Barrel.

      => ca. 6 USD/ Barrel Vorräte

      => KZ Desire auf Sicht von 24 Monaten: 6 Mrd. USD/ 225 Mio. Shares= 26 USD/ share = 22 €/ Share

      Soweit die Theorie ;)

      Grant of SARs

      RNS Number:5784X
      Desire Petroleum PLC
      27 January 2006

      Desire Petroleum plc
      (" Desire" or " the Company" )

      Grant of Share Appreciation Rights

Desire announces the following grants of share appreciation rights (" SARs" )
relating to the Company`s ordinary shares of 1 pence each (" Shares" ) to its
      Directors and the Company Secretary.

Following the Company`s 2005 Interim Report, in which it was stated that the
Company intended to replace its existing Unapproved Executive Share Option
Scheme with a new incentive plan that would permit the grant of awards over
Shares up to 5% of the issued share capital of the Company, the Company on 18
January 2006 adopted the new Desire Incentive Plan 2006 (the " Plan" ).

SARs are designed to deliver a net gain in Shares equal to the increase in the
price of a Share between grant and exercise. The number of Shares actually
issued following exercise will therefore be less than the percentage of the
current issued share capital to which the grant relates as referred to below.

On 26 January 2006, the Company granted awards of Share Appreciation Rights
under the Plan (" SARs" ) over shares representing a total of 4% of the current
issued ordinary share capital of the Company, to the following Directors and the
      Company Secretary:

      Awardees

      +----------------------+-----------------------+----------------------+
      | Name | Position | SARs |
      | | |(Percentage of current|
      | | |issued share capital) |
      | | | |
      +----------------------+-----------------------+----------------------+
      |Dr Colin Phipps |Chairman | 1.1 |
      +----------------------+-----------------------+----------------------+
      |Ian Duncan |Chief Executive | 1.1 |
      | |Director | |
      +----------------------+-----------------------+----------------------+
      |Andrew Windham |Non-Executive Director | 0.4 |
      +----------------------+-----------------------+----------------------+
      |Lewis Clifton |Non-Executive Director | 0.4 |
      +----------------------+-----------------------+----------------------+
      |Stephen Phipps |Non-Executive Director | 0.4 |
      +----------------------+-----------------------+----------------------+
      |Edward Wisniewski |Non-Executive Director | 0.4 |
      +----------------------+-----------------------+----------------------+
      |Anna Neve |Company Secretary | 0.2 |
      +----------------------+-----------------------+----------------------+

Upon exercise of the SARs, the relevant Awardee will be issued with Shares with
a market value at the date of exercise equivalent to the notional gain that the
Awardee would have made, being the amount by which the aggregate market value of
the number of Shares in respect of which the SAR is exercised exceeds the
aggregate Base Price of that number of Shares. The Base Price of a SAR will be
33.75 pence per Share (being the middle market quotation of a Share on the
dealing day immediately preceding the date of grant).

Accordingly, if the price of a Share at the date of exercise is 50 per cent.
higher than the Base Price, then the number of Shares issued upon exercise of a
SAR award of 1 per cent. of the current issued share capital of the Company
would equate to only 0.33 per cent. of the current issued share capital of the
      Company.

Likewise, a doubling of the Share price from the Base Price would result in the
issue of Shares equal to 0.5 per cent. of the current issued share capital.

The current issued share capital of Desire is 221,431,762 Shares.

No further awards of SARs will be made to the above Awardees.

No consideration is payable on the grant of a SAR. SARs granted under the Plan
will become exercisable on 23 January 2009.

      Hat Desire einen Rig?

Heute + 18% in London und seit gestern dicke Käufe

Weekly Offshore Rig Review: Semisub Crystal Ball
      RigLogix Thursday, March 09, 2006

The total number of offshore rigs under contract this week is unchanged since last week. However, the number of rigs contracted rose by one rig over the last two weeks, since the last time we published the Weekly Offshore Rig Review.

We took last week off from publishing the Rig Review to prepare for the RigLogix Users` Meeting held last Friday. And this week we`re back with some of the information that was covered during that session. In particular, we focused on the deepwater (4,000`+) semisubmerisble market, which we will be looking at today.

      Related Products

      Horizontal Well Technology

      Blowout and Well Control Handbook

The Current State of the Deepwater Semisub Fleet
At this time, the deepwater semi fleet consists of 54 rigs, 50 of which are currently under contract. One of the four rigs that are currently not contracted, the Noble Paul Wolff, is set to go on contract within the week. The other three non-contracted rigs are undergoing repairs and upgrades, and all have contracts lined up for when the rigs leave the shipyard.

Of the currently contracted deepwater semis, 40% of the fleet (20 rigs) is working in the Gulf of Mexico. Another 20% of the fleet (10 rigs) is working offshore West Africa. And 9 more deepwater semis are working in the waters offshore Brazil. The North Sea is the last major region for deepwater semis, with 5 rigs currently working there. The other rigs are spread around the world in Australia, SE Asia, South America and the Mediterannean.

