HiTech Group announces turnaround in first half

Sydney - Friday - February 6: (RWE) - IT recruitment firm HiTech
Group Australia Ltd today posted a net profit of $76,024 for the six
months to December 31, compared with a loss of $235,000 for the first
half of last year.
Revenues were up 24 per cent to $2.51 million from $2.03
million.
Directors said HiTech had achieved a significant return to
profitability, quickly and as foreshadowed at the annual meeting.
"Our operating cash flow is positive and we are committed to
improving our performance in the future," they said.
The directors attributed the improved results in both income and
profitability primarily to the start of a turnaround in the ICT
recruitment sector.
"We intend to take full advantage of this upturn in the job
market," they said.
The outlook for the full year remained positive and promising,
as mentioned at the annual meeting.
The directors said the year`s results would depend entirely on
whether the initial growth shown in the ICT sector in the first half
continued and gained further momentum later this year.
"Therefore, we are optimistic of a profitable year ahead in
stark contrast to the loss-making previous year.
"Such an expected result should reflect positively on our
currently low share price.
"Historically, the second half is usually better than the first.
"The second half should be in line, if not better than, the
first half for FY2004," they said.
Shares in HiTech Group today rose 0.4c to 8c.
