NeoMedia`s PaperClick For Camera Phones Launched in Europe with Preview at 3GSM and Debut At CeBIT, World`s Biggest High-Tech Event

FORT MYERS, Fla., and CANNES, France--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb. 23, 2004--NeoMedia Technologies, Inc.(NASDAQ-OTCBB:NEOM) (OTC BB: NEOM) today began its launch of PaperClick for Camera Cell Phones(TM) technology at two major European trade events, the 3GSM World Congress in Cannes, to be followed by CeBIT in Hannover, Germany.

PaperClick, available first for the Nokia(R) 3650 and 3660 camera phones, is being previewed starting today through Thursday at the 3GSM World, a premier event for the wireless industry, where NeoMedia participates with Digital Rum (Hall 3, Stand H32).

In January, NeoMedia signed a Letter of Intent to enter a collaborative agreement to launch PaperClick(TM) with Digital Rum Ltd., a U.K.-based provider of mobile commerce solutions., who will work with Big Gig Strategies of London, which is spearheading the launch of Paperclick and PaperClick for Nokia(R) Camera Cell Phones(TM) in Europe.

Following 3GSM, PaperClick will be officially launched at CeBIT at Enterprise Florida , Inc., in the USA Office Automation, Imaging & Document Management Pavilion (Hall 1, Stand 3D-16). Held March 18-24, CeBIT is the world`s largest and most comprehensive, with more than 560,000 attendees and 6,000 exhibitors in 27 halls, including some 10 members of the world IT and business press.

`Debut on Great World Stages`

Patented PaperClick Technology

@ Aktienbraut : Mit Kurszielen bei OTC-Werten ist es immer so eine Sache, da man zu häufig Opfer von pump and dump wird und dann kann man einen stetigen Anstieg nicht schaffen.

Aber wenn die Aufmerksamkeit für NEOM weiter wächst und dann noch ein paar Nachrichten mit Substanz während der CeBIT kommen, könnten wir durchaus ein neues 52-W. Hoch erreichen. Auf jeden Fall liegen interessante Wochen mit viel Aufwärtspotential vor uns...

New camera phone software is mobile shopping guide

Comparison shopping online has become a consumer pastime. And people love taking pictures with camera phones. Charles Fritz wants to combine the activities.

His idea: Let people use their camera phones to scan bar codes and immediately get price or other product information wherever they are.

" It`s really like surfing the Web in a much faster manner," said Fritz, chairman of NeoMedia Technologies in Fort Myers (www.neom.com)

The company`s Paperclick software received attention at last week`s 3GSM World Congress trade show for mobile technology in Cannes, France. NeoMedia expects Paperclick to be available on cell phones this year, although it announced no timetable for a rollout and so far it would be available on only two Nokia phones.

Paperclick is not the first attempt to arm consumers with mobile shopping information. One of the spectacular flops of the tech boom was the CueCat scanner. The handheld device could scan bar codes in ads, catalogs or products. Connected to a PC, it then would take people to Web sites for more information.

Despite costing millions to develop and distribute, and with backing from well-known companies such as Radio Shack and the Belo Corp., the gadget failed to grab consumers` interest and received scathing reviews.

But the idea lives. NEC and the Nara Institute of Science and Technology in Japan recently announced a technology that uses camera phones as image scanners, though not for price comparison and other Internet-related activities.

NeoMedia, even though it was delisted from Nasdaq in 2002 and its stock has traded as low as a penny a share in the last year on the OTC Bulletin Board, keeps plugging away.

" I`m not skeptical of the technology," said Jack Gold, an analyst with the Meta Group research firm. " I`m just skeptical of the usage ... It`s not a very good experience surfing from your cell phone."

The Paperclick software has been around for years, Fritz says, but the difference this time is the popularity of the camera phone.

" It started and sputtered, started and sputtered," Fritz said of Paperclick. " It was missing the ubiquitous device."

He also says it goes beyond just price comparisons. For example, scan a bar code on a soft drink can and the company might send the consumer an electronic coupon. The consumer would have to pay the cell phone service for Web access.

Companies could track where clicks originate, and the bar codes could verify that the products are genuine, Fritz says. Eventually, it might be used to provide warranty information or how-to directions for using products.

" The trend that we are riding here is camera phones," Fritz said. " That trend is a train that just started."

Hey Günther irgendwie bekommt die Storry gar niemand mit außer uns.
Das ist gut so.
Wenn Neomedia weiter so steigt werden eh welche aufmerksam und kaufen dann zu höheren Preisen ein.
Ich denke das Ding wird die Schallmauer von 0,30 Euro bis Ende März durchbrechen.
Jetzt halteb mich vielleicht einige für blöd,
wegen 200% und so. Aber was ist das schon!!!
Wenn die Cebit beginnt und Neomedia angelt sich ein paar ertragreiche Aufträge, dann sind wir schneller über dem 1$ als wir schauen können.
Na dann hoffen wir mal dass es morgen so schön weiter geht!!!
Aber ich kanns mir nicht anders vorstellen bei diesem Volumen und den großen Blöcken nach handelsschluß!!!
