Tennessee Baptist Hospital Selects Proxim’s Wi-Fi Enterprise Campus Solutions to Improve Patient Care

New technology will create first all digital hospital in the Knoxville area

SUNNYVALE, Calif., July 29, 2003 -- Proxim Corporation (Nasdaq: PROX), a global leader in wireless networking equipment for Wi-Fi and wide area networks, today announced that Baptist Hospital in Knoxville, Tennessee has implemented a facility wide rollout of Proxim’s Wi-Fi enterprise campus solutions. Baptist Hospital can now provide patients with the highest levels of care and treatment by streamlining workflow and providing health care professionals with wireless access to patient information.

“Baptist Hospital’s health care professionals have instant wireless access to admission data, radiology and laboratory results, as well as key information such as prior surgeries, allergies, and medications,” said Rick Simpson, senior system specialist, Baptist Hospital. “This has improved our productivity and allowed us to deliver better patient care.”

Baptist Hospital selected the Proxim ORiNOCO AP-2000 Access Point because it can simultaneously support two separate and secure wireless technologies – 802.11a to deliver 54 Mbps for the transmission of images such as X-rays, charts, documents and other critical patient care information and 802.11b at 11 Mbps for less bandwidth-intensive communications and maximum coverage. By using the AP-2000 with two separate wireless frequency ranges, Baptist Hospital is able to reduce infrastructure costs by maximizing the amount of wireless users on each access point.

“Thousands of hospitals, clinics and medical facilities globally are using Proxim’s Wi-Fi solutions,” said Kevin Duffy, senior vice president of Product Line Management for Proxim. “They are choosing Proxim because of our unique ability to offer enterprise-class indoor and outdoor Wi-Fi solutions that are easy to deploy, economical and provide enterprise class manageability and security. Baptist Hospital’s implementation of 802.11a and 802.11b is a perfect example of the benefit of ORiNOCO’s flexible dual slot architecture.”

Proxim Raises the Bar for Last Mile Access and High Bandwidth Metropolitan Area Networking

Proxim Tsunami MP.11a offers increased spectrum, higher data rates and non line of sight capability for global markets

SUNNYVALE, Calif., August 4, 2003 -- Proxim Corporation (Nasdaq: PROX), a global leader in wireless networking equipment for Wi-Fi and wireless wide area networking, today announced the new Proxim Tsunami MP.11a, a high performance, affordable and secure outdoor wireless solution for service providers and enterprises that offers 54 Mbps data rates in three separate 5GHz frequency bands for global deployments. It also offers non-line of site capabilities for urban environments with dense populations.

“Proxim’s Tsunami MP.11a raises the bar by offering outdoor wireless performance levels and features that are unmatched in the industry at a price that is very affordable,” said Kevin Duffy, senior vice president of R&D and Product Line Management for Proxim. “The increased spectrum and data rates offered by the Tsunami MP.11a enable applications including multi-camera security and surveillance networks, high-density metropolitan networks, data backhaul, and last mile access that can be deployed globally.”

“We see a definite need for the increased performance and range of Proxim’s Tsunami MP.11a,” said Michael Blomqvist, Sales and Marketing manager of Nowire, a distributor of wireless solutions to service providers, based in Sweden. “We have had great results with Proxim’s Tsunami MP.11 and the optimization provided by the WORP protocol. Operators running last mile and hotspot networks will get higher bandwidth as well as more capacity with the new Tsunami MP.11a products from Proxim.”

      Opens New International Markets

Proxim’s Tsunami MP.11a opens new international markets for high bandwidth point-to-point and multi-point networking. It offers 54 Mbps data rates with up to 30 Mbps effective bandwidth. Additionally, it is the first high-performance multipoint solution operating in the 5.47-5.725 GHz license-free band available for use in Europe. It provides the OFDM modulation, Transmit Power Control and Dynamic Frequency Selection features required for European deployments.

      High Performance Features

The Tsunami MP.11a enables channel bonding, to connect channels for greater range. Since it utilizes OFDM (Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing) technology, the Tsunami MP.11a enables installation in non-line-of-sight conditions like high-density metropolitan areas.

Like other products in the Tsunami MP.11 family, the Tsunami MP.11a utilizes Proxim’s unique Wireless Outdoor Router Protocol (WORP), which provides highly reliable over-the-air connectivity in outdoor environments and offers increased availability, range and performance compared with other solutions.. WORP also prevents unauthorized access to the network from Wi-Fi systems. In addition, the Tsunami MP.11a supports Asymmetric Bandwidth Management, which allows adjustments to the send and receive data rates independently. This enables service providers to offer differentiated services and pricing for business and residential customers.

The Tsunami MP.11a solution set includes two subscriber units with customized functionality to address the specific needs and budgets of business and residential customers. The business Subscriber Unit offers support for an unlimited number of local devices and antenna flexibility for maximum performance and range. The Residential Subscriber Unit provides everything needed for a residential deployment, including a customer installable “indoor” window antenna, for maximum convenience, ease of deployment and cost savings. The product family also includes the Tsunami MP.11a Base Station Unit, which can connect up to 100 Subscriber Units of either type. Additionally, Tsunami MP.11a can be used in conjunction with Proxim’s carrier-class Tsunami point-to-point and multipoint products that offer speeds up to 960 Mbps total capacity for large-scale deployments.

      Pricing and Availability

Proxim Tsunami MP.11a products are available now through Proxim’s international network of resellers.

The Tsunami MP.11a Base Station Unit has a U.S. list price of $1295. The Tsunami MP.11a Subscriber Unit has a U.S. list price of $695 and the Tsunami MP.11a Residential Subscriber Unit has a U.S. list price of $495.

PROXIM DELIVERS WIRELESS BETTING AT GLORIOUS GOODWOOD HORSE RACES

Tote gives customers speedier service at betting terminals with Proxim Wi-Fi network

High Wycombe, United Kingdom, 4th August 2003 -- Proxim Corporation (Nasdaq: PROX), a global leader in wireless networking equipment for Wi-Fi and wireless wide area networking, provided a reliable, high-speed Wi-Fi network to the Tote, at last week’s Glorious Goodwood Horse Races. The 243 betting terminals were available in all areas of the Goodwood Racecourse including temporary corporate hospitality tents. Roaming customer service agents were also available to take bets via PDAs, enabling customers to conveniently place bets anywhere around the course.
Dave Reckord, the Tote’s National Technical Manager said, “Prior to choosing a wireless network, we had been installing terminals using HDLC cabling, which we found to be generally unreliable and costly. Since we switched to Wi-Fi equipment supplied by Proxim at various race meetings this year, we have seen a major improvement in network reliability and the speed at which it performs. The implementation at Goodwood is 100% wireless throughout, and we have been very pleased with the results to date. The lack of disruption that we would normally expect to see on our fixed network has helped us to achieve better customer service. We are now able to offer our customers a very speedy service.”