      The Deepwater Semisub Contract Backlog
At this time, only 5 deepwater semis will be available for new contracts within the next 12 months. Looking an additional year out into the future, another 17 rigs will be available from a year to two years from now. So, that means that during the next 2 years, only 22 of 54 semisubs (40%) will be available to start new contracts at any point during that time. Conversely, 32 of 54 semisubs (60%) have contracts that will keep them working for at least the next 2 years.

      New Semisubs Entering the Market
This high level of demand has prompted the construction of 16 new deepwater semisubmersible rigs. The soonest any of those rigs is likely to be delivered is the end of 2007, with the majority of the new semis (11 rigs, 68%) scheduled to be delivered during 2008.

      The Forecast for Semisub Utilization
Thanks to a new forecasting model, we can now provide a forecast for future utilization within this segment (and others). Looking forward to 2008, we expect to see deepwater semisub utilization remain above 90% into the first quarter. After that, as newbuilds quickly begin to enter the market and global oil supply and demand adjust, utilization is likely to begin declining to 41 of 72 available rigs at the start of 2009, which is just below a 60% utilization rate. Deepwater semisub utilization will remain between 50% and 60% for all of 2009.

Was laberst denn Du für Zeug?

Insgesamt 4 Mio. GBP umgesetzt. Obwohl es keine neuen Nachrichten gibt. Vielleicht also eine Übernahme

Oil Giant Ready to Shell Out $10 Billion on Acquistions
by John Bowker, Deputy City Editor The Scotsman Friday, January 27, 2006

Shell is prepared to spend as much as US $10 billion (GBP 5.6 billion) on a single acquisition despite the high oil price in what is the group's latest attempt to replenish its dwindling reserves.

The oil giant's chief executive, Jeroen van der Veer, said that deals of around that scale would create value for its shareholders, and he would not rule out an expansion into any geographic region Related Products

      Spouting Off

International Exploration Economics, Risk, and Contracts Analysis

      around the world.

" Even in times of high oil prices, it's possible," he said on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum in Davos. " You may do small acquisitions or swaps of up to US $10 billion." However, he ruled out any larger deals as the high price of oil would make them uneconomic.

Shell, the world's third-largest listed oil firm by market value, is still living down a reserves scandal that shocked investors in 2004. The revelation that its oil and gas reserves were massively overstated sent Shell's shares tumbling.

The market is awaiting an update on Shell's reserve replacement progress at its annual results next Thursday. A year ago, the group reported that it found only 45-55 percent of the oil it pumped in 2004, vexing investors.

One area where Shell is unlikely to expand is the North Sea. The group revealed in December that it was cutting back future exploration plans following a tax hike on production by Gordon Brown, while it put three of its fields in the maturing area up for sale last April.

Van der Veer was also keen to discuss troubled Nigeria, where Shell ranks as the biggest foreign producer. He said his first concern was for the safety of four oil workers held hostage by militants - a flash point in a five-week campaign of sabotage and kidnapping by the Movement for the Emancipation of the Niger Delta.

The crisis has pushed world oil prices to four-month highs and shut in 221,000 barrels per day of Shell's output in Nigeria.

" I expect the government would like to sit down with [the oil] industry and talk about what can happen on security and keeping the oil flowing," Van der Veer said.

The Nigerian movement said it would make Shell suffer unless it paid US $1.5 billion to delta villages in compensation for decades of oil pollution, which is one of its demands for releasing the hostages. Van der Veer said repairs could not start on damaged oil infrastructure until discussions about ensuring security in the OPEC producer had taken place. " When the situation is safe again, then you can restart production very quickly," he said.

The Dutchman added that Shell remained committed to increasing output of oil from so-called " unconventional" deposits despite some project cost overruns and a string of unplanned outages.

Shell has started a study for an oil shales project in Colorado, he said. It will test technology for heating oil underground there. Oil shales is a type of rock that can be turned into an oily substance at a high temperature - and can be found in Scotland.

Shell is also looking at oil deposits in ever-deeper water, and analysing deposits of tight gas, or gas left in reservoirs after conventional drilling. The group's shares closed off 6p at 1,835p.

      Farm-in agreement
      25th February 2008

Desire Petroleum plc('Desire' or 'the Company') Farm-in agreementThe Board of Desire Petroleum plc is pleased to announce that it has accepted the terms of an offer from a significant party to farm-in to three of the eighteen exploration prospects identified by Desire in the North Falkland Basin and currently carried in the Company’s prospect inventory.

The farm-in remains subject to certain awards and approvals by the Falkland Islands Government which are being applied for and a further announcement, including the final terms of the farm-in, will be made once the necessary awards and approvals are in place.

If successfully approved, the farm-in will involve the drilling of two exploration wells, including the mobilization and demobilization costs associated with the two wells, at no cost to Desire.

At current rig rates, in addition to the two wells above, Desire has sufficient resources to be able to drill two wells for its own account in the North Falkland Basin. Thus, in combination with the two-well commitment entered into by BHP Billiton south of the Falkland Islands, there is now the potential to hire a rig for a minimum six-well drilling programme, thus defraying mobilization/demobilization costs for all parties. Desire continues its efforts to hire a suitable rig in partnership with all of the other companies involved in Falklands exploration.

