are still underway.
The American and English troops launched new moves to the south of
Faw city with the latest report saying that the heavy clashes are
still underway along Arvand-Rud river as well as the north and south
of the city.

UK Forces Secure Key Iraq Al-Faw Oil Infrastructure - BBC

LONDON -(Dow Jones)- U.K. forces have secured key oil infrastructure on Iraq`s al-Faw peninsula, BBC television reported Thursday.
Royal Marines Colonel Gordon Messenger told the BBC his troops had taken control of manifolds used to determine the flow of oil. The BBC said this would prevent pollution of the Persian Gulf.

Messenger added that around 60 Iraqi prisoners had been taken and that there had been 10 Iraqi casualties, without giving further details.

USWAR/US deploys ship near Faw for medicare purposes

Khorramshahr, March 23, IRNA -- The US army has deployed a ship in
Khur Abdollah east of Faw peninsula for medicare of its forces injured
in war with Iraq.
Local fishermen in Khorramshahr witnessed the ship and said US
helicopters ferried the injured to it.