He added, “The nature of this technology also allows us to be much more flexible in terms of where we place our betting terminals. It enables us to scale and position betting stations to suit demands.”

“This is a great example of the unique benefits that Wi-Fi networks can provide,” said Jan Jensen, Vice President, EMEA, Proxim. “We are pleased to work with our partner, AirWare, and the Tote to deliver secure and reliable wireless betting transactions in an environment that requires flexible and mobile deployments.”

AirWare, one of Proxim’s partners, met with the Tote to discuss their requirements for wireless implementations in the primary racecourses around the UK, which included Goodwood, Cheltenham, Ascot and Epsom. AirWare specified Proxim’s ORiNOCO range because of its reliability, security and bandwidth capabilities. To date the Tote has over 700 access points and 1200 betting terminals adapted for wireless use. Within the next 18 months to two years the Tote hopes to complete installations at all racecourses.

      About the Tote

Tote Credit is the world`s largest credit betting operation offering pool and bookmaker style betting to its 100,000 account holders.

M33 Access Selects Proxim Voice & Data Backhaul Solutions for Rapidly Growing Wireless Internet Access Network

Unique "Net for Kids" Program to Provide Affordable Internet Connectivity to Students

SUNNYVALE, Calif., August 21, 2003 - Proxim Corporation (Nasdaq: PROX), a global leader in wireless networking equipment for Wi-Fi and wide area networks, today announced that M33 Access, a Michigan-based Internet service provider, has selected Proxim`s wireless last mile access and backhaul solutions for deployment across its network. M33 Access is providing Internet connectivity to individuals, business and schools using a combination of wireless broadband and dial-up connections that are connected via wireless backhaul.

"The M33 wireless network serves a larger area than any other wireless ISP in the United States, covering much of Michigan and expanding into five neighboring states," said Glenn Wilson, president and CEO, M33. "Proxim`s Wi-Fi and broadband wireless solutions deliver the performance and range we need to build a world-class wireless network."

M33 is using a combination of Proxim`s Tsunami point-to-point wireless broadband solutions to provide Internet access to a 20,000 square mile area in a wireless broadband network that stretches 300 miles from one end to another. The range, reliability and performance of Proxim`s Tsunami solutions are ideally suited for the rural areas served by M33. Delivering traditional wireline broadband services can be challenging, and even cost prohibitive for providers. Using Proxim`s solutions, M33 and its customers are realizing dramatic savings in voice and data costs by no longer being forced to rely on costly leased lines.

At Kirtland Community College, for example, M33 Access is using Proxim`s carrier-class Tsunami 45 products to deliver Internet access from M33 headquarters in Rose City. At the college grounds, M33 has installed Proxim`s access points on a large tower to provide outdoor wireless Wi-Fi connectivity. M33 has also installed Proxim`s ORiNOCO access points indoors throughout the campus to provide indoor wireless connectivity in classrooms and offices.

"By switching from our leased DS3 lines to M33`s broadband connections at just one location in our consortium, we have been able to cut our voice and data costs by over 60%," said Tim Scherer, director of Instructional Services, Kirtland Community College. "We are working with M33 Access to replace all of our existing leased line connections with Proxim`s wireless backhaul solutions in 17 additional school districts, to connect over 32 schools and colleges."

M33 Access and Proxim are also working together on the innovative "Net for Kids" program to provide affordable Internet connectivity to students, their families and to the schools themselves. Depending on their location, school districts, students and their families can choose between wireless high-speed broadband or dial-up connections at affordable rates.

"M33 Access has continually been at the forefront of the wireless ISP movement, using wireless to provide both high speed broadband and dial-up access to thousands of individuals, business and government users located in rural areas," said Kevin Duffy, senior vice president of R&D and Product Line Management of Proxim. "Using Proxim`s solutions, we believe M33 can expand its service footprint in a very cost-effective manner."

PROXIM AND HUTTON DELIVER SOLAR-POWERED WIRELESS SECURITY AND SURVEILLANCE SOLUTION

Flexible, Economic Solution Includes Proxim`s Tsunami MP.11 and Solar-Powered IP Video Camera

SUNNYVALE, Calif., August 27, 2003 - Proxim Corporation (Nasdaq: PROX), a global leader in wireless networking equipment for Wi-Fi and wide area networks, and Hutton Communications, Inc., a distributor of wireless communications equipment, today announced a solar-powered wireless surveillance solution that gives customers the flexibility to deploy a security solution virtually anywhere it is needed.

The solution, SolaCam, combines Proxim`s Tsunami MP.11, an economical 802.11-based point-to-multipoint solution, with feature-rich IP video cameras, powered completely by solar energy. Customers can now leverage this reliable, easy to deploy solution for security and surveillance, public safety or traffic monitoring, regardless of whether there is a traditional power source available.

"Customers with remote or hard to access assets, such as oil and gas pipelines, bridges or rural properties, have not had an effective, economical solution for protecting those assets," said Ron Ryan, senior vice president of Sales and Marketing at Hutton. "This solution makes it easy and affordable to set up a wireless connection, and minimizes concerns about locating a traditional power source."

Wireless networking technology enables users to easily install network video products in areas where leased lines are not available or are cost prohibitive, such as on bridges, at utility plants, large campuses or on rough terrain. By adding the capacity for solar power, Proxim and Hutton are eliminating one more barrier for customers who require a reliable, cost-effective security solution.

"Proxim has proven that wireless bridges are very effective for flexible, easy-to-deploy security and surveillance networks," said Kevin Duffy, senior vice president of R&D and Product Line Management at Proxim. "Now by adding solar power to the system, customers can truly deploy a security system anywhere."

In addition to the solar-powered solution, Hutton and Proxim are also offering a solution with battery back-up power. This provides customers a reliable redundancy solution for areas where power is available.

      Pricing and Availability

The solar-powered camera and Tsunami MP.11 bundle is available now through Hutton VARs. It comes in a variety of configurations to fit a customer`s specific needs.

The solar package, SolaCam includes: a Tsunami MP.11 subscriber unit, camera with weatherproof enclosure, a solar panel, enhanced battery system, charge controller, integrated lightning protection, an antenna and RF cable. List price on the SolaCam starts at $2999. (To include a base station unit with the package add $999.)

The battery back up system, BackUp Cam, includes: a Tsunami MP.11 subscriber unit, camera with weatherproof enclosure, integrated lightning protection, an uninterruptible power supply, an antenna and RF cable. List price on Backup Cam starts at $2099. (To include a base station unit with the package add $999.)

