Lexar Media More than Doubles Annual Revenues to $412 Million Fourth Quarter Revenues of $177 Million Increase 80% Sequentially and 171% Year-over-Year; Fourth Quarter Earnings Total $0.21 per Diluted Share

      FREMONT, Calif., Jan 29, 2004 /PRNewswire-FirstCall via COMTEX/ -- Lexar Media,
Inc. (Nasdaq: LEXR), a leading manufacturer and marketer of high-performance
digital media and accessories, today reported record financial results for the
fourth quarter and year ended December 31, 2003.

Total fourth quarter revenues of $177.5 million increased 80% sequentially from
$98.7 million in the preceding quarter and 171% from $65.5 million in the same
period last year. Product revenues of $172.8 million increased 83% from $94.3
million in the preceding quarter and 183% from $61.2 million in the same period
last year. Gross margin for the quarter was 24%, compared to 27% in the
preceding quarter and in the fourth quarter of last year. Net income was $18.9
million, or $0.21 per diluted share, as compared to $9.7 million, or $0.12 per
diluted share, in the preceding quarter and $5.6 million, or $0.08 per diluted
share, in the same period last year.

Revenues for the year ended December 31, 2003, were $412.3 million, a 137%
increase from $174.0 million for the year ended December 31, 2002. Product
revenues of $394.6 million for 2003 increased 152% from $156.7 million for 2002.
Net income was $39.9 million, or $0.49 per diluted share in 2003, as compared to
$4.0 million, or $0.06 per diluted share in 2002.

"2003 proved to be a phenomenal year for Lexar as we more than doubled our
revenues on an annual basis and generated more revenue in the fourth quarter
than for all of 2002 combined," said Eric Stang, Lexar Media`s chairman, CEO and
president. "During the year, we successfully grew our storefronts and expanded
our product offerings beyond digital cameras into the rapidly growing USB flash
drive market. Our ability to meet our customer requirements despite a general
industry-wide flash shortage and unprecedented demand levels during the holiday
period is a testament to the strength of our fabless business model and our
valued partnership with key suppliers. We look forward to 2004 and beyond as we
expect our core technology assets to become increasingly integral to the
performance of feature rich digital devices."

      Corporate Highlights

      Lexar Media recently:

-- Began sampling Samsung Electronics` first 8Gb NAND flash memory device.

The new high-density chips, combined with Lexar`s next-generation

controller technology will enable Lexar to increase the performance and

storage capacity of its award winning memory cards and USB flash

      drives.

-- Added Paris Sud Electronique as a distributor of its digital media

products and accessories through a network of over 600 companies in

      France.

-- Commenced retail shipments in Japan of the Lexar Media miniSD(TM) card,

specifically designed for the mobile phone market, which is

increasingly adding storage intensive applications to phones including

digital cameras, digital video, MP3 players, PDAs, games and email.

-- Expanded its product line of JumpDrive USB flash drives with the

addition of Traveler, Music, Sport and Elite versions for a wide

variety of users and functionality; introduced JumpGear-MP3, a digital

audio player that utilizes and increases the functionality of JumpDrive

      Sport as its storage medium; introduced a 2GB version of JumpDrive Pro;

and, introduced the second generation JumpDrive Secure 2.0 offering

enhanced security software with file encryption and USB 2.0.

-- Introduced ImageRescue 2.0, an enhanced version of its popular image

recovery software now capable of recovering "lost" or deleted digital

images from any memory card, regardless of format or manufacturer.

-- Settled its patent dispute with SimpleTech, Inc. whereby both parties

agreed to a mutual dismissal of the lawsuit and SimpleTech has taken a

royalty-bearing license under Lexar`s patents for past and future sales

      of Memory Stick products.

-- Began offering two new compact, portable, high-speed FireWire and USB

2.0 CompactFlash readers offering faster downloading of digital images

with data transfer speeds up to 400Mb/s and 480Mb/s, respectively.

