      Hi Techno-Freaks,

      Homepage: http://www.uniquesys.com/

Gehandelt wird USB in Canada am "Neuen Markt". UBS.CDNX
      bzw. V. UBS.

      http://www.stockhouse.ca/comp_info.asp?symbol=UBS&table=list

      http://www.hns.com

Revenue for the quarter was a record for the Company at $3,950,481, compared to $43,880 in 1998. The Company had net earnings for the period of $999,923 or $.0143 income per share, compared to a net loss of $2,177,845 or $.0414 loss per common share. The record results can be directly attributed to the commercialization of the Company’s Digital Audio Broadcast systems, both Eureka based and SDARS, and the penetration of the US marketplace.

      Ja da schau her :

Gut Ding will Weile haben. Übrigens in Kanada wieder etwas zurück, auf 9,55 CAD

      Bis bald

Microwave Power Devices, Inc. Awarded a $13.3 Million Contract With UBS
HAUPPAUGE, N.Y., March 23 /PRNewswire/ -- Microwave Power Devices, Inc. (Nasdaq: MPDI - news) today announced that it has been awarded a $13.3 million contract from Unique Broadband Systems, Inc. (CDNX: UBS - news) for amplifiers to be used in a terrestrial repeater system.

UBS was recently awarded a contract from Hughes Network Systems` (HNS) Subscriber Products Division, located in San Diego, California, for the design, development and manufacture of terrestrial repeater network equipment, which will incorporate MPD`s amplifiers. HNS will deliver completed terrestrial systems to XM Satellite Radio (Nasdaq: XMSR - news). Targeted for commercial availability in the first half of 2001, XM Radio is developing a new band of radio service, which will feature up to 100 channels of digital-quality music, news, sports, talk and children`s programming. The XM Radio service will be uplinked to its two powerful satellites and transmitted directly to vehicle, home and portable radios coast to coast for a monthly subscription fee. The terrestrial repeaters are designed to supplement the satellite signals in dense urban markets.

Al Weber, Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer of MPD commented, ``Entering the emerging market for satellite digital audio radio services is an exciting step for us as it broadens the Company`s participation in the wireless marketplace. Production is scheduled to begin in mid-2000, however, we do not expect this contract to change our current forecast for fiscal year 2000.``

UBS Growth Continues in the Third Quarter

TORONTO, April 27 /CNW-PRN/ - Unique Broadband Systems, Inc. (CDNX: UBS - news) announced today that the Company is continuing on its path for another strong year with earnings for the nine months ended February 29, 2000 in the amount of $516,746, as compared to a loss of $644,905 for the same period last year.

In early 2000, the Company announced the award of two major contracts with Hughes Network Systems and Hong Kong Cable TV. These contracts will provide the Company with approximately $70 million of revenue during its next fiscal year ending May 31, 2001.

Alex Dolgonos, President and CEO, said ``These contracts are significant, not only in their monetary value to the Company, but more importantly, as further testaments to the Company`s industry-leading technology and expertise. Both agreements put UBS at the forefront of the technology of the future.``

UBS remains committed to its research and development efforts, which do not always result in immediate sales. It is expected that the benefits of the current research and development programmes will likely not affect the Company`s income until the end of the fiscal year, 2001.

The Company has completed the move to its new state-of-the-art facility, allowing for its further controlled expansion. With the addition of two new Vice Presidents, Jeff Friedman and Mohammed Benvidi, the Company has added depth, experience and expertise to its already strong management team.

Management remains very optimistic about the many wireless broadband opportunities ahead. Continuing with a strong 3rd quarter sales performance, fiscal 2000 will prove to be another strong year in the evolution of the Company.

      1. The financial results and balance sheet for the prior period have been
restated to properly reflect investment tax credits due on research and
      development activities.

      2. During the third quarter the company was awarded a contract from
Hughes Network Systems. The costs incurred in the first two quarters had
been written off to research and development expenses. So as to achieve a
better matching of costs and revenues, the Company has adopted a policy
whereby development costs specifically identifiable with certain
contracts are capitalized to the balance sheet until such time that the
revenue on these specific contracts is recognized.

Unique Broadband Systems Ships Terrestrial Repeater Prototypes To Hughes Network Systems
Advanced interference-free proprietary COFDM-based technology targets emerging digital radio market
CONCORD, ON, June 27 /CNW/ - Unique Broadband Systems, Inc. (CDNX: UBS - news), recognized worldwide as a leader in the design, development and manufacture of broadband wireless solutions, announced today that it has successfully shipped and installed eight prototypes of its terrestrial repeater network equipment for Hughes Network Systems` Subscriber Products Division ("HNS"). The terrestrial repeaters, comprised of UBS` proprietary COFDM-based technology, are geared for use in the emerging digital radio market.
The two companies signed a contract in February for the design, development and manufacture of terrestrial repeater equipment. Under the terms of the contract, UBS is supplying sub-assemblies to HNS for use in combination with HNS manufactured sub-assemblies to manufacture terrestrial repeaters. The completed systems will be shipped to HNS customers in the digital radio market.