Proxim and Ericsson Deliver Wi-Fi Public Hot Spot Solutions to China Mobile

Ericsson to use Proxim`s ORiNOCO AP-2000 access points to deliver seamless mobility to China Mobile subscribers

SUNNYVALE, Calif., Sept. 8, 2003 - Proxim Corporation (Nasdaq: PROX), a global leader in wireless networking equipment for Wi-Fi and wide area networks, announced today that Ericsson (Nasdaq: ERICY), the global market leader in wireless communications infrastructure, will incorporate Proxim`s ORiNOCO AP-2000 Wi-Fi product into the wireless solutions Ericsson is delivering to China Mobile. China Mobile will deploy Ericsson`s WLAN solution, which integrates Proxim`s Wi-Fi products, for public hot spots in more than 10 Chinese cities and provinces, including Beijing, Chongqing, Shandong, and Yunnan. Digital China, the largest IT products distributor and systems integrator in China, is Proxim`s distributor for this project and will provide maintenance services and technical support for Proxim`s products to China Mobile.

Mr. Liang Yongjian, vice president of Ericsson for the China region said, "The joint Ericsson and Proxim solution will accelerate the deployment of public hot spot services across China. The solution integrates with China Mobile`s existing mobile networks, leveraging its investments in subscriber management, billing and authentication, and giving the provider a competitive edge in China`s growing Wi-Fi market."

"We are delighted to collaborate with Ericsson to deliver public hot spot solutions in China," said Deborah Ablahat-Cipriano, senior vice president of sales and marketing at Proxim. "By integrating Wi-Fi into its existing mobile network, China Mobile can provide the mobile Internet services that people want, when and where they want them."

According to Synergy Research, the wireless equipment market in Asia is expected to grow to over $900 Million by 2007. "Asia, and specifically China, are quickly increasing their demand for wireless infrastructure," said Aaron Vance, industry analyst with Synergy Research Group. "This collaboration with Ericsson and China Mobile should strategically position Proxim to provide an extensive network of public hot spots."

Proxim`s ORiNOCO AP-2000 is the most flexible enterprise-class access point available. The AP-2000`s dual slot functionality allows migration to high speed 54 Mbps wireless data rates through simple addition of 802.11a or 802.11g PC cards in the second slot.

Through active collaboration with Proxim`s China partners, all major service providers in China are deploying Proxim`s wireless networking solutions, such as voice and data backhaul, public hot spots, and last-mile broadband access solutions.

In addition, Proxim and Ericsson are jointly developing SIM-based authentication for public hot spot access. This will allow users to gain secure access to a public hot spot via mobile phone SIM cards as a means of authentication using the SIM Extensible Authentication Protocol for GSM (EAP-SIM) and the Authentication and Key Agreement Protocol (EAP-AKA) for UMTS, as well as Proxim`s 802.1x AP security implementations.

      N´Abend!

Was sagen die Charttechniker?

      Proxim Delivers Third Quarter Update

Progress Reported on Four-Point Plan to Restructure and Return to Sustained Profitability

SUNNYVALE, Calif., Sept. 9, 2003 -- Proxim Corporation (NASDAQ: PROX), a global leader in wireless networking equipment for Wi-Fi and broadband wireless networks, today announced the company’s guidance for its third quarter, ending September 26, 2003. Revenues for Q3 are estimated to be approximately $33 million, with non-GAAP, or pro forma, loss estimated at ($0.03) to ($0.05) per share. This estimate includes two non-recurring expense items totalling ($0.02) per share, representing expenses related to the company’s patent litigation with Symbol Technologies and interest expense for convertible promissory notes. The equivalent generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) loss estimate for Q3 is ($0.02) to ($0.04).
The reconciliation of the estimated range of the pro forma loss per share to the estimated range of the GAAP loss per share is set forth at the end of this press release.

      Progress Reported on Four-Point Plan
Proxim also announced progress on its previously announced four-point plan to restructure the company to deliver sustained growth and profitability. Proxim’s four-point plan includes the following key initiatives:

      Accelerating sales
Extending our technology and portfolio leadership
      Managing our cash position
      Returning to sustained profitability
Accelerating Sales: Proxim is tuning its channel strategy to attract higher-volume Enterprise channel partners both for its WiFi and wireless broadband products. Proxim has also announced several customer wins in the third quarter, including a distribution and licensing agreement with Motorola and deployments with China Mobile and Panera Breads, a food retailer. Proxim continues to expand its sales team coverage in an effort to take advantage of growth markets on a global basis.

Extending technology and portfolio leadership: Proxim announced two additions to its Proxim Tsunami wireless broadband portfolio. The Proxim Tsunami MP.11a point-to-multipoint solution delivers up to 54 Mbps data rates in three separate frequency bands -- support that is required for Europe and Asia deployments. This solution supports non-line-of-sight, making it well-suited for highly dense urban environments. Proxim also partnered with one of its distributors, Hutton Communications, to deliver a solar-powered wireless security and surveillance solution. This gives our customers the ability to deploy this solution virtually anywhere, regardless of whether there is traditional power available. Applications for this product include military, gas and oil pipelines, large bridges and utility plants.

Managing Cash Position: Proxim has received the $30 million investment from Warburg Pincus and Broadview Capital Partners in the form of secured promissory notes, as originally announced in July. The proxy statements have been finalized and mailed to our stockholders of record as of September 2, 2003 requesting shareholder approval to exchange the promissory notes debt to Series B preferred stock at the special stockholder meeting scheduled for October 7, 2003. Upon approval, Proxim can elect to increase the investment by an additional $10 million, prior to January 18, 2004.

Returning to Sustained Profitability: Proxim continues to take steps to reduce operating expenses. The number of global facilities has been brought down from 20 to 12 including R&D facilities down from six to two. Headcount is now 357, down from 434 in Q1 2003.

“I am pleased with Proxim’s ongoing progress, and feel that much has been accomplished over the past four months to position Proxim to realize its potential in the WiFi and wireless broadband markets,” said Frank Plastina, president and chief executive officer, Proxim Corporation. “I am confident that we have the right products and team in place to drive the company to sustained profitability.”

These estimated results are based on Proxim`s initial analysis of anticipated operating results and are subject to change based on actual revenue, cost of revenue and operating expenses. The Company is scheduled to announce its actual results for the third quarter after the market close on October 21, 2003. A more detailed review will be provided at that time. Motorola and Proxim Expand Strategic Relationship

Proxim Wi-Fi and broadband wireless products to be distributed through Motorola’s North America two-way radio dealers

SUNNYVALE, Calif., and SCHAUMBURG, Ill., September 9, 2003 -- Proxim Corporation (NASDAQ: PROX), a global leader in wireless networking equipment for Wi-Fi and broadband wireless networks, and Motorola, Inc. (NYSE: MOT), through its Commercial, Government and Industrial Solutions Sector (CGISS), today announced an expanded strategic relationship. Through a licensing and distribution agreement, Proxim’s Wi-Fi and wireless broadband solutions will be offered to Motorola CGISS’ commercial and industrial customers. Motorola CGISS plans to have product available through its North America authorized two-way radio dealers in the fourth quarter of this year. The license and distribution agreement is initially estimated at $10 million through 2004 for Proxim.
Proxim and Motorola CGISS also plan to co-develop next-generation broadband wireless solutions. These solutions are expected to leverage Motorola CGISS’ expertise in radio communications and information solutions with Proxim’s expertise in Wi-Fi and broadband wireless technologies.

