Legend`s controlling shareholder, Legend Group Holdings Co.,
will sell 85 million shares at HK$33.75 apiece in the listed
company and will use part of the money to subscribe to 50 million
new shares, the company said in a statement.
The offer price represents a 6.25 percent discount to
yesterday`s closing price of HK$36.
Between HK$700 million and HK$800 million of the net proceeds
raised would be for acquisition of Internet content providers,
while HK$400 million will pay for the development of Internet
access devices and HK$400 million for research and development and
marketing of its electronic commerce business.
Legend Group will have its stake in the company reduced to
57.2 percent from 60.7 percent after raising HK$1.18 billion from
selling 35 million shares.
Legend shares rose 10.77 percent to HK$36 yesterday. Goldman,
Sachs & Co. is arranging the sale.
Legend said yesterday that it would work with CyberWorks to
help the Asia`s third largest Internet investment company start a

Was denkt ihr?

Tag Leute! Legend ist die absolute MACHT in Asien.
pers.

CyberWorks, Legend Link Up To Push
Broadband In China
(2/29/2000) Richard Li Tzar-kai, chief executive of Pacific
Century CyberWorks (PCCW), is not one to rest on his
laurels. He also seems to be a big fan of multitasking.
At the same time PCCW was bidding to win control of Hong
Kong Telecom, the Internet startup was also in negotiations
with Legend, China’s largest computer companies, to launch
broadband Internet services in China, according to
Bloomberg News.
Negotiations are apparently over and the two companies have
decided to join forces in the broadband effort. A press
conference was originally scheduled for Monday, but has
been postponed, the Bloomberg report said.