UBS terrestrial repeaters use COFDM technology, a superior modulation technique for the delivery of high-speed broadband services such as audio, video and data. The modulation technique allows a moving vehicle to receive high-quality signals, such as digital radio, at speeds in excess of 100 km/hour.

"Our partnership with HNS gives UBS the opportunity to work with an industry leader," said Alex Dolgonos, president and CEO of UBS. "Digital radio is an exciting emerging market segment, and we are committed to establishing a leadership role."

James Gandolfi, Vice-President of HNS, said: "UBS has clearly demonstrated that it has the technical expertise and the technology needed in the digital radio market. Together we are introducing the technology to the market and are confident of its success going forward."

Unique Broadband Systems Expands Russian Market Position With Additional Wireless Cable Installations
MMDS systems to provide Russian customers with high-speed Internet and data transmission capabilities
CONCORD, ON, June 29 /CNW/ - Unique Broadband Systems, Inc. (CDNX: UBS - news), recognized worldwide as a leader in the design, development and manufacture of broadband wireless solutions, announced today that it has successfully installed five additional MMDS transmission systems in the following cities in Russia: Yakutsk, Moldova, Ryazan, Vladisvostok and Langhepas. All equipment is digital ready and upgradeable to permit bi-directional wireless Internet access.
With these installations, UBS has now shipped and installed seven MMDS systems in Russia since April 1999. In early 1999, the company signed contracts to provide MMDS systems to Kishinev, the capital city of Moldavia, and to KhazaTelecom for the development of a national digital MMDS system for the transmission of high-speed Internet and data.

Since establishing its presence in 1999, UBS has installed approximately one-third of all MMDS systems in Russia. The seven systems currently installed in Russian cities are located in seven separate regions. UBS executives are of the view that each region has the potential to accommodate up to 20 systems. In addition, the surrounding countries also carry the potential for sales of such systems.

"MMDS technology is experiencing tremendous growth in developing countries and in countries without an established cable infrastructure, as is the case with Russia and the surrounding countries," said Alex Dolgonos, President and CEO of UBS. "It is a cost-effective method of delivering high- speed voice, video and data to consumers. Our digital and analogue MMDS solution will allow service providers to offer high-speed transmission of voice, video and data to their customers. In terms of the durability of our system to operate in extreme weather conditions, one need look no further than the 50 watt transmission system that we shipped to the city of Yakutsk in Northern Russia. This system is an outdoor unit (complete with heating units to ensure reliability of performance in sub-zero temperatures) that has been specifically designed for the harsh climate in that area."

For those businesses that provide telecommunications equipment and/or solutions, the biggest hurdle to doing business in Russia is obtaining the approval of the State Committee of the Russian Federation for Telecommunications and Informatics, which can take up to two years in many cases. Having gone through the approval process, which included lab testing and field trials on UBS` entire line of MMDS products, UBS obtained this approval in 1999.

The ability to sell in Russia, together with the completed installation of seven systems in various regions, will enhance UBS` ability to demonstrate the functionality, quality and reliability of its equipment to other potential customers in the surrounding area. As a result, UBS is expanding its sales and engineering team in Russia in order to take advantage of additional opportunities to generate revenue from this corner of the globe.

Unique Broadband Systems Expands Product Line With Fibre Optic Step Attenuator

Low Cost, High Volume Fibre Optic Product Design Finalized

CONCORD, ON, July 4 /CNW/ - Unique Broadband Systems, Inc. (CDNX: UBS - news), recognized worldwide as a leader in the design, development and manufacture of broadband wireless solutions, announced today that it has finalized the design and manufacturing process of its low cost, fibre optic step attenuator for 1300 and 1500 nanometre wavelengths. The attenuators, which over the last two years have been sold by UBS in large quantities to major Canadian cable companies for permanent installations and trials, have demonstrated excellent results in terms of their stability, reliability and ease of use. By designing industry-leading technology such as the fibre optic step attenuator, UBS is positioning itself to take advantage of significant growth within the optical-based networking market, estimated by the Aberdeen Group to reach US$17.7 billion by 2003. The deployment of fibre optic cable in telecommunications infrastructure has greatly increased in recent years as the cost of cable has decreased. At the same time, technology for fibre optic infrastructure has permitted increases in volume and signal quality.
"These attenuators are low cost, high volume products that are used in all fibre optic networks," said Alex Dolgonos, President and CEO of UBS. "The finalization of the design and manufacturing process, which complements our existing wireless solutions, will permit UBS to target yet another market within the telecommunications industry."