“This agreement reflects Motorola’s commitment to drive new opportunities in the Wi-Fi and broadband wireless marketplace,” said Bill Delaney, Motorola director of product operations for CGISS’ North America Radio Products and Services Division. “Our customers count on Motorola to provide high-value applications and innovative solutions, and Proxim’s solutions will be an important addition to our radio communications and wireless broadband portfolio.”

“We are pleased with our expanded strategic relationship with Motorola,” said Frank Plastina, Proxim chief executive officer and president. “Motorola CGISS’ extensive dealer network will significantly expand our presence in the marketplace, and we look forward to working with them on the joint development of next-generation broadband wireless solutions.”

Today’s announcement builds on existing collaborative efforts such as the alliance between Motorola, Avaya, and Proxim that brings together cellular, Wi-Fi and IP telephony technologies to provide seamless roaming between enterprise and cellular networks.

Proxim also announced a separate agreement under which Proxim has issued to Motorola a warrant to purchase 1,080,000 shares of Proxim common stock at an exercise price equal to $2.34 per share – the closing market price on the day prior to the license and distribution agreement being executed. The number of shares issuable upon exercise of the warrant equals Motorola’s current common stock ownership in Proxim, purchased in a private placement transaction with Proxim, Inc. on January 1999.

      Guten Morgen!

investieren ja schon stärker in diesem Sektor.

Jury Renders Verdict in First Phase of Patent Suit

SUNNYVALE, Calif., Sept. 15 / Proxim Corporation
(Nasdaq: PROX) today announced that a jury had rendered a verdict in the first
phase of Symbol Technologies, Inc.`s. patent suit with Proxim before the U.S.
District Court for the District of Delaware. Proceedings on this matter will
continue, with the court to conduct a bench trial on Proxim`s remaining
equitable defenses not addressed by the jury.
On Symbol Technologies` claims of patent infringement, the jury found that
certain Proxim products infringe two Symbol Technologies patents and assessed
a 6% royalty on Proxim`s sales of these products from 1995. Proxim estimates
that such royalty payments for past sales of these products would be
approximately $22 million. Proxim has not been enjoined from continued sales
of these products and royalty payments, if any, on these sales have not been
determined by the court. In addition, Proxim does not incur any immediate
financial obligation to Symbol Technologies as a result of this verdict,
      pending completion of related proceedings.
In an additional, related matter, a trial on Proxim`s counterclaims, which
allege that certain Symbol Technologies products infringe on a Proxim patent,
is scheduled to commence in the U.S. District Court for the District of
Delaware, before a different jury, on September 16, 2003.
Proxim intends to vigorously defend itself in this litigation and to
consider all available options after the conclusion of all matters before the
      court.

Millionen an Symbol Technologies zahlen müsste?

Hab ich da was übersehen ?

gewonnen sei. Was ist aber mit den Reaktionen seitens
Proxim´s?

PROXIM: Proxim raises the bar for ast mile access and high bandwidth metropolitan area networking Proxim`s Tsunami MP.11a is the first high-performance multipoint solution operating in the 5.47-5.725 GHz license-free band available for use in Europe

London, United Kingdom, Sep 23, 2003 (M2 PRESSWIRE via COMTEX) -- Proxim
Corporation (Nasdaq: PROX), a global leader in wireless networking equipment for
Wi-Fi and wireless wide area networking, today announced the new Proxim Tsunami
MP.11a, a high performance, affordable and secure outdoor wireless solution for
service providers and enterprises that offers 54 Mbps data rates in three
separate 5GHz frequency bands for global deployments. It also offers non-line of
site capabilities for urban environments with dense populations.

"Proxim`s Tsunami MP.11a raises the bar by offering outdoor wireless performance
levels and features that are unmatched in the industry at a price that is very
affordable," said Kevin Duffy, senior vice president of R&D and Product Line
Management for Proxim. "The increased spectrum and data rates offered by the
Tsunami MP.11a enable applications including multi-camera security and
surveillance networks, high-density metropolitan networks, data backhaul, and
last mile access that can be deployed globally."

"We see a definite need for the increased performance and range of Proxim`s
Tsunami MP.11a," said Michael Blomqvist, Sales and Marketing manager of Nowire,
a distributor of wireless solutions to service providers, based in Sweden. "We
have had great results with Proxim`s Tsunami MP.11 and the optimisation provided
by the WORP protocol. Operators running last mile and hotspot networks will get
higher bandwidth as well as more capacity with the new Tsunami MP.11a products
      from Proxim."

The Tsunami MP.11a offers 54 Mbps data rates with up to 30 Mbps effective
bandwidth. It also provides the OFDM modulation, Transmit Power Control and
Dynamic Frequency Selection features required for European deployments.

      High Performance Features

The Tsunami MP.11a enables channel bonding, to connect channels for greater
range. Since it utilises OFDM (Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing)
technology, the Tsunami MP.11a enables installation in non-line-of-sight
      conditions like high-density metropolitan areas.

Like other products in the Tsunami MP.11 family, the Tsunami MP.11a utilises
Proxim`s unique Wireless Outdoor Router Protocol (WORP), which provides highly
reliable over-the-air connectivity in outdoor environments and offers increased
availability, range and performance compared with other solutions. WORP also
prevents unauthorised access to the network from Wi-Fi systems. In addition, the
Tsunami MP.11a supports Asymmetric Bandwidth Management, which allows
adjustments to the send and receive data rates independently. This enables
service providers to offer differentiated services and pricing for business and
      residential customers.

The Tsunami MP.11a solution set includes two subscriber units with customised
functionality to address the specific needs and budgets of business and
residential customers. The business Subscriber Unit offers support for an
unlimited number of local devices and antenna flexibility for maximum
performance and range. The Residential Subscriber Unit provides everything
needed for a residential deployment, including a customer installable "indoor"
window antenna, for maximum convenience, ease of deployment and cost savings.

The product family also includes the Tsunami MP.11a Base Station Unit, which can
connect up to 100 Subscriber Units of either type. Additionally, Tsunami MP.11a
can be used in conjunction with Proxim`s carrier-class Tsunami point-to-point
and multipoint products that offer speeds up to 960 Mbps total capacity for
      large-scale deployments.

      Pricing and Availability

Proxim Tsunami MP.11a products will be available in Q4 through Proxim`s
      international network of resellers.

The Tsunami MP.11a Base Station Unit has a U.S. list price of $1295. The Tsunami
MP.11a Subscriber Unit has a U.S. list price of $695 and the Tsunami MP.11a
Residential Subscriber Unit has a U.S. list price of $495.