Given the size of Desire’s exploration inventory, the Company may seek other farm-in partners for other prospects, in addition to any wells drilled for its own account, and further discussions, which may lead to additional farm-ins, are under consideration.

      Liebe Freunde,

      Grant of Share Appreciation Rights
      27th February 2008

RNS Number:7984ODesire Petroleum PLC Desire Petroleum plc ('Desire' or 'the Company') Grant of Share Appreciation Rights Desire announces that it has today granted share appreciation rights ('SARs') over ordinary shares in the Company ('Shares') representing 0.4% of the current issued ordinary share capital to Robert Lyons, the Company's recently appointed non-executive director. SARs are designed to deliver a net gain in Shares equal to the increase in the price of a Share between grant and exercise. The number of Shares actually issued following exercise will therefore be less than the percentage of the current issued share capital to which the grant relates. Upon exercise of the SARs, the awardee will be issued with Shares with a marketvalue at the date of exercise equivalent to the notional gain that the awardee would have made, being the amount by which the aggregate market value of the number of Shares in respect of which the SAR is exercised exceeds the aggregate Base Price of that number of Shares. The Base Price of a SAR will be 46.5 pence per Share (being the closing middle market price of a Share on the dealing day immediately preceding the date of grant). The current issued share capital of Desire is 227,128,012 Shares. No consideration is payable on the grant of a SAR. The SARs granted to Mr Lyons will become exercisable on 26 February 2011.

      1 Mrd Barrel x 10 USD/Barrel x 0,66 EUR/USD / 0,25 Mrd Aktien =

      25 Euro/ Aktie

      Will Desire reveal all?

THE Chairman of Desire Petroleum, Dr Colin Phipps, is expected to release his annual report on Monday and industry insiders are hopeful the company will reveal the identity of its farm-in partner.

In February, Desire announced it had accepted the terms of an offer from a “significant party” to farm-in to three of the eighteen exploration prospects they had identified in the North Falklands Basin, however the identity of the partner was not revealed.

Since then, the company’s share price has tripled in price.

The Times Online this week reported that the agreement was rumoured to be with private Norwegian group Arcadia, however Desire’s Falklands spokesperson, Lewis Clifton, was unwilling to confirm this, saying that any announcement had to come via the London Stock Exchange.

      http://www.iii.co.uk/investment/detail/?display=discussion&c…

BHP wanted to farm into Desires whole acreage.
      Why?
To use the FOGL rig when not online in FOGL water.
Because they see Desire acreage as prime Fi acreage (>FOGL).
To increase chances of a hit when the rig is there (Des is >FOGL).

However, FIG said no way guys, you're not going to control FOGL acreage and Desires acreage (=too much control).

So........ they sat around the table and ate biscuits and discussed the idea and......many biscuits later someone said, why don't BHP just farm into a few of Desire wells???? (Everyone looked at the person (probably junior) and laughed. A few more biscuits were eaten, followed by some tea. A senior person, then said, "Well you know.......I think the solution might before BHP to take a % of Desire wells". At which everyone applauded the senior guy’s visionary plan.

The wheels were put in motion, however, this would need FIG to adjust some of it previous awards and approvals, as it was not something that had been considered and planned for.

More biscuit consumption followed and other suggestions off the original idea were made. Rockhopper could get involved, with a new placing to pay 15% of the costs, if they fell in PL02 & PL03. “Yeah that’s good”, said the senior guy, ” I like that, that’s spreading it around a bit”.

Meanwhile, the news was leaking, an RNS would be needed, to stop regulatory involvement.

What about the meeting on 6th/7th? What better time to announce the NFB involvement in the near future drilling campaign.

Meanwhile Desire runs back to its previous offers and says, "Look guys, where drilling now, you better up your offers, or else".

      14 August 2008

For immediate release. 14 August 2008

      Desire Petroleum plc

      ("Desire" or "the Company")

Farm-out Agreement and Grant of New Acreage

Desire signs agreement with Arcadia Petroleum Limited

New licence awarded over major new prospect

      Exciting new gas play identified

Desire Petroleum plc is pleased to announce that further to the Announcement of 25 February 2008, regarding the
      acceptance, by Desire,
of the terms of a conditional farm-in offer, the approval of the Falkland Islands Government has now been received and
      that a formal
farm-out agreement has been entered into with Arcadia Petroleum Ltd. ("Arcadia").

The Falkland Islands Government has also granted Desire and Arcadia new acreage adjacent to Desire's existing
      acreage in Tranche I, in
      the North Falkland Basin.

Arcadia is a U.K., private, integrated, upstream and downstream, international, energy business which is a member
      of a significant group
of related companies involved in the oil industry. Arcadia is in the process of building a world-wide portfolio of
      high-quality, de-risked,
exploration and production assets in frontier and semi-frontier areas.

The terms of the farm-out arrangements are as follows:

      Tranche C

Arcadia will drill and test the Ann prospect paying 85% of the costs to earn a 35% interest in a sub-area of
      Tranche C covering the Ann
      and Orca South prospects.