      Financial Outlook for 2004

In commenting on the Company`s outlook, Mr. Stang continued, "For the first
quarter of 2004, we are projecting revenues of at least $140 million and net
income of approximately $0.10 per diluted share. Our guidance for the year calls
for product revenue growth of 50% to 75% over 2003. We anticipate that product
gross margins for 2004 will be in our target range of 20% to 24%, with margins
improving in the second half of the year towards the higher-end of the target
range as additional industry capacity comes on-line and flash prices are
reduced. Operating expenses in 2004 are expected to increase in conjunction with
anticipated growth in sales volume. In addition, we expect to increase our
investment in research and development over 2003. Assuming a conservative
outlook for licensing revenues, net income for the year is projected to be
      approximately $0.60 per diluted share."

      Conference Call

The Company will host a conference call to discuss its financial results and
outlook today at 2:00 p.m. PST (5:00 p.m. EST). To participate on the live call,

materially from those anticipated by these forward-looking statements. These
risks include: our operating results and gross margins are difficult to predict
and may fluctuate significantly; if we are unable to obtain sufficient
quantities of flash memory in a timely manner and at competitive prices, we may
not be able to manufacture and deliver flash memory products to satisfy our
customers` requirements, compete effectively in the market or maintain our
targeted gross margins; as our licenses transition from fixed to variable, our
licensing revenues may decline or end and we may be unable to secure new license

results will be negatively impacted; future average selling prices may erode due
to excess industry capacity and extreme price competition; the solid-state

sell certain flash card formats or may not be able to obtain rights to
manufacture them at all; many of our retail customers and distributors have
price protection which could require us to make large payments if we reduce
prices; if we are unable to anticipate demand and pricing of our products or if
we are unable to effectively manage the distributor channels and relationships,
our operating results will be harmed; increased competition in the digital film
market may lead to a decrease in our revenues and market share; we must be able
to develop and introduce new products and services on a timely basis that are
accepted by our customers and consumers in order to compete effectively; if we
are unable to achieve or maintain our technology leadership position or to
obtain rights to develop and manufacture new form factors on acceptable terms,
our gross margins and revenues would likely decline significantly; and we are
involved in intellectual property litigation, and may become involved in
additional litigation, that could divert management`s time and attention, be

Sports Illustrated selected Lexar Media as its supplier of CompactFlash cards for a variety of reasons -- including the company`s ability to deliver storage media with fast data write speeds and professional-level reliability. To date, the photographers at Sports Illustrated have not "lost" a single image stored on a Lexar Media card.

"Our photographers are on the sidelines of the world`s most exciting sporting events and they never know which image will be next week`s cover shot," said Philip Jache, Deputy Picture Editor, Sports Illustrated. "Knowing that all critical action can be immediately captured and safely stored provides a high degree of confidence for both our photographers and editors. Our staff photographers use the industry`s most respected equipment and Lexar`s cards make that gear even better," he added.

"The photographers at Sports Illustrated are among the many professionals who have turned to Lexar Media for memory cards that write data quickly and capture images reliably," said John Omvik, Director of Professional Products Marketing, Lexar Media. "Teams win or lose games and matches based on split-second timing, but thanks to the technology in our cards -- and the skill of the professionals on the sidelines -- none of the action is missed," he added.

Lexar Media professional-level CompactFlash cards are currently available in a range of capacities, from 256MB to 4GB, and also incorporate the company`s Write Acceleration (WA) technology to enhance speed in certain cameras and Image Rescue(TM) software to recover seemingly lost or deleted images.

      Hallo,

Alles relativ.

"We would like to thank the members of the BIPP for voting Lexar`s Professional memory cards `Best in Class` for three years in a row," said Tessa Board, Managing Director, Lexar Media Europe.

Shares of Lexar Media, a provider of high-performance flash cards and connectivity products for the digital photography market, are currently trading at $14.21.

The analyst observes that Lexar Media’s retail presence has increased considerably in the last two years.

FREMONT, Calif., Apr 15, 2004 /PRNewswire-FirstCall via COMTEX/ -- Lexar Media, Inc. (LEXR) , a leading manufacturer and marketer of high-performance digital media and accessories, today reported financial results for the first quarter ended March 31, 2004.

Total first quarter revenues of $164.7 million increased 202% from $54.6 million in the same period last year and decreased 7% sequentially from $177.5 million in the preceding quarter. Product revenues of $161.1 million increased 220% from $50.3 million in the same period last year and decreased 7% from $172.8 million in the preceding quarter. Net income was $9.4 million, or $0.11 per diluted share, as compared to $4.3 million, or $0.06 per diluted share, in the same period last year and $18.9 million, or $0.21 per diluted share, in the fourth quarter of 2003.