UBS` experience, together with existing relationships with major Canadian, U.S. and Asian cable companies, will allow the company to capitalize on this rapidly expanding market. Management believes that this product has the potential to generate significant revenue in the future.

The UBS engineering team, comprising over 60 engineers, once again has displayed a high level of technical knowledge and innovation. The team`s ability to anticipate trends in the broadband and telecommunications industry has enabled UBS to experience tremendous growth over the past few years, and will continue to remain the driving force in the company`s pursuit of opportunities for engineered solutions.

      SOURCE: Unique Broadband Systems, Inc.
Unique Broadband Systems Receives Order from Look Communications Inc.
Order for Headend Equipment to Permit Bi-Directional Wireless High-Speed Internet
CONCORD, ON, July 13 /CNW-PRN/ - Unique Broadband Systems, Inc. (CDNX: UBS - news), recognized worldwide as a leader in the design, development and manufacture of broadband wireless solutions, announced today that it has received an initial order from Look Communications Inc., Canada`s leading wireless Internet and MMDS (wireless cable) provider, to provide headend equipment to permit bi- directional wireless high-speed Internet services. Look Communications intends to deploy this equipment at all of its locations across Canada.

``This order from Look Communications is further evidence of UBS` dedication to high-speed wireless Internet products,`` said Alex Dolgonos, President and CEO of UBS. ``The headend equipment, which is standard equipment developed by UBS, can be used by other wireless cable providers, Internet service providers and telecom providers. We just returned from participating in the WCA 2000 trade show in New Orleans, where we had discussions with a number of major US and international telecommunications and wireless providers. All these companies showed interest in this product, as well as others that we have designed and developed.``

Look Communications recently announced that it had secured several hundred million dollars of long-term financing to be used, in part, for its wireless Internet project with Microcell Telecommunications.

``In view of this recent financing, the rollout of this project, which is the first of its kind for Look, and the deployment of our equipment will no doubt occur at a much faster rate,`` said Stephen Rosen, CFO of UBS. ``The order that we have just received is only the first of many orders from Look for this project. We anticipate significant revenue to be generated from this product over the life of this project.``

Unique Broadband Systems to Further Strengthen Board of Directors Pending the Election of Two New Members
Patrick Lavelle and Edward Neufeld to stand for election to company`s Board of Directors
CONCORD, ON, July 19 /CNW-PRN/ - Unique Broadband Systems, Inc. (CDNX: UBS - news), recognized worldwide as a leader in the design, development and manufacture of broadband wireless solutions, announced today that Patrick Lavelle and Edward Neufeld have agreed to stand for election to the company`s Board of Directors at its next shareholders` meeting to be held on November 9, 2000.

Patrick Lavelle, Chairman of the Export Development Corporation (EDC), brings to the UBS Board of Directors an extensive background in both the public and private sectors. Mr. Lavelle has served as Chairman of the Business Development Bank of Canada; Chairman and CEO of the Canadian Council for Aboriginal Business; and Vice-President of Corporate Development for Magna International Inc. Mr. Lavelle was also Deputy Minister of Industry, Trade and Technology for the Province of Ontario, and served as President of the Automotive Parts Manufacturers` Association of Canada.

Mr. Lavelle, who currently heads his own strategic management consulting firm, serves on a number of corporate boards in both the United States and Canada, including TSE-listed companies: Slater Steel Inc., Geac Computer Corporation Ltd. and others.

Edward Neufeld has a doctorate in economics from the London School of Economics and Political Science. He was formerly the Executive Vice-President and Chief Economist of the Royal Bank of Canada and prior to that, Assistant Deputy Minister of Finance in Ottawa. His past board memberships include Canadian National Railway, Goldlist Properties and National Life. He is a member of the Policy Committee of the C.D.Howe Institute, the National Statistics Council and the board of the Atlantic Council of Canada.

``We are extremely pleased that both Mr. Lavelle and Mr. Neufeld have agreed to stand for election to our Board of Directors,`` said Alex Dolgonos, President and CEO of UBS. ``The impact that they will have on our company will be significant. Their ability to contribute, not only in terms of advising management and leveraging their vast network of business and government contacts, but in protecting the interests of all of our stakeholders, are just some of the benefits that they will bring to UBS, its management and shareholders.``

Earlier this year, UBS announced that John Turner, former Prime Minister of Canada and now a partner in the Toronto office of the law firm Miller Thomson LLP, has also agreed to stand for election to its Board of Directors. Pending the election of Mr. Turner, Mr. Lavelle and Mr. Neufeld, the UBS Board is expected to consist of a total of seven directors, five of whom will be independent of management.