Symbol/Verdict: Proxim Says Case Is Ongoing
Monday September 29, 6:32 pm ET

HOLTSVILLE, N.Y. (Dow Jones)--Symbol Technologies Inc. said a U.S. District Court jury found that its products do not infringe a patent held by Proxim Corp. (NasdaqNM:PROX - News) .

In a press release Monday, the voice and data communications systems maker said the decision was part of a larger case involving wireless local area network technology.

Part of the case was decided earlier this month, also in favor of Symbol. In that case, a jury awarded Symbol 6% royalties on Proxim`s past sales, or about $ 23 million before interest.

Symbol said it will now ask the court to enter a judgment on the two verdicts.

A spokesman for Proxim, Sunnyvale, Calif., said the company still considers the lawsuits ongoing matters.

There are several other proceedings that remain which could have an effect on the outcome, and will be considered by a judge only, the Proxim spokesman said.

He could not say when those proceedings will be completed.

In after-hours trade, shares of Symbol Technologies rose to $12.26 from the close of $12.14, while Proxim shares fell to $1.56 from the close of $1.71, according to the Island ECN (News - Websites) order book.

      SUNNYVALE, Calif., Oct. 2

-- Proxim Corporation , a global leader in wireless networking equipment for Wi-Fi and wide area networks, today announced that the Company has agreed to amended terms of the securities purchase agreement with Warburg Pincus and Broadview Capital Partners and the $30 million secured promissory notes issued to these investors in July 2003. Proxim will postpone the special meeting of stockholders scheduled for Tuesday, October 7, 2003 to a date to be announced and will circulate updated proxy materials for the special meeting of stockholders to consider the amended financing terms. Proxim anticipates that this meeting will take place in late October or November 2003.

The parties anticipate that the $30 million secured promissory notes issued to Warburg Pincus and Broadview Capital Partners will be amended to extend the due date from December 31, 2003 to September 30, 2004. In addition, the terms previously providing for automatic exchange of the notes, upon stockholder approval, for shares of Series B convertible preferred stock will be modified to provide for exchange at the investors`` sole discretion following stockholder approval. The secured promissory notes will continue to bear interest at the original rate of 25 percent per annum until the earlier of the due date or exchange, if any, for shares of Series B preferred stock.

The Series B preferred stock issuable upon exchange of the secured promissory notes, if any, will be convertible into shares of Proxim``s Class A common stock at a conversion price of $1.15 per share, as previously agreed. Pursuant to the amendments to the securities purchase agreement, the Series B preferred stock will have rights to a 14 percent cumulative dividend, compounding quarterly for seven years, with acceleration upon a change of control.

In addition, the investors have agreed to make available to the Company an additional $10 million, issuable in exchange for additional secured promissory notes on the amended terms applicable to the original $30 million investment. Of this amount, the investors have agreed to permit the Company to call an investment of $5 million prior to stockholder approval and the balance of $5 million following stockholder approval for a period of 90 days.

Upon receipt of stockholder approval, the Company will issue to the investors warrants to purchase an aggregate of 18,000,000 shares of common stock with an exercise price of $1.46, as previously agreed, plus additional warrants to purchase an aggregate of 6,000,000 shares of common stock with an exercise price equal to the weighted average closing price of Proxim``s common stock for the five trading days prior the date of this announcement.

As previously announced on September 15, 2003, a jury has rendered a verdict in the first phase of the patent suit between Proxim and Symbol Technologies, finding certain of Proxim``s products infringe on two Symbol Technologies patents. A final judgment on this matter has not been entered by the court and proceedings on the matter will continue. The court is to conduct a bench trial on Proxim``s remaining equitable defenses not addressed by the jury in its September 15 verdict. In light of these developments, the parties will modify the definition of material adverse change that triggers an event of default under the notes to include any further material adverse rulings or judgments made against the Company in this litigation or other litigations.

The parties intend to enter into definitive documents setting forth the amended financing terms as soon as reasonably practicable.

"We are pleased with Warburg Pincus`` and Broadview Capital Partners`` continued financial support of the Company," said Frank Plastina, Chief Executive Officer and President of Proxim.

Proxim Corporation Reports Third Quarter 2003 Financial Results

      * Revenues of $35.1 million – exceeding mid-quarter target by $2 million
      * Non-GAAP net loss of $(0.04) per share – in line with target
      * GAAP net loss of $(0.31) per share versus $(0.40) per share net loss in second quarter 2003
      * Proxim ORiNOCO Wi-Fi portfolio sales growth outpaces third quarter 2003 industry forecasts

SUNNYVALE, Calif., October 21, 2003 -- Proxim Corporation (Nasdaq: PROX), a global leader in wireless networking equipment for Wi-Fi and broadband wireless, today announced financial results for the third quarter and nine months ended September 26, 2003. Total revenue for the third quarter of 2003 was $35.1 million, compared to total revenue of $24.1 million for the third quarter of 2002. Total revenue for the nine months ended September 26, 2003 was $109.9 million, which included license revenues of $6 million, compared to total revenue of $94.7 million for the nine months ended September 27, 2002. The 2002 financial results include: the results of the former Western Multiplex Corporation for the period from January 1, 2002 to September 27, 2002, the results of the former Proxim, Inc. from March 27, 2002 to September 27, 2002, and the results of the former Agere Wireless LAN Systems business from August 6, 2002 to September 27, 2002, in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) for accounting for business combinations.

The net loss attributable to common stockholders computed in accordance with GAAP for the third quarter of 2003 was $(38.2) million, or $(0.31) per share, compared to the GAAP net loss of $(48.7) million, or $(0.40) per share for the second quarter of 2003. The GAAP net loss attributable to common stockholders for the nine months ended September 26, 2003 was $(97.7) million, or $(0.81) per share, compared to the GAAP net loss of $(100.4) million or $(1.00) per share for the nine months ended September 27 2002. The net loss attributable to common stockholders reflects accretion of the redemption value of Series A Preferred Stock issued during the third quarter of 2002.

Excluding certain charges discussed below and the amortization of intangible assets and deferred stock compensation and purchased in-process research and development in the respective periods, the non-GAAP, or pro forma, net loss for the third quarter of 2003 was $(4.8) million, or $(0.04) per share, compared to the non-GAAP net loss of $(10.7) million, or $(0.09) per share for the third quarter of 2002. The non-GAAP net loss for the nine months ended September 26, 2003 was $(12.2) million, or $(0.10) per share, compared to the non-GAAP net loss of $(12.1) million, or $(0.12) per share for the nine months ended September 27, 2002.