Rockhopper Exploration plc, as part of a larger transaction, is responsible for paying the remaining 15% of the
      Ann well costs to earn
a 7.5% interest in Tranches C and D. Accordingly, the net result to Desire will be a 57.5% interest in the Ann
      prospect for which the
Desire mid-estimate of potential recoverable reserves is 202 million barrels of oil. Following AVO studies in 2007
      Desire now estimates the
chance of success on this prospect at 50%, which is the chance of the prospect containing hydrocarbons.

      Tranche I

Arcadia will drill and test a major new prospect named Alpha, paying 100% of the costs to earn 50% in Block 25/10
      and part of Block
25/15. This prospect also extends into the newly awarded Blocks 25/8, 25/9 and 25/14b where Arcadia has an 80% interest
      and Desire 20%.

Based on the current mapping, Desire estimates that it has an approximately 30% interest in the total Alpha prospect. Alpha is a large, well-defined, structural closure, covering an area of over 300 square kilometres. It is associated with a very strong AVO anomaly which in addition to significantly de-risking the prospect, suggests that the reservoir is gas charged. Desire's mid-estimate for the potential recoverable reserves for Alpha is 7.8 trillion cubic feet (Tcf) with 15 Tcf in the upside case.

These volumes are considered more than adequate for a commercial gas development in the event of a discovery. This prospect represents an exciting new major exploration play in the North Falkland Basin. Arcadia will also pay the mobilisation and demobilisation costs associated with the two wells. In addition to the two wells to be drilled by Arcadia, Desire has undertaken to drill two wells for its own account including the mobilisation and demobilisation costs associated with these two wells. Desire will remain as operator on all the acreage Arcadia has joined them in. Mr Stephen Phipps (Chairman of Desire) commented: "The Board of Desire very much welcomes the opportunity to work with Arcadia, whose exploration philosophy fits extremely well with our own. We look forward to a long and successful partnership with Arcadia. The majority of the prospects in the Desire inventory are still held 100% by Desire and with the funds currently available and at current rig rates we are able to drill two of these for our own account. With our new partner on board we are now in a far stronger position to pursue actively all available rig opportunities for drilling our prospects. We are excited about the new exploration gas play and the large potential of the Alpha prospect." Thursday, September 10, 2009

Desire Petroleum plc, the AIM listed exploration company focusing on the North Falkland Basin, is pleased to announce that it has exchanged a letter of intent with Diamond Offshore Drilling (UK) Ltd for the drilling unit the Ocean Guardian to undertake a four well minimum drilling campaign in the North Falkland Basin.

The Ocean Guardian is currently in the North Sea and following a programme of shipyard work will mobilise in November 2009. Projected arrival in Falkland waters is early February 2010. Desire has options to drill a further four wells for itself and or its partners. Further details will be announced post contract completion which is subject to various approvals, including Desire Board, Partner and regulatory approvals.

The Company believes that with a rig becoming active in the North Falkland Basin the Company should endeavour to drill as many wells as possible to test the full potential of this highly prospective area. To this end Desire is investigating with its advisors the best course of action to raise additional funds prior to mobilisation to ensure the area is appraised as widely as possible. It is Desire’s intention that shareholders will have the opportunity to participate in the fund raising.

Commenting on the development, Stephen Phipps, Chairman of Desire said:
“The Board of Desire is delighted to be able to report today’s news on securing a rig to drill our prospect inventory in the Falkland Islands. Subject to the anticipated timing, we will be commencing activity in early 2010, where we intend to explore as many play types as possible, thus maximising our chances of success.”

Drilling Rig Contract Update - Oct 2, 2009
      www.desireplc.co.uk/investor_relations_announcements.php?art…

"Desire Petroleum (AIM:DES) the exploration company focusing on the North Falkland Basin, is pleased to announce the formal signing of a rig contract with Diamond Offshore Drilling (UK) Ltd for the use of the drilling unit the Ocean Guardian.

The terms of the contract are for a four well, minimum eighty day campaign, under which the Guardian could earn maximum total revenue of US$19.6 million. Mobilisation and demobilization fees are estimated to be US$16 million dollars. Desire has secured options to drill a further six wells for itself or its partners. Following a programme of scheduled shipyard work the rig will mobilise from North Sea waters in late November 2009 and the first well is expected to spud in the North Falkland basin in early February 2010.

Desire has retained the services of AGR Petroleum Services for the provision of well construction technical work and operations management. All associated service contracting is underway as is the necessary addendum to the Company’s EIAs to include the relevant details of the Ocean Guardian. In conjunction, detailed drilling budgets which will include the additional costs of associated services necessary for drilling are being prepared for the formal approval of the Company’s partners.

Desire has waited a number of years to secure a rig at competitive rates to drill in the North Falkland Basin. The Company believes that it should take this opportunity to have the flexibility to drill more wells and/or potentially test successful wells. It is the Company’s intention to raise additional funds to enable it to do so.

Commenting on the signing of the rig contract, Stephen Phipps, Chairman of Desire, said:

“We are delighted to be able to announce the formal rig contract with Diamond Offshore Drilling. We intend to maximize our chances of success with our firm four well programme, with additional wells being likely, subject to further agreements with partners and additional funding.”

