NASDAQ: Royal Olympia in non-compliance
05/02/2004
NASDAQ has found Royal Olympia Cruise Lines in non-compliance with two of the exchange’s marketplace rules. The company has 90 days to bring its minimum market value of publicly held shares to $5m for a minimum of 10 consecutive days and 180 days to bring its share price to the $1 level for 10 consecutive days in order to bring itself back into compliance.
Royal Olympia shares were up a penny at 42 cents in early afternoon trading today. Over the past 52 weeks, ROCLF has traded in the range of 19 cents to $3.
Shipowning subsidiaries of Royal Olympic Cruise Lines Inc. in Piraeus filed last week for protection from creditors in a Greek court. In December, the subsidiaries that own Olympia Explorer and Olympia Voyager were granted Chapter 11 protection in the US and later agreed to allow creditors to arrest the two vessels, paving the way for their auction. Olympia Countess, owned by a unit that did not seek bankruptcy protection, was arrested in Durban and sold at auction this week, with proceeds going to certain creditors.

Olympia Countess to new Greek owners
05/02/2004
Olympia Countess was sold to Maximus Navigation Ltd., a unit of Majestic International Cruises Inc., for US$9.7m ($9.65m plus $53,607.98 for the bunkers on board the vessel), according to Capt. Roy Martin of Admiralty Ship Sales in Durban.
Majestic, controlled by Athens shipping veteran Lou Kollakis, had bid $6.1m on Olympia Countess when the ship first went to auction on Jan. 29. That bid was rejected as the reserve price had been set at $12m. Admiralty Ship Sales’ Martin told Seatrade Insider that other ‘substantially higher’ offers had subsequently been received.
Olympia Countess is on charter for the Athens 2004 Olympics, and Seatrade Insider understands there is interest in operating the vessel in the Eastern Mediterranean.
The ship was owned by a unit of Royal Olympic Cruise Lines and had been sailing under charter for Starlight Cruises of South Africa when it was arrested on behalf of creditors on Jan. 8 in Durban.
Built at Denmark`s Burmeister & Wein as Cunard Countess in 1976, Olympia Countess measures 16,795gt with capacity for 884 passengers and 364 crew.

Royal Olympic Cruise Lines and Festival Cruises say most of their cruises for 2004 will go ahead. Both companies` had their ships impounded in the Caribbean as they were midway their itineraries. Royal Olympic has sold a ship to a Greek cruise line as part of a financial restructure. From an Australian travel trade publication owned by Reed Business Information:
February 17, 2004
quote:
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
...Ernie Skalsky, managing director of Royal Olympic Cruise Lines’ Sydney-based GSA, Creative Cruising, confirmed the cruise line would operate its “traditional fleet” as normal from March 5 after creditors also recently seized several of its ships.
Skalsky said the Olympia Countess had been sold to Majestic Cruises of Greece but would most likely be leased back to Royal Olympic as the Ocean Countess.