During the third quarter of 2003, Proxim recorded a $25.8 million charge, or $(0.21) per share, for royalties ($22.9 million) and interest ($2.9 million) associated with the ongoing litigation with Symbol Technologies. This charge is a preliminary estimate based on the September 14, 2003 jury verdict. The amount and timing of any actual cash settlement will be dependent on the outcome of the ongoing legal proceedings, including a bench trial on Proxim’s equitable defenses. Proxim views the Symbol litigation as an ongoing legal matter. There has been no final judgment entered and Proxim is currently under no financial obligation as a result of the September 14, 2003 initial jury verdict. Proxim has also not been enjoined from continued sales of these products. Proxim will revise this preliminary estimate, if necessary, when more information becomes available.

The non-GAAP results of operations for the third quarter of 2003 exclude the Symbol litigation accrual, a $5.2 million benefit resulting from the revision of an estimate for a prior quarter restructuring charge, amortization of intangible assets of $5.4 million, bad debt charge of $2.3 million arising from restructuring, and accretion of Series A preferred stock redemption obligations of $1.6 million. In addition, the non-GAAP results for the third quarter of 2003 include a benefit for income taxes of $3.4 million, reflecting potential net operating loss carryforwards resulting from an operating loss during the period. The $5.2 million benefit resulting from the revision of estimates in prior quarter restructuring includes a $1.9 million charge related to employee severance, a $12.7 million charge related to facilities closures in the current quarter, and a reversal of $19.8 million of restructuring reserves previously recorded as a result of the settlement of lease obligations related to a building in Sunnyvale, CA.

The non-GAAP results of operations for the third quarter of 2002 exclude a charge of $4.9 million related to the amortization of purchased intangibles and deferred stock compensation, a restructuring charge of $2.3 million related to the closing of certain facilities and severance pay for terminated employees, $10.4 million charged to purchased in-process research and development, Series A preferred stock dividend of $2.7 million, accretion of Series A preferred stock redemption obligations of $0.5 million, and include a benefit for income taxes of $3.6 million.

As of September 26, 2003, cash, including cash equivalents, short-term investments and restricted cash totaled $15.6 million, as compared to $7.9 million as of June 27, 2003.

Also today, Proxim entered into definitive documents with Warburg Pincus and Broadview Capital to amend the terms of its outstanding $30 million secured promissory notes. The terms of the amended financing agreements, as described in the Company’s October 2, 2003 press release, are more fully described in a Form 8-K to be filed by Proxim.

“Proxim is continuing to see tangible results in our plan to return to sustained growth and profitability,” said Frank Plastina, President and CEO, Proxim. “We were especially pleased with the 17 percent sequential revenue performance for our Proxim ORiNOCO Wi-Fi products, which outpaced industry forecasts of three percent for Wi-Fi access point revenue growth. Based on our performance and industry forecasts, we believe we gained market share during the third quarter.”

Proxim Named Exclusive Hot Spot Supplier for All Major Norwegian Airports

Travelers Across Norway Can Now Access High-Speed Internet in Any Airport

SUNNYVALE, Calif., Nov. 10, 2003 - Proxim Corporation (Nasdaq: PROX), a global leader in wireless networking equipment for Wi-Fi and broadband wireless networks, today announced that it is providing the Access Point infrastructure for wireless hot spots in every airport in Norway. Under the supervision of Avinor, the Norwegian airport administration, each airport will offer high-speed Internet access to travelers with Wi-Fi equipped laptops.

According to research firm IDC, demand for hot spots is expected to grow dramatically, particularly in Europe. They predict nearly 8 million hot spot users in Western Europe by 2007, with the majority of those users logging in to networks in airports, hotels, and restaurants.

"Business travelers increasingly expect to have wireless access in major airports around the world," said Tom Tuskin, IT Project Manager for Avinor. "We want to be a leader in providing this customer service across all of our airports, and working with Proxim we were able to build an easy to manage, cost-effective network that was able to scale for the different airports involved."

Oslo Airport in Gardemoen was the first airport to deploy a public hotspot, using over 200 of Proxim`s ORiNOCO AP-2000 Access Points and the Nomadix Universal Subscriber Gateway, a high-performance platform for large public access deployments. The centralized architecture enabled by this combination of products delivers the easy management, scalability and user authentication required for large public access deployments. After extensive testing, Avinor selected the combined Proxim-Nomadix solution because it offered the most reliable, secure and flexible network to meet their needs across every airport environment.

"Public facilities are beginning to recognize the importance of offering wireless Internet service to customers," said Jan Jensen, vice president of sales, EMEA, for Proxim. "We are excited to be part of this major project to provide wireless service to Norway`s airports, which we believe will set the standard for public hot spot access across the country."

Wireless networks are currently being rolled out in the other major airports in Norway and are scheduled for completion at the end of this year. The other airports are: Stavanger, Bergen and Trondheim. In addition to providing hot spot capabilities, the networks will provide wireless infrastructure for airport administrative offices.

PROXIM DELIVERS HIGH-BANDWIDTH BROADBAND WIRELESS NETWORK SPANNING SIX PENNSYLVANIA COUNTIES

Counties Improve Information Sharing, Speed 911 Call Response Time with Wireless Broadband Solution

SUNNYVALE, Calif., Nov. 17, 2003 - Proxim Corporation (Nasdaq: PROX), a global leader in wireless networking equipment for Wi-Fi and broadband wireless networks, today announced that its Tsunami wireless broadband solution is being deployed by six counties in Pennsylvania, under the leadership of the North Central Pennsylvania Regional Planning and Development Commission (NCPRPDC), to facilitate sharing of regional information and to improve communication among the counties.

Using a federal grant provided to develop an Intelligent Transportation System, the NCPRPDC and Area Transportation Authority (ATA) teamed with architecture and engineering firm L. Robert Kimball & Associates to design a system to modernize their old network and support data exchange between the counties. The network enables fast, reliable data exchange between six counties covering more than 5,000 square miles. One of the key network applications was to map rural portions of the counties to enable 911 addressing, which allows the system to automatically identify callers` locations, dramatically speeding emergency response times.

"We realized that all of these counties had fragmented communication systems and very limited broadband infrastructure which made emergency support much more difficult," said Ed Matts, Technology Coordinator of the NCPRPDC. "The new broadband wireless network enabled us to quickly and cost-effectively improve data exchange between the counties, speeding emergency response times and potentially saving lives."

The NCPRPDC selected Proxim`s Tsunami point-to-point and point-to-multipoint Ethernet bridges to connect county planning offices, 911 facilities, courthouses and other government offices across the six counties involved. The Tsunami products offer the high-capacity, secure links the NCPRPDC required, and proved much quicker to deploy and offered significant cost savings over alternate systems.

"When the idea for this project was first conceived we considered using dedicated leased lines for the backhaul of data," said Jim Swanson, System Engineer for the NCPRPDC. "It didn`t take long to realize that the only cost-effective way to implement this Wide Area Network was to use wireless technology."