      Hi,

:keks: .Cnooc to sign $2.5bn Tullow deal

Chinese offshore giant Cnooc Ltd has agreed to buy a stake in the Ugandan oil assets of Tullow Oil for $2.5 billion, people with direct knowledge of the deal told Dow Jones Newswires today.

News wires Friday, 05 February, 2010, 17:49 GMT

The deal - due to be signed later today in London - strengthens the foothold of Chinese companies in East Africa's energy sector.

Cnooc is exploring for crude oil in neighbouring Kenya, while state-controlled CNPC and Sinopec have major producing oil assets in Sudan.

Cnooc's selection follows a long-running bid process instigated by UK-listed Tullow after appraisal wells confirmed the presence of around 1 billion barrels of oil in Uganda's Lake Albert region.

Cnooc Ltd is the Hong Kong-listed unit of China National Offshore Oil Corp.

The people declined to give further details on the agreement with Tullow, saying statements would be issued by both parties later.

A spokesman for Tullow said "no agreement has been signed with any company at this stage.

"Tullow won't reach an agreement with any company until the process has been completed with the government of Uganda," he said.

Tullow boss Aidan Heavey said late last month its new partner would entirely fund the development of a 1200-kilometre pipeline to export Uganda's oil to the Kenyan port of Mombasa.

Tullow Oil said last month it would bring either French giant Total or Cnooc as a partner to develop its oil fields in Uganda as the country seeks to start producing oil.

The downstream development plan is also likely to include a refinery, the size of which will be determined by a feasibility study in late March or early April, Heavey said. Tullow would lead exploration and upstream development in the Lake Albert area, Heavey said at the time.

The deal comes after the government of Uganda approved Tullow Oil's purchase of Heritage Oil stakes in two oil blocks yesterday.

That decision ended Italian player Eni’s attempt to obtain the assets, which would have marked its entry into Uganda's promising oil sector.

UK-based Heritage agreed in December to sell its 50% stakes in the two Ugandan oil blocks to Eni for up to $1.5 billion, but Tullow exercised its rights to buy the assets at the same price.

Tullow and Heritage share ownership of the two blocks on Lake Albert, and Tullow owns all of a third block.

Uganda expects to start oil production in the next two to three years.

The country plans to produce around 150,000 barrels of oil per day within six years, most of which will be exported.

The steady revenue stream from oil could radically change the fortunes of the east African country, one of the world's poorest.

China's oil giants are stepping up their investment in overseas oil assets. Last month, a consortium led by PetroChina won the right to develop the Halfaya oil field in Iraq under a 20-year contract.

The Chinese government encourages state-owned oil companies to buy assets abroad to secure energy for its booming economy.

China's economic recovery is keeping energy demand and oil prices high, driving earnings growth that will help Cnooc fund its ambitious plans to raise both output and reserves.

Cnooc targeted production of 275 million to 290 million barrels of oil equivalent this year, driven by projects in China and Africa.

Output in 2009 is expected to be 226 million to 228 million BOE, the company said this week.

Africa, which holds Cnooc's largest overseas net proved reserves, has been the main driving force of the company's overseas production growth recently.

Cnooc has assets in African countries including Nigeria, Kenya and Equatorial Guinea.

Cnooc is targeting growth in oil and gas output at a compound annual rate of 6%-10% between 2011 and 2015.

OSLO, Feb 8 (Reuters) - Norwegian oil and gas contractor AGR Petroleum Services said on Monday it had won a contract to launch a drilling campaign off the Falkland Islands later this month.

Last week, Argentina protested to Britain over plans to begin offshore oil exploration in the Falkland Islands, which the two countries went to war over in 1982. [ID:nN02111521]

AGR Petroleum Services, one of the largest independent well management firms in the world, said it had been contracted by Desire Petroleum (LSE: GB0002689494.L - news) and Rockhopper Exploration Plc to provide logistical support and undertake a six-well drilling programme in the North Falklands Basin starting in February.

AGR said it was also in discussions with a possible third operator regarding additional drilling off the islands, located in the south Atlantic Ocean near Argentina's coast.

      North Falkland Basin

AGR Petroleum Services (AGR) will begin a significant drilling campaign, valued at more than £2 million, off the Falklands Islands this month on behalf of two operators.

The company, which is one of the largest independent well management firms in the world, has been contracted by Desire Petroleum and Rockhopper Exploration Plc to provide logistical support and undertake a six well drilling program in the North Falklands Basin. Desire Petroleum has four prospects while Rockhopper will have two exploration wells drilled.

AGR is also in discussions with a possible third operator regarding additional drilling in the region.

Executive Vice President Ian Burdis of AGR said, "This is a major project for us. To be contracted by two companies to undertake work in this frontier region is great recognition of our teams’ expertise in these challenging environments.

"There's been a huge amount of logistical preparation required ahead of this activity. We're now ready to begin drilling and will be working closely with our clients to achieve a successful outcome."

AGR has established a supply base in Port Stanley the Falkland Islands which required an initial loadout of approx. 9,000 tonnes of cargo to be shipped from Aberdeen Harbour -- the largest consignment of its kind to be transported from the city to the region.

The drilling campaign is expected to begin around the middle of February, weather dependent, and last for approximately five months.