In a related announcement, UBS has retained Richard Leblanc to provide consulting services in the area of corporate governance. Mr. Leblanc, who is a lawyer, certified management consultant, and experienced educator, is a leading specialist with respect to boards of directors and effective organizational governance and compliance in Canada. In accordance with Mr. Leblanc`s mandate, he has just recently provided up-to-date, leading-edge corporate governance guidelines to the UBS Board of Directors.

``The election of our three new Board members, in conjunction with the corporate governance guidelines provided by Mr. Leblanc, will clearly place UBS at the forefront in terms of public company compliance with the corporate governance guidelines recommended by securities commission administrators and stock exchanges in Canada,`` said Stephen Rosen, Vice-President and CFO of UBS. ``UBS is committed to the implementation of good corporate governance practices designed for the protection of all persons with a vested interest in the success of UBS.``

Unique Broadband Systems Receives Initial Purchase Order on 18 GHz Wireless Cable Television System in Hong Kong
UBS transmission system to help provide wireless cable services for customers of Hong Kong Cable
TORONTO, July 25 /CNW-PRN/ - Unique Broadband Systems, Inc. (CDNX: UBS - news), recognized worldwide as a leader in the design, development and manufacture of broadband wireless solutions, announced today that it has received an initial US$2.877 million purchase order to supply a wireless cable television (CATV) transmission system to Hong Kong Cable Television Ltd. The purchase order follows in-depth field testing by Hong Kong Cable on UBS` prototype system, delivered and installed in June of this year.

Hong Kong Cable, the only wireless distributor and fibre optic system provider in the territory, signed a contract with UBS in February 2000. Under the contract, subject to satisfactory results following testing, UBS was to provide Hong Kong Cable with a complete 18 GHz point-to-multipoint CATV distribution system with transmitters, repeaters, transmit antennas, LNBs and feedhorns.

``The purchase order from Hong Kong Cable is further evidence of our capabilities and competence in the area of wireless transmission equipment,`` said Alex Dolgonos, President and CEO of UBS. ``The fact that this purchase order follows such extensive field testing and trials of our wireless CATV system prototype by Hong Kong Cable clearly demonstrates the quality of our broadband wireless technology.``

The purchase order serves as an important milestone in the relationship formed between UBS and Hong Kong Cable, providing a vote of confidence in UBS` ability to deliver best-available technology on time and on budget. The success of this project has the potential of creating a number of spin-off opportunities in the region as last-mile issues make deployment of wired cable systems cost-prohibitive.

      SOURCE: Unique Broadband Systems, Inc.
Unique Broadband Systems Signs Multi-Year Supply Contract with Bell Canada to Deliver High-Speed Wireless Internet Access
CONCORD, ON, Aug. 3 /CNW-PRN/ - Unique Broadband Systems, Inc. (CDNX: UBS - news), recognized worldwide as a leader in the design, development and manufacture of broadband wireless solutions, announced today that it has signed a multi-year supply contract with Bell Canada to provide broadband wireless equipment for use in the delivery of high-speed wireless Internet access to institutional customers.

Under the contract, which has a projected value of $3.9 million, UBS will supply Bell Canada with wireless transport equipment, as well as training and maintenance services.

The new contract extends the relationship between the two companies. Last year, UBS delivered wireless transport and access equipment to Bell Canada that helps provide a link to rural customer sites that were beyond the reach of high-speed wireline access. UBS supplied bi-directional wireless transport equipment, which links various Bell point-to-multipoint radio sites providing wireless broadband data access. This network provides high-speed wireless access for up to 73 schools in rural areas of Western Ontario.

``We were very pleased with the broadband wireless technology UBS supplied for our project with the rural schools last year,`` said Clayton Mangione, Director of Technology Development, Bell Canada. ``UBS has shown it can deliver the technology and the expertise that we need for this wireless Internet project. The combination of our wireline services and UBS` broadband wireless solution will enable us to deliver high quality high-speed wireless access to our customers.``

``This new contract with Bell Canada is a strong endorsement and further reinforces our leadership in the design and manufacture of broadband wireless equipment,`` said Alex Dolgonos, president and CEO of UBS. ``After the successful deployment of our systems last year, we were awarded the contract after Bell Canada issued an RFQ for additional equipment to deliver high-speed wireless Internet access to selected customers in Ontario. This will further showcase to the rest of the country and on a global basis the capabilities of our broadband wireless solutions. Moving forward, we will continue with our strategy of fostering strong relationships with influential telecommunications companies, such as Bell Canada, which are key to our ongoing growth in the broadband wireless market.``

