Zitat von auriga: NEW YORK (TheStreet) -- Shares of Apple (AAPL - Get Report) are down 0.24% to $128.23 in early market trading Thursday, after the company said late Wednesday that it is pushing back the start of production for its larger 12.9-inch iPad, according to Bloomberg.

Now, Apple is saying production is more likely to begin in September, due to supply issues with the larger display panels.

The U.S. tech giant is also playing around with new designs and features for the enterprise market, the Wall Street Journal reports.

Apple is considering adding USB ports and adopting the USB 3.0 technology, which is a faster version that can transfer data up to 10 times faster then current USB ports, according to the Journal.

Also, analysts at Deutsche Bank issued a note to investors this morning saying the Apple Watch has limited growth potential for Apple over the next few years.

Deutsche said the device has "limited ability to move the needle." The firm maintained its "hold" rating on Apple with a $110 price target.

Additionally, Apple is in talks with Time Warner-owned (TWX) HBO network to be a launch partner for the HBO Now video streaming service, according to Reuters.

The streaming service is expected to cost $15 a month, and is set to launch next month as HBO attempts to hold onto or attract subscribers who are ditching cable television subscriptions, Reuters added.

In addition to Apple, HBO is also in talks with competing technology company Google (GOOGL).

Apple (AAPL) Stock Lower Today Following Delay of Larger iPad Production

Apple Suppliers Told to Produce Larger-Screen iPad in Second Half
Production of bigger tablet originally planned for first quarter; USB ports considered

March 4, 2015 11:48 p.m. ET
Apple Inc. suppliers have been told to start production of a larger-screen iPad in the second half of this year as the U.S. tech giant wrestles with new designs and features for the enterprise market, people familiar with the matter say.

The Cupertino, Calif., company had originally told suppliers that it wanted to start mass production of the 12.9-inch iPad in the first quarter of 2015, the people said.

Apple is now considering adding USB ports and adopting so-called USB 3.0 technology, a much faster version that promises to transfer data up to 10 times as rapidly as current USB ports, one of the people said. It is especially useful when users are transferring large amounts of data, such as backing up computers to USB-connected hard disks. Currently, Apple’s 9.7-inch iPad and 7.9-inch iPad Mini don’t come with a USB port.

“Apple has continued to rework some of the features of the larger iPad. It is now considering the faster technology for data synchronization between the larger iPad and other computing devices,” said the person. “Apple is also working on technology to speed up the iPad charging time, but it remains uncertain if the final design will have these new features.”

The company has also been considering adding ports to connect to a keyboard and mouse, the people said.

Apple, which works with suppliers to test new technology and designs all the time, could opt not to proceed with some of the features when it starts mass producing the device later.

Apple declined to comment.

“I am optimistic that this [larger-screen iPad] will be a positive driver [for Apple] to break into the enterprise market, where much of the tablet growth will come from in the coming years,” said Peter King , analyst at Strategy Analytics.

Apple’s plan for a larger-screen iPad comes as its tablet sales continue to decline. The company said in January it sold 21.4 million iPads in the three months ended Dec. 27, down 18% from a year earlier. Strong sales of Apple’s larger-screen iPhones has been cannibalizing its iPad sales, analysts say.

The company’s share of the global tablet market slipped to 28.1% in the fourth quarter from 33.1% a year earlier, according to research firm IDC. World-wide tablet shipments also fell for the first time in the fourth quarter as consumers refrain from upgrading due to a lack of hardware innovation.

However, the rise of Apple’s mobile devices in the workplace provides opportunities for the company. It has started courting the enterprise market though its partnership with International Business Machines Corp. which has agreed to sell iPhones and iPads to its corporate clients.

In December, Apple and IBM announced the first wave of made-for-business applications targeting banking, retail, telecommunications and governments.

Separately, Apple also plans to broaden its product offering with a new 12-inch MacBook Air, people familiar with the matter said.

Earlier this year, Apple’s suppliers started mass production of a 12-inch MacBook Air, featuring a higher resolution display, they said.

The current MacBook Air comes in two different sizes: 11-inch and 13-inch models.

While suppliers are gearing up to ship the new 12-inch MacBook Air in large quantities in the second quarter, Apple’s launch schedule remains unclear, the people said.

RBC Capital Markets hat die Meldung auch schon aufgegriffen.

Apple Inc. AAPL 1.8% was expected to launch its 12.9-inch iPad in the first quarter of 2015. However, recent reports have emerged highlighting that the production of the new device will be delayed to the second half of the year.

RBC Capital Markets analyst Amit Daryanani was on CNBC to discuss how this production delay will impact Apple.

Panel Is The Problem

"From our understanding, the delay is really around the panel supplies. Seems like it's extremely difficult to manufacture panels of the 12.9, 13-inch scale," Daryanani said. "That seems to be the manufacturing centric delay that these guys are having right now."

He continued, "As a reminder, this product was supposed to be out back in November actually when the iPads were refreshed and at that point they had some delay in the manufacturing side as well. So, it seems like a continuation of those issues. We think it's primarily around panels that's leading to the delay right now."

Won't Hurt The Stock

Daryanani was asked how much this delay is going to hurt Apple. He replied, "At least for the next couple of quarters, probably next few years as goes iPhone so goes Apple's stock. So, I don't think this really hurts Apple that much as a stock. Eventually you do need a larger iPad to jumpstart or revive the iPad product line for them."

"So, in a way I would argue this is almost a better thing because iPhone still has a lot of momentum, a lot of steam ahead of it. As that starts to ease up a little bit towards the end of this year, towards the back end of this year, if you may, it would be optimal for the iPad to come out at that point," Daryanani concluded.

Horst Szentiks (Red Shoes)

Mein nächstes unteres Etappenziel liegt bei ca. 122,11 Dollar.