Bob Lyons, Managing Director of Desire said, "This project is central to our exploration and production activity and we are pleased to have AGR on board to provide support throughout the program. Their teams are well respected in the industry and provide the ideal fit with our operations."

The third generation semisubmersible drilling rig Ocean Guardian has been contracted from Diamond Offshore Drilling by Desire and will be used during the drilling of all six wells. It set sail from Invergordon, in the north east of Scotland late November and is due to arrive in the Falkland Islands around the middle of February.

Sam Moody, Managing Director, of Rockhopper added, "We have found AGR's preparations for this drilling campaign to be highly professional and enjoy a very constructive working relationship with the team there. We look forward to the start of the program."

      Conceptión in Trümmern

      Erinnerung an 1960

Mai 1960 in derselben Region gemessen.

      Speculation over Desire announcement

Published 16.03.2010 09:06:48 by John Bradbury

There has been speculation that Desire Petroleum might be about to make an announcement because the company's share price has risen as it nears the end of drilling on the Liz prospect off the north of the Falkland Islands.

Britain's Independent newspaper was cited as saying that Desire was set to make an announcement either Thursday or Friday this week about the outcome of the Liz exploration well.

And according to Reuters, Desire shares were up 8.9% and partner Rockhopper Exploration's shares were also up, by 11%.

Desire's shares have climbed in value in the last year from an April 2009 peaking in February at more than 120p per share. Today Desire's shares were priced at around 103p per share.

The 14.19A Liz exploration well was spudded on 22 February with the Ocean Guardian semi-submersible and Desire indicated at the time that the well would take about 30 days to drill.

FALKLANDS OIL – THE SOURCE ROCK IS KEY

      By J. Brock (FINN)

It’s been nearly a month since Ocean Guardian spudded its exploratory well for Desire Petroleum in the Liz Prospect. Indications are that despite the thick source rock and the length of the drill there will be significant reserves of crude beneath it. However, we won’t know if this well is successful until the source rock is penetrated. The late Dr Colin Phipps mentioned that the rock could be as much as 2km deep – thus the month drilling through it.

Having thick source rock means less hydrocarbons will escape through it to form oil slicks on the ocean surface. Still, after all of that drilling, nothing could be found. It’s a game of hit and miss with one exploratory well bringing up nothing while one near-by could have a significant find.

On the way down the well could produce indicators like gas hydrates, making a discovery more likely but not a certainty. Whether or not samples have winged their way to the UK is minor news. Samples sent north when the rock is penetrated will better tell the complete story of what (if anything) we have discovered.

I think the longer it takes to drill through the source rock the better chances are that we will find something. Quantities will only be known when the rock is penetrated and it is possible there will be an announcement any time past the 23rd of March.

Time spent penetrating source rock in the Liz Prospect is a good indicator of how long other exploratory wells will take to drill. That’s good news for Falklands’ Businesses having a stake in the exploratory round and eventually excellent news for investors.

Zitat: THE first well drilled off the Falkland Islands in 12 years has struck oil — but not enough for a commercial well.

Desire Petroleum, the UK explorer, is expected to announce the disappointing findings this week, according to industry sources.
      ....
The company declined to comment. Sources close to the situation said it had not finished drilling, but the signs were not encouraging.

A source said: “It’s not a duster [a dry well], but it’s not commercially successful.” Desire has been working on the well for the past month.

Its disappointment is not the end of the Falklands oil story. Desire is one of four UK-listed firms that have raised £250m from investors in recent months to fund an exploration spree around the islands.

Rockhopper Exploration will drill its Sea Lion prospect next month. That will be followed by one well from Falkland Oil and Gas, before Rockhopper takes the rig back to drill another.

Falkland Oil and Gas has linked up with BHP Billiton, the Anglo-Australian group that is one of the world’s largest miners.

Borders & Southern, the other British firm, is further behind because its acreage in the deeper waters south of the islands requires a different type of rig — the other fields are in the north.

None of the companies has any other assets. If the holes are dry, investors will be left with nothing except whatever cash remains. Typically an offshore well can take a month to drill at a cost of up to $250,000 (£168,000) a day.

Desire’s news is likely to depress its share price, and those of its Falklands-focused rivals. The firm has stakes in several other blocks that are expected to be drilled in the next 18 months. Industry insiders still hope that at least one will lead to a big find.

Falklands oil unviable - Desire Petroleum
      Sun Mar 28, 2010 4:49pm BST

LONDON (Reuters) - Oil explorer Desire Petroleum (DES.L) will report that oil discovered in test drilling off the Falkland Islands is not commercially viable, The Sunday Times reported, citing industry sources.

The newspaper said Desire was expected to say that while it had found oil, there was not enough to justify developing the field.

Drilling by the company of the first well in the region in over a decade ignited protests from Argentina, which claims the British territory.

Buenos Aires said the exploration was a breach of its sovereignty, but Britain, which established rule in the islands in the 19th century and defeated an Argentine invasion of the islands in 1982, rejected the complaint.

Analysts had said the prospect could contain reserves of up to 400 million barrels, but the risk of hitting nothing was also seen as high.