Unique Broadband Systems Announces Improved Earnings for Fiscal 2000
Significant Growth in Both Revenue & Earnings for Fiscal 2001 Expected From Major Contracts Announced in Fiscal 2000
CONCORD, ON, Aug. 22 /CNW-PRN/ - Unique Broadband Systems, Inc. (CDNX: UBS - news), recognized worldwide as a leader in the design, development and manufacture of broadband wireless solutions, today reported its consolidated results for its fiscal year ended May 31, 2000. For the year, UBS had net earnings of $249,951 or $0.003 per common share. Excluding losses relating to the company`s two satellite offices (as discussed below), the company`s earnings were $495,951, which represents an increase of 514% over 1999. These results compare with earnings of $80,755 or $0.001 per common share for the year ended May 31, 1999. Consolidated sales for fiscal 2000 ($9.208 million) were slightly less than those in fiscal 1999 ($9.268 million). However, improved gross margins and a tighter control on selling and administrative expenses have resulted in higher earnings over fiscal 1999.

UBS had cash on hand in the amount of $36.5 million as at May 31, 2000 compared to $1.6 million as at May 31, 1999. This increase is due to the private placement in March 2000, which yielded net proceeds of $38 million. Capital additions in fiscal 2000 totaled approximately $2 million, the bulk of which related to leasehold improvements at the company`s new state-of-the-art R&D and manufacturing facility. This facility provides UBS with increased manufacturing and production/assembly capacity, as well as the space necessary to accommodate its larger workforce, both of which are required to pursue top line sales growth.

Research and development expenses declined in fiscal 2000 from fiscal 1999. Although research and development activities actually increased in fiscal 2000, as compared to fiscal 1999, the expenses relating to such activities have been deferred to fiscal 2001 in order that they be matched against the specific contracts to which they relate, which will be completed in fiscal 2001.

Selling and administrative expenses increased over fiscal 1999 as a result, in part, of the investment by UBS in additional personnel, a new facility and the expansion of its product lines. This investment by the company was necessary in order to execute on its two large contracts with Hughes Network Systems and Hong Kong Cable T.V., as well as to continue to pursue other growth initiatives. In addition, such expenses also include $49,000 in connection with the closing of the company`s Montreal operations and a loss of $197,000 arising from the company`s operations in Russia. The latter loss is the result of marketing and start-up costs associated with the opening of this office. Based on the success of the Russian operations to date, management anticipates that the Company`s operations in Russia will be cash flow positive and will generate net earnings for UBS, which will add to its bottom line by the end of fiscal 2002.

Sales under the contracts with Hughes Network Systems and Hong Kong Cable, which were both awarded in fiscal 2000, as well as with Bell Canada, which was awarded in the current fiscal year, are expected to materialize in the second quarter of the current (fiscal 2001) year and continue for the balance of the year. During fiscal 2000 and in the first quarter of the current fiscal year, a small amount of revenue from both Hughes and Hong Kong Cable was realized in the form of design fees relating to the prototypes UBS shipped in the first quarter of fiscal 2001.

``The results of operations for the 2000 fiscal year were in line with the expectations of management,`` stated Stephen J. Rosen, CFO of UBS. `` Based on management`s expectation of the commencement and ramp-up of production under the existing contracts in this fiscal quarter, revenues for the second quarter and for the remainder of fiscal 2001 should increase. This should result in significant growth to the bottom line as well.``

With respect to its contract with Hughes, UBS has now received purchase orders totaling in excess of $70 million. Fiscal 2000 revenue reflects approximately $5 million of these orders.

``Given that deliveries under the balance of these purchase orders are expected to be made in the current fiscal year, we expect that they should add approximately $65 million to revenue in fiscal 2001,`` added Rosen.

Unique Broadband to Acquire European Leader in Digital Transmission Technology
Acquisition Adds Leading Edge OFDM-based Digital Video Broadcast Terrestrial Technology
CONCORD, ON, Sept. 5 /PRNewswire/ - Unique Broadband Systems, Inc. (CDNX: UBS - news), recognized worldwide as a leader in the design, development and manufacture of broadband wireless solutions, today announced the signing of a definitive agreement to acquire ProTelevision Technologies A/S for an estimated US$6.75 million, payable US$3 million in cash and by the issuance of 1,362,750 common shares. ProTelevision, a privately held company based in Brondby, Denmark, is a pioneer and leading provider of studio and transmission products to the television and broadcast transmission industries.

The acquisition of ProTelevision is a key step in advancing UBS` strategic initiative to provide complete end-to-end wireless solutions for the entire broadcast transmission market. As the leader in high-speed digital audio broadcast transmission technology, UBS, with this acquisition, now gains leading edge high-speed digital video broadcast transmission technology. Both the digital audio and digital video technologies are based on OFDM modulation (orthogonal frequency division multiplexing). OFDM modulation, in which UBS is an industry leader, enables high-speed broadband mobile transmission of audio, data, video and other forms of information and multimedia to moving vehicles at speeds in excess of 100 km/hour.

