NEW YORK, June 12 (Reuters) - Ek Chor China Motorcycle Co.
<EKC.N> on Thursday said shareholders approved its previously
announced plan to go private by merging into parent C.P.
Pokphand Co. Ltd. <0043.HK>.
Ek Chor is a Bermuda-based holding company which manages
joint ventures in China that make motorcycles and automotive
components and operate dealerships that sell construction and
power generation equipment.
The company said in April that it planned to become a
subsidiary of C.P. Pokphand, which already owns 68.2 percent of
Ek Chor´s stock.
Under the proposal, Ek Chor shareholders will receive $3.75
in cash for each common share. The plan still has to be
approved by the Supreme Court of Bermuda.