Three other explorers are planning to drill in the area: Falkland Oil and Gas (FOGL.L), Rockhopper Exploration (RKH.L) and Borders and Southern Petroleum (BSTH.L)

A spokesman for Desire said on Sunday that tests were ongoing, and the company would issue a statement on Monday morning clarifying the situation to shareholders.

Due to recent press speculation, Desire Petroleum wishes to announce that the Liz 14/19-1 well, in the North Falkland Basin, has reached a depth of 3570 metres and logging is underway.

The primary Liz target was encountered at around 2550 metres with indications of hydrocarbons while drilling. Subsequent logging operations have shown that oil may be present in thin intervals but that reservoir quality is poor. Wireline sampling is still to be carried out. Deeper gas shows have also been encountered while drilling, particularly below 3400 metres and these have still to be evaluated by wireline logging and sampling.

Until the logging is complete and the results analysed it will not be possible to determine the significance of the hydrocarbons encountered and whether the well will need to be drilled deeper, suspended for testing or plugged and abandoned.

Operations are expected to be completed later this week when a full announcement will be made.

Shares in North Falkland basin-focused Desire were down by 44 percent at 0808 GMT after the company said logging operations at its Liz 14/19-1 well showed oil may be present in thin intervals but reservoir quality is poor.

Rockhopper (RKH.L) another Falklands explorer which has a 7.5 percent working interest in the Liz well, was also hit by the update. Its shares were down by 24 percent.

Shares in Falkland Oil and Gas (FOGL.L) and Borders & Southern Petroleum (BSTH.L), two other oil explorers, also fell, by 13.6 percent and 12.7 percent respectively although the latter two's prospects are in the south of the islands.

Desire said Liz reached a depth of 3,570 metres and added that gas had been encountered, particularly below 3,400 metres and that this still had to be evaluated.

Analysts at Seymour Pierce and Oriel Securities retained their "buy" ratings for Desire

"Whilst the market may have been looking for seagull-scorching test results from Liz, it should be borne in mind that this is the first of a potential six-well programme by Desire," analyst Alan Sinclair said.

Desire said that operations at Liz were expected to be completed later this week when a full announcement would be made.

"Until the logging is complete and the results analysed, it will not be possible to determine the significance of the hydrocarbons encountered and whether the well will need to be drilled deeper, suspended for testing or plugged and abandoned," the company said.

Rockhopper said the Ocean Guardian rig would move to its Sea Lion 14/10-B well after being released from Liz.

      Drilling Update (1st April 2010)

      Desire Petroleum plc

      ("Desire" or "the Company")

      Drilling Update

Desire Petroleum Plc (AIM:DES) the oil and gas exploration company, wholly focused on the North Falkland Basin, wishes to provide a further drilling update on the Liz 14/19-1 Exploration well, where wireline operations are continuing.

From the interpretation of the logs received to date, it appears that the deepest play type is still undrilled and Desire's intention is to drill around a further 200 metres to test this play subject to operational constraints.

Wireline logging and sampling have been completed on the lower section of the well, primarily below 3,400 metres where the deeper gas shows were encountered. Petrophysical interpretation indicates that gas pay has been penetrated but that the reservoir quality in this section is poor.

Wireline sampling and pressure recording has still to be carried out on the primary Liz target and a number of other zones where hydrocarbon shows were encountered.

Final completion of the well is expected late next week.

Desire Petroleum still hopeful of oil drilling success

Apr 6 2010 By Graeme Brown

      Recommend

A rough week at sea resulted in a 48 per cent fall in oil explorer Desire Petroleum’s share price after news of its first drill disappointed investors.

The Malvern-based firm’s shares halved in value in the space of a day, from £1 to 50p, after it found poor quality oil in the first well to be drilled in the Falkland Islands for a decade.

The drilling campaign organised by Desire, which was established by former Dudley West MP Colin Phipps, has already been dogged with controversy after it sparked protests from Argentina, which claims the British territory.

However, analysts have said it is too early to judge Desire’s campaign, which still has five wells to drill, and a Birmingham-based geology expert has said that while low quality oil can be more expensive to deal with, it will become more well-used as global reserves are depleted.

After the share price fall, Westhouse Securities analysts said: “Expectations ran high ahead of the start of drilling for both companies and this morning’s share price reflects the market’s significant disappointment with news to date.”

But Westhouse said the sell-off of the firms’ shares was overdone and added that while there may be implications for drilling at other wells in the area planned for later in the year, only the Liz [the first well] project would be removed from forecasts.

“While clearly not the commercial success the companies were hoping for, it is still very early to declare the drilling campaign a failure.”

Analysts at Seymour Pierce and Oriel Securities have retained their “buy” ratingsfor Desire despite disappointing news from Liz.

Analyst Alan Sinclair said: “Whilst the market may have been looking for seagull-scorching test results from Liz, it should be borne in mind that this is the first of a potential six-well programme by Desire.”

Shares in Desire made a slight recovery after falling as low as 50p after an announcement on March 29. The company said operations at Liz were not yet completed and it would know whether to drill deeper, pause for testing or abandon the well once the analysis is fully carried out.