"The NCPRPDC needed a network that would span many miles and still deliver reliable service," said Brian Malinich, Project Engineer of L. Robert Kimball & Associates. "A wireless network was the obvious choice to provide the capacity required, with the budget and timeline we were working under, and Proxim`s solutions fit perfectly into that framework."

In addition to supporting the 911 system, the NCPRPDC is using the new wireless network to deliver high-speed Internet access to government buildings and to support ATA`s two-way radio communications to their buses. Of the 24 links planned for the system, 13 are currently deployed with plans to connect the remaining counties within the next year.

"The NCPRPDC has joined other forward-thinking communities and local governments in recognizing the many benefits of wireless for reliable, cost-effective networks," said Deborah Ablahat-Cipriano, senior vice president of marketing for Proxim. "Proxim is pleased to be working with them to quickly and economically bring their communications network into the 21st century."

PROXIM BROADBAND WIRELESS PRODUCTS DELIVER IMPROVED BANDWIDTH, SIGNIFICANT COST SAVINGS TO YORK COUNTY, PENNSYLVANIA

Government, Educational and Non-profit Agencies Obtain Up to Ten Times the Bandwidth, $100K Per Year in Cost Reduction with New Community-based Wireless Broadband Network

SUNNYVALE, Calif., Nov. 17, 2003 - Proxim Corporation (Nasdaq: PROX), a global leader in wireless networking equipment for Wi-Fi and wide area networks, today announced that its Tsunami Broadband Wireless products are being used as the basis for York County, Pennsylvania`s new metro area wireless network. The community-based network, which links the county`s government, educational and non-profit agencies, was designed and deployed by local VAR, Business Information Group (BIG), and gives York County agencies up to 10 times their previously available bandwidth with savings of up to $100K per year.

Like many counties within the United States, York County was faced with both a rapidly increasing demand for broadband connectivity within its schools, libraries and government agencies, and a dire need to slash the high cost of its T1 connections. In addition, the York County school districts wanted to centralize their server operations, but were unable to do so, because of the low bandwidth speeds between locations.

The newly designed wireless network allows the York County agencies to realize substantial bandwidth gains - up to 10 times that of the previous network - and is self-sustaining and self-funding, providing huge cost-savings - up to $100K per year - as compared to traditional broadband solutions. The network currently serves 40 anchor locations, with 20 more scheduled for turn-up in 2004.

"Prior to implementing the broadband wireless network, our county was faced with communication needs that simply outpaced our available bandwidth and made the cost of providing additional bandwidth prohibitive," said Christina Ginder, Technology, Education and Development Director of Crispus Attucks Association, Inc., a community center that serves low-income families in York County, PA. "We`re not the typical non-profit community center that focuses on one or two areas of community need. The services we provide for low-income families include housing, daycare, after school educational programs, a charter school for youth that have dropped out or on probation, employment and training, a senior center, technology/computer training, revitalizing abandoned buildings and creating jobs, and exploring new ways to help the community, like our CATS Wireless Community Network. We are thrilled with the initial results of the wireless network, particularly with the cost savings we are realizing."

"The York County network clearly demonstrates the reliability, flexibility, increased bandwidth and cost-effectiveness of a community-based wireless network," said John Dolmetsch, president of BIG. "This type of network can be deployed anywhere in the country regardless of terrain or population - a significant advantage over traditional broadband solutions."

In addition to linking the remaining 20 York County locations to the wireless network, future expansion of the network applications will include mobile communications to Emergency Management Services (EMS) vehicles and school buses, video security for schools and delivery of affordable broadband to home-schooled students and non-profit educational facilities.

"Proxim`s Tsunami products have long been recognized for their reliability and performance in a variety of environments," said Deborah Ablahat-Cipriano, senior vice president of marketing for Proxim. "County planning and government agencies are beginning to emerge as a substantial market opportunity with applications that are well-served by wireless broadband solutions. We are pleased to be working with BIG to bring innovative, affordable solutions to forward-thinking counties like York County, PA."

Future Tech Enterprise Deploys Proxim Access Points to Deliver Wireless Internet Access to New York Islanders` Nassau Coliseum

Proxim ORiNOCO Access Points Are Integral Part of Wireless Solution for Coliseum Customers

SUNNYVALE, Calif., Nov. 24, 2003 - Proxim Corporation (Nasdaq: PROX), a global leader in wireless networking equipment for Wi-Fi and wide area networks, today announced that its ORiNOCO Access Points are being used as the foundation for a new wireless technology package that is being deployed in the Nassau Veteran`s Memorial Coliseum in New York by leading network integrator Future Tech Enterprise, Inc. (FTEI), in conjunction with the New York Islanders. The Coliseum is home to the popular New York Islanders National Hockey league team.

FTEI, a leading network integrator and reseller of computer systems, software, and peripherals, selected Proxim`s ORiNOCO AP-2000 and AP-600 Access Points to deliver wireless Internet access to the Coliseum in the first of a series of planned technology upgrades, initially focused on the Coliseum`s Executive Suites or skyboxes. Leased by 34 of Long Island`s leading corporations, the suites are designed for luxury viewing and business entertaining during New York Islanders` home games. In addition to the wireless Internet capability, which will be a standard feature for all suites, those suite owners who wish to upgrade their skybox, can select from two different "Technology Packages," created by FTEI, which will bring state of the art technology to their suites including flat panel plasma displays for presentations, IP Telephony, printing, scanning, copying and facsimile capabilities, and Virtual Private Networking (VPN) services.

"The Nassau Coliseum application is indicative of how wireless technology is revolutionizing the way companies do business and how far-reaching the applications for wireless can be," said Deborah Ablahat-Cipriano, senior vice president of sales and marketing for Proxim. "We are excited to be the exclusive provider of access points for the innovative solution that FTEI is delivering to the New York Islanders` home arena. We see the potential for Proxim Access Points to serve this type of application in sporting arenas and stadiums around the country."

"Incorporating best-of-breed technology was critical to the successful deployment of our wireless solution for the Nassau Coliseum," said Bob Venero, president and owner of FTEI. "Proxim`s ORiNOCO Access Points delivered the enhanced functionality and remote management capabilities we were looking for and offered a mature, stable and robust architecture. The Access Points gave us a clear advantage for deploying the type of reliable, yet leading-edge solution we wanted to offer Coliseum customers."

"Future Suite represents the future of conducting business at a sports and entertainment arena," said Paul Lancey, senior vice president of the New York Islanders. "The Suite is a true testimony to best of breed technology and we`re excited that the genesis of this project began here at the Nassau Coliseum with the New York Islanders."

Proxim`s ORiNOCO Access Points are designed to handle the unique requirements of public hot spot deployments. Their dual-slot architecture enables multi-standard support, higher user density and the option of using one slot to extend the wireless network to other access points for larger locations. Additionally, Proxim`s ORiNOCO products offer advanced security and remote management capabilities to make deployments more robust and simple.