ProTelevision comprises two divisions spun off from Philips Electronics N.V. in 1998. It distributes its products globally through its own direct sales force, the Internet and through distribution partners in many countries worldwide, including several recently signed distributors in key markets. The company has 50 employees and manufactures and distributes products that are designed and developed in-house by a team of over 20 experienced engineers. In its most recently completed fiscal year, which ended December 31, 1999, ProTelevision had revenue of US$10.75 million (at current exchange rates).

The studio division of ProTelevision has over 30 years of experience in the design and development of testing, monitoring and operating equipment for studio and post-production in the television industry. In the late 1960`s, ProTelevision produced the first fully electronic colour test pattern, known as the ``Philips Pattern``, which was used by television stations the world over in their broadcasting outside of normal program hours.

The transmission division of ProTelevision designs and develops modulation, demodulation and monitoring equipment using OFDM technology for the terrestrial broadcast transmission market.

Digital TV is gaining market acceptance, as well as market share. In its two target markets, ProTelevision is proactively focused on several high potential digital applications involving high-speed, broadband transmission.

ProTelevision, which has offices in the US, Singapore, the UK, France, Italy, Germany and Denmark, will provide UBS with a global distribution network for its proprietary products, while at the same time providing UBS with access to ProTelevision`s impressive list of international customers.

``The acquisition of ProTelevision represents an important step in our international expansion strategy,`` said Alex Dolgonos, President and CEO of UBS. ``With this acquisition, we now have a vehicle through which we can distribute our own products in Europe and elsewhere around the world. In addition, we not only gain revenue growth from a separate, but complementary product portfolio, but we gain leading edge technologies that, when combined with our own innovative technology, should ensure that we remain at the forefront of the mobile high-speed wireless market.``

The digital video broadcast terrestrial technology that UBS is acquiring through its purchase of ProTelevision supplements its own proprietary digital audio broadcast technology and will allow the company to offer high-speed broadband wireless solutions involving all areas of broadcast transmission based on OFDM technology.

``Together with our existing array of products, this acquisition provides UBS with a powerful platform from which to address the rapidly growing broadcast marketplace,`` added Dolgonos.

ProTelevision will become a wholly owned subsidiary of UBS, and will operate as its European center of excellence for high-speed broadband wireless technologies. With the acquisition, UBS gains several patent applications, proprietary technology in the area of high-speed broadband transmission of digital video broadcasting, research programs, a high-caliber engineering team focused on mobile high-speed broadband technology, a global distribution channel, a direct sales force and a head office facility consisting of administrative offices and an ISO 9001 certified manufacturing plant in Brondby, Denmark.

``The synergies and growth potential resulting from this acquisition are tremendous,`` said Stephen Rosen, CFO of UBS. ``The combined capabilities and resources of both organizations allow us to provide a complete end-to-end system solution to the digital broadcast marketplace. The benefits flowing to UBS include a significantly fortified R&D staff and increased technical expertise enabling the enhancement of our existing products and expediting the development of new products and technologies. Under the leadership of John Leon (who recently joined UBS after 15 years with Nortel Networks), our own sales team will be able to leverage ProTelevision`s existing and planned proprietary products and its sales and distribution channel to grow our business on a global basis.``

The transaction, which has been approved by the board of directors of UBS and is expected to close later this month, is subject to customary closing conditions, including the receipt of all requisite regulatory approvals.

UBS Subsidiary Awarded OFDM Contract in Singapore
ProTelevision`s COFDM Modulation Solution Selected for Sophisticated Mobile Reception Project for 2000 Singapore buses
CONCORD, ON, Sept. 21 /PRNewswire/ - Unique Broadband Systems, Inc. (CDNX: UBS - news), a leader in high-speed wireless transmission solutions, today announced that ProTelevision Technologies A/S based in Brondby, Denmark (PTV), a wholly-owned subsidiary of UBS, has received a purchase order for approximately $600,000 to supply a modulation solution to Television Corporation of Singapore and its wholly owned subsidiary, TVMOBILE (TCS). The high-speed wireless COFDM modulator to be provided by PTV will enable passengers on buses to view television and listen to radio while on the bus.

``We are very pleased with this order, which once again demonstrates PTV`s leadership in the design and manufacture of high-speed wireless equipment based on COFDM technology and our importance as a player in the growing digital video broadcast (DVB-T) marketplace,`` said Jacob Perch Nielsen, Managing Director of PTV. ``Furthermore, the selection of our COFDM modulator represents a strong endorsement of the future potential of terrestrial digital video broadcast.``

TCS, which will deploy the world`s first mobile digital terrestrial-based T.V. service, intends to begin broadcasting television programming to Singapore buses by mid-February, 2001.