"First quarter revenues more than tripled compared to the same period last year and we saw a smaller than anticipated sequential revenue decline from our seasonally high fourth quarter," said Eric Stang, Lexar Media`s chairman, CEO and president. "Our top and bottom line results surpassed our guidance and we reported positive operating cash flow during the quarter. Consumers worldwide continued to show strong demand for Lexar Media products and we expanded our retail presence to over 48,000 storefronts including several new high profile retailers. We announced numerous new product innovations during the quarter including our 80X speed rated products, 8GB CompactFlash(TM) card, and new applications of our JumpDrive(R) storage and entertainment products, and we began shipments of mini-SD cards worldwide."

      Corporate Highlights
      Lexar Media recently:

-- Introduced the 8GB Professional Series CompactFlash card, the highest
capacity memory card available in the world today that delivers a 40X
      speed-rating.
-- Introduced its family of miniSD cards, available worldwide in
capacities of 32MB, 64MB and 128MB, which are specifically designed for
portable, storage-intensive devices, such as camera phones, digital
still and video cameras, MP3 players and PDAs.
-- Introduced Lexar`s(R) Secure Digital (SD) memory cards speed-rated at
60X, which signifies a minimum sustained write speed capability of 9MB
per second, ideal for digital imaging applications requiring sustained
high speed, such as shooting digital video; and doubled its highest
capacity Secure Digital (SD) memory card to 1 gigabyte, which allows
users to capture more digital pictures, store more digital video, and
listen to MP3s for longer periods of time.
-- Doubled the minimum sustained write speed capability of its
Professional Series CompactFlash (CF) product line to 80X, or 12MB per
second, providing the fastest CompactFlash cards with guaranteed write
speeds available; and introduced a 32-bit CompactFlash (CF) CardBus
reader, designed to enable the quick and convenient transfer of digital
      images to notebook computers.
-- Updated its Memory Stick(TM) product line to include significantly
increased read speeds, available in capacities of 64MB, 128MB and
256MB, that have delivery speeds up to four times faster than current
      cards.
-- Commenced retail shipments in Europe of JumpDrive Sport and JumpDrive
Elite, the new members of Lexar`s market-leading family of USB flash
      drives.
-- Expanded its JumpDrive USB flash drives with the addition of Traveler
2.0, offering expanded product capabilities including support for
Microsoft Outlook; introduced JumpDrive Photo, a 40X speed-rated, large
capacity USB 2.0 flash drive designed to satisfy the needs of
professional photographers; and introduced the JumpDrive 2.0 Pro 80X
featuring a minimum sustained read and write speed capability equal to
      twelve megabytes per second.
-- Became the exclusive retail distributor of Photo Mechanic, the popular
image management software by Camera Bits used by professional
photographers to easily view, organize and process digital images on a
      computer.
-- Announced its ongoing relationship as the supplier of digital media
cards to the professional photographers at Sports Illustrated.
-- Received a `Gold` designation for Best CompactFlash in the Photo
Industry Awards 2004, as voted by the UK-based publication, The
Photographer Magazine, and its partner, the prestigious British
      Institute of Professional Photography.

      Financial Outlook

Mr. Stang continued, "After several quarters of relatively stable average selling prices, second quarter price declines will be sizeable. These declines are occurring a quarter sooner than anticipated given the current supply environment in the flash industry. Lexar Media`s fabless business model provides us optimum flexibility in dynamic business climates, and we are optimistic about the second half of the year since we expect flash prices will decline as supply increases from both existing suppliers and new entrants. While the second quarter is difficult to forecast as we work to realign supply costs, our outlook, at this time, is for revenues of at least $190 million and breakeven to slightly positive net income. Given continued robust demand in our markets and Lexar`s leadership position, we believe we will exceed our prior revenue growth projections for all of 2004. For 2004, we currently expect revenues to nearly double to at least $800 million, with EPS of approximately $0.60."

      Moin,

      Klasse Wachstumsraten, relativ geringe Marktkap.