      · The Mobile Enterprise
      · Voice and Data Backhaul
      · Security and Surveillance
      · Last Mile Access
      · Public Hot Spots
      · Metropolitan Area Networks

Proxim bietet ab November das weltweite Trainingsprogramm “Securing and Scaling Wireless Networks” an.
      http://www.proxim.com/partners/webinarformsecuritymobile.htm…

500 000 bis 700 000 US$ Umsatz einbringen.

SkyBridge Wireless Inc. to Deploy FCC Licensed Proxim Tsunami Radios for Entire Las Vegas Fixed Wireless Network Backbone
Thursday February 5, 4:49 pm ET

LAS VEGAS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb. 5, 2004--SkyBridge Wireless Inc. (OTCBB: SBWL - News) has chosen the Proxim (NASDAQ: PROX - News) Tsunami equipment line of 23GHz FCC licensed products for the entire deployment of the Las Vegas Fixed Wireless network backbone. Jason Neiberger, SkyBridge Wireless Inc. president & director of technology, stated, "We previously deployed this product here in the Las Vegas network, and have tested it thoroughly and found that the Proxim Tsunami products provide us with an efficient and cost-effective solution that meets our high demand for reliable high-speed network connectivity and security."
Currently, SkyBridge Wireless Inc. is negotiating a blanket order and delivery schedule with Proxim and their distributors, and expects to deploy 10 Proxim Tsunami 23GHz licensed backbone links for the Las Vegas Fixed Wireless network within the first two quarters of 2004, and a total of 16 by the end of December 2004. "We have decided to use Proxim equipment for our wireless backbone because of the quality, performance, reliability, and availability that Proxim and its products bring to SkyBridge Wireless Inc.," stated James Wheeler, SkyBridge Wireless Inc. CEO. "The cost-effective and flexible Tsunami equipment allows us to build out our High Speed Fixed Wireless network to be able to provide High Speed Wireless Broadband access to the entire Las Vegas and Henderson market, most of which has no other cost-effective solution for Internet broadband."

      About SkyBridge Wireless

SkyBridge Wireless is positioned to produce solid growth, rapidly increasing revenues and impressive share value gains. Focused on High Growth Areas in High Growth Sectors, the company is focused on high-speed fixed wireless Internet access to businesses and communities in some of the nation`s fastest-growing metropolitan markets, with initial efforts in Las Vegas, a very dynamic market. Wireless service allows customers to use the Internet at speeds up to 50 times faster than today`s dial-up modems. As the desire for more information, communication and entertainment grows, so does the need for solutions to provide these services at high speed and at an acceptable cost. SkyBridge Wireless fixed wireless broadband access provides just that, offering solutions that meet the requirements of businesses and enterprises alike, at a fraction of the cost of wireline T-1 data connections, and can be installed and operational in a much shorter time than other data solutions. Wireless represents one of today`s fastest-growing industry sectors. No assurance can be made that SkyBridge will accomplish its goals.

      hi @all!

Proxim Corporation Announces First Quarter 2004 Preliminary Results

SUNNYVALE, Calif., April 7, 2004 - Proxim Corporation
(Nasdaq: PROX), a global leader in wireless networking
equipment for Wi-Fi and wide area networks, announced
today that it expects to report revenue for the first
fiscal quarter of 2004 of between $25 million and $27
million, compared to the $37 million target previously
provided in January 2004. Based on revenue in this
range, Proxim expects to report a non-GAAP or operating
pro-forma loss per share in the range of ($.06) to ($.04)
for the first fiscal quarter of 2004, which compares to
the target range previously provided for the quarter of
      ($.03) to ($.01).

Proxim also estimates that its first quarter order
backlog will be approximately $12.0 million, reflecting a
late quarter increase in orders. This compares to an
order backlog of $6.3 million at the end of the fourth
quarter 2003. Cash, cash equivalents and restricted cash
at the end of the first quarter are expected to be
approximately $16.6 million, compared to $21.0 million at
the end of the fourth quarter 2003.

      SUNNYVALE, Calif., Oct 22, 2004 /PRNewswire-FirstCall via COMTEX/ -- Proxim
Corporation (Nasdaq: PROX), a global leader in wireless networking equipment for
Wi-Fi and broadband wireless, announced that its stockholders approved the final
phase of its capital structure simplication plan. The final tally of stockholder
votes was 98 percent of the votes cast voting in favor of the proposal.

Effective today, Warburg Pincus and BCP Capital will surrender all of their
Series A convertible preferred stock, all of their Series B convertible
preferred stock and all of their common stock warrants in exchange for an
aggregate of 164,000,000 shares of Proxim common stock and 400,000 shares of
newly designated Series C preferred stock. The Series C preferred stock issued
to Warburg Pincus and BCP Capital is non-voting and nonconvertible into common
stock, and it is mandatorily redeemable in 2012.

Stockholders also today authorized Proxim`s Board of Directors to effect a
1-for-10 reverse stock split of Proxim`s outstanding common stock. The reverse
stock split is anticipated to be effective Monday, October 25, 2004. Upon
effectiveness, Proxim believes this action will result in Proxim regaining
compliance with NASDAQ listing requirements. For the 20 trading days following
the effective date of reverse stock split, Proxim`s common stock will trade on
the NASDAQ National Market under the symbol "PROXD" to reflect the change.

"We are pleased that our stockholders have overwhelmingly approved the final
phase of Proxim`s capital structure simplification plan," said Frank Plastina,
Chairman and Chief Executive Officer at Proxim. "We are also gratified that our
major investors have shown confidence in Proxim`s opportunities by their
willingness to take a common stake in our success."

At their fully accreted value, the exchanged shares of Series A convertible
preferred stock and Series B convertible preferred stock held by Warburg Pincus
and BCP Capital would have converted into a total of approximately 158 million
shares of common stock. Additionally, the warrants exchanged by Warburg Pincus
and BCP Capital could have been exercised for approximately 42 million shares of
common stock at specified exercise prices.

By surrendering all of their Series A convertible preferred stock, all of their
Series B convertible preferred stock and all of their common stock warrants in
exchange for 164 million shares of common stock and 400,000 shares of
nonconvertible Series C preferred stock, Warburg Pincus and BCP Capital have
waived their rights to the liquidation preference on those earlier holdings,
including future accretion to which Warburg Pincus and BCP Capital would have
been entitled. As described more fully in Proxim`s public filings, Proxim`s
Series C preferred stock offers a significantly lower liquidation preference
than the Series A convertible preferred stock and Series B convertible preferred
stock, reducing the maximum liquidation preference to which Warburg Pincus and
BCP Capital are entitled by approximately $143 million. By receiving common
stock in exchange for their preferred holdings, Warburg Pincus and BCP Capital
have more closely aligned their interests with those of other common
      stockholders.

(wl)