``To be part of the world`s first system and be in on the ground floor certainly presents a wonderful opportunity in what should be an exploding growth area going forward,`` added Neilson. ``Given the number of buses, trains, cars, trucks, minivans and other vehicles world-wide, PTV, with its high-speed wireless COFDM modulation solution is well positioned to take advantage of this growth area.``

PTV was selected as the supplier of choice following more than a year of extensive field-testing and reception trials on buses. Although other suppliers also bid on this contract and carried out field-testing and trials, it was PTV`s solution and equipment that was ultimately chosen based on results achieved during the year long demonstration period.

``The importance of this award lies not in the contract value, but in the support for PTV`s advanced high-speed mobile transmission solution based on COFDM technology that will become the cornerstone for mobile and fixed wireless transmission in the future,`` said Alex Dolgonos, President and CEO of UBS.

UBS intends to integrate its COFDM transmission equipment with PTV`s COFDM DVB-T modulator and demodulator to provide a complete end-to-end transmission solution that puts UBS at the forefront of wireless mobile multimedia delivery.

``This contract is further evidence that UBS has made the right choice in its acquisition of PTV in terms of advancing our strategy and realizing our vision of becoming the leader in high-speed mobile and fixed wireless solutions based on OFDM technology,`` added Dolgonos. ``This contract and our acquisition will, no doubt, open more doors and opportunities around the world for both UBS and PTV in the wireless marketplace.``

Unique Broadband Systems Begins Fiscal 2001 with Stellar First Quarter Results and Announces Growth Strategy
346 % Increase in Revenue for Q1 Paves the Way for Growth in Both Top and Bottom Lines in Fiscal 2001
CONCORD, ON, Sept. 29 /PRNewswire/ - Unique Broadband Systems, Inc. For the quarter, UBS had net earnings of $431,484 (or income of $0.0045 per common share), as compared to a loss of $772,181 (or a loss of $0.0094 per common share) for the same period last year. Consolidated sales for the first quarter of fiscal 2001 of $3.7 million represent an increase of 346% over those in Q1 of fiscal 2000, which were $836,745.

``The expertise that we have developed in the area of OFDM technology is only beginning to pay dividends for UBS,`` said Stephen Rosen, CFO of UBS. ``The growth in both revenue and earnings over the comparable period last year demonstrates two things; firstly, that our vision of becoming a world-wide leader in high-speed mobile and fixed wireless transmission solutions is the right one to follow; and secondly, that management is executing on its strategy to make this vision a reality. We fully expect our rate of growth to accelerate over the balance of this fiscal year.``

Based on UBS` engineering expertise in the area of OFDM technology and worldwide demand for fixed and mobile high-speed wireless solutions, management intends to focus the company`s efforts and direction on the following products:

      (1) fixed and mobile wireless infrastructure, including an OFDM modem for
      bi-directional, high-speed Internet/data transmission;
      (2) wireless MMDS (wireless cable) infrastructure to provide wireless
video broadcast, including interactive services, such as video on
      demand; and
      (3) mobile broadcasting solution to service the digital television and
      digital radio markets.

``Full design, development and implementation of these products will enable UBS to provide complete end-to-end solutions to a market that, according to the Strategis Group is expected to reach US$16.3 billion by 2004,`` said Alex Dolgonos, President and CEO of UBS. ``This strategy will allow us to pursue contracts similar in size and greater than the HNS contract that we won earlier this year.

Unique Broadband Systems Reports Second Quarter Earnings

Momentum Continues in Q2 of Fiscal 2001
CONCORD, ON, Jan. 9 /CNW/ - Unique Broadband Systems, Inc. (CDNX: UBS - news), a leader in high-speed mobile and fixed wireless transmission solutions, today reported results for its second quarter of fiscal 2001, which ended November 30, 2000. Revenue for the second quarter was $15.45 million, compared with $2.34 million for the same period last year, an increase of 560%. Net earnings were $1.83 million or $0.02 per share for the second quarter, compared with earnings of $806,363 or $0.01 per share for the same period last year, increases of 114% and 100%, respectively.
"We are very pleased with our growth in both the top and bottom lines," said Stephen Rosen, CFO of UBS.

During the second quarter of fiscal 2001, UBS completed its acquisition of ProTeleVision Technologies S/A for a purchase price of approximately US$6.75 million.

As part of UBS` strategic plan for 2001, the following products are currently under development:

1 Video Distribution Product targeted for the SMATV (cable distribution) and DTV (digital television) markets. It will enable cable operators and others to receive satellite programming and distribute the content over a fiber ATM network or over a wireless terrestrial transmission network.

2 OFDM Modem, which is a bi-directional wireless modem for fixed and mobile Internet applications. The UBS engineering team has completed its proprietary physical layer (in respect of which a patent has been filed) and is well into the development of this product. Given the collective expertise of both the UBS and PTV engineering departments in the area of OFDM technology, management at UBS is confident that this product could be the first of its kind to enable high-speed mobile bi-directional transmission of data and other information for Internet usage, both for the consumer and commercial markets.

3 MMDS/RF Product, which comprises various RF products, such as transmitters, receivers and transceivers for the MMDS market. In total, there are fifteen products in this category, of which four have already been developed.

UBS also announces today that it has accepted the resignation of Paul MacNeill as a director of the company. We wish to thank Mr. MacNeill for his three years of dedicated service as a valued member of our board of directors.

This product has been shipped to television stations in Russia for use in the transmission of television in the MMDS band. The transmitter is a modular design allowing for reduced maintenance costs to the service provider.

2 L-Band and S-Band transmitter for point-to-multipoint wireless Internet applications, which can also be used in the MDS1 and MDS2 bands in the US. This product has been shipped to our customer in Canada for use in high-speed Internet applications.

3 L-Band and S-Band receiver for digital point-to-point wireless Internet applications.

4 L-Band transceiver for point-to-multipoint wireless Internet applications.

"The United States represents a huge potential marketplace in the MMDS band," said Alex Dolgonos, President and CEO of UBS. "Both products will be marketed to customers in North America and elsewhere around the world."

As announced on January 9th, both products fit within UBS` MMDS/RF Product Group, which is one of the main focuses of the company going forward. Unique Broadband Systems Announces New Feature for COFDM
      Products

New Web Link Interface Developed by PTV
CONCORD, ON, Jan. 26 /CNW/ - Unique Broadband Systems, Inc. (CDNX: UBS - news), a leader in high-speed fixed and mobile wireless transmission solutions, today announced that PTV, its wholly owned subsidiary in Denmark has completed the design and development of a new software feature for all of its COFDM products. The "Web Link PT 8720", which adds remote diagnostic and monitoring capabilities to manage, control and maintain equipment from a PC located anywhere in the world, is a new user interface that provides a web browser- like control through the Internet over products that are located off-premises.
"Businesses have realized that the Internet can provide a secure, convenient and low cost solution to many operational needs that were previously managed through expensive leased lines or private "Intranet" facilities," said Jacob Nielsen, Managing Director of PTV. "As such, we have developed a product that is simple to use, while taking advantage of the power of the Internet to improve efficiency, increase productivity and reduce costs. The operation of such equipment through remote control will result in significant savings in both time and human resources."

Unique Broadband Systems Announces Sale of Studio Division of PTV

Sale Allows UBS to focus more closely on OFDM Transmission Solutions
CONCORD, ON, Feb. 1 /CNW/ - Unique Broadband Systems, Inc. (CDNX: UBS - news), a leader in high-speed fixed and mobile wireless transmission solutions, today announced that PTV, its wholly owned subsidiary in Denmark has sold all of the assets (other than receivables) of its studio division to DK Audio, a Danish company for approximately Cdn$800,000. As part of the transaction, PTV will collect and retain approximately Cdn$800,000 in receivables (net of payables) from the studio business, which brings the total proceeds from the sale to Cdn $1.6 million.
"The sale of the studio division will allow PTV to better focus its resources, as well as its sales and marketing efforts on the COFDM transmission business and the higher growth markets in the wireless solutions business," said Jacob Nielsen, Managing Director of PTV.

PTV, which was acquired by UBS in September 2000, was comprised of two divisions. The studio division consisted of 15 employees, while the transmission division, which is being retained by UBS has 35 employees. At the time of the acquisition of PTV by UBS, the original intention was to acquire only the transmission division at an agreed upon price of US$6 million. However, due to complexities in separating the two divisions at that time, UBS agreed, at the last minute, to acquire the studio division as well for an additional US$750,000 payable in UBS shares.

"It was always our intention to divest the studio business, as it did not fit with our strategy of designing and developing high-speed fixed and mobile wireless transmission solutions," said Alex Dolgonos, President and CEO of UBS. "In terms of our overall investment in PTV, the studio division represented only 12.5% of the total purchase price, or approximately Cdn$1.1 million. With this sale, we have actually made a profit of approximately $500,000 in just over 4 months. More importantly, we have eliminated all overhead and other costs and liabilities associated with the studio division, which only served to divert management`s attention and focus away from our core business strategy."