The well has reached a depth of 3,570 metres and gas has also been discovered, particularly below 3,400 metres, which has to be evaluated.

Desire said its drilling rig would relocate to another solely-owned well in the area after operations at Liz conclude.

The company said: “Until the logging is complete and the results analysed, it will not be possible to determine the significance of the hydrocarbons encountered and whether the well will need to be drilled deeper, suspended for testing or plugged and abandoned.”

Plans to drill for oil around the disputed islands sparked a fresh diplomatic spat between the UK and Argentina, who fought a bitter war over the territory in 1982.

Britain refused US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s recent offer to broker talks between the two sides, insisting there was nothing to discuss about the sovereignty of the islands.

Dr Joe Wood, senior lecturer in chemical engineering at the University of Birmingham, who works to improve conditions for drilling low quality oil in Canada, said poor quality oil required more work to process it, which harms profit margins.

However, as oil becomes a rarer commodity companies are going to have to consider drilling in areas which are lower quality, he said.

Dr Wood said: “The cleaner oils from the Middle East can be used with minimum upgrading but lower quality oils need a lot more work, so they aren’t as economical. When oil prices are high then these extra costs can be justified.

He added: ‘‘Companies are going to have to look at next generation oils.

“Over the next 10 or 20 years we are going to become more reliant on lower quality deposits.”

Mathon-based oil firm plugs initial Falklands well

      10:29am Friday 9th April 2010

FALKLANDS oil explorer Desire Petroleum, based in Mathon, has plugged and abandoned its initial well in the region while it evaluates the results.

The firm drilled down to 3,667 metres to the north of the South Atlantic islands and discovered hydrocarbon - the principal constituent of petroleum and natural gas - which will now be analysed.

Desire’s chairman Stephen Phipps said the Liz well, located in the North Falklands Basin, had shown “promising results”.

He added: “Gas has been discovered at two levels and the prospectivity of the basin has been greatly enhanced. We now intend to carry out technical work to assess and analyse the information that we have obtained from this well and we are very much looking forward to resuming the drilling campaign later in the year.”

Liz was the first well in a multi-well campaign by Desire Petroleum. Fellow British oil company Rockhopper Exploration will now get their chance to begin drilling on the Ocean Guardian rig before Desire can resume in about three-months.

Desire’s share price fell to 44p yesterday (Thursday), from a year high of 130p in January.

      Desire Petroleum Announces Gas Discovery
      Thursday, Apr 08, 2010

The Liz well 14/19-1, drilled by Desire Petroleum plc, in the North Falkland Basin, has reached a total depth of 3,667 metres. Final logging has been completed and the well is now being plugged and abandoned as a gas discovery.

The initial log interpretation indicates that 17 metres of net hydrocarbon pay were encountered between 2961 and 3031 metres within a zone of over-pressured, predominantly sandstone, reservoir. A hydrocarbon sample and formation pressures were recovered from this interval. The initial analysis suggests that the hydrocarbon type is wet gas, but its precise characteristics will be confirmed through further analysis. There is no indication from log data or pressure data of a water-leg in this interval. Much work is now required to evaluate the reservoir quality, to determine the trapping mechanism and to assess the potential of this discovery.

Dry gas was also recovered from a deeper interval below 3,400 metres indicating that gas pay is present in generally poor quality reservoir but there is considerable uncertainty on the rock type and more work will be required to assess its reservoir potential. This gas is a separate accumulation from that above, in a different pressure regime. Again further work is required to assess the significance of this interval.

The Liz fan was encountered between 2,540 and 2,568 metres. Good oil shows were recorded while drilling but logging and sampling confirmed that this reservoir interval was tight. It is believed the Beth fan was also penetrated between 2,654 and 2,672 metres also with oil shows in tight reservoir. In both fans, work will now try to determine whether better quality reservoir may be developed updip.

Weak oil shows were also noted in conglomeratic zones between 2,706 and 2,932 metres.

The well was not suspended for later testing as the well was not designed to test over pressured gas.

Additionally, further technical work is required in order to understand better the reservoirs to ensure any test is designed optimally.

Due to increasing overpressure concerns the well did not reach the deepest play type in the pre-rift.

Liz was the first well in a multi-well campaign to explore the North Falkland Basin. Rockhopper will now drill two wells in the North Falkland Basin and BHP one in the East Falkland Basin before the rig returns to Desire for further drilling later in the year.

Desire will now have at least three months to evaluate all the data from the Liz well and this together with the data from the Rockhopper wells will greatly assist in the selection of the future locations for the Desire wells.

Commenting on the announcement, Desire's Chairman Stephen Phipps said:

"This well has proved complex and highly encouraging. Hydrocarbons have been found in two separate intervals, the geological model for the basin has been confirmed and at least two petroleum systems have been drilled, with hydrocarbon shows recorded over a wide interval. More sandstone was encountered than expected but typically of poor quality. However new reservoir targets have been identified and the challenge will be to predict where these may occur in better quality.

This well has provided some promising results, gas has been discovered at two levels and the prospectivity of the basin has been greatly enhanced. We now intend to carry out technical work to assess and analyse the information that we have obtained from this well and we are very much looking forward to resuming the drilling campaign later in the year."

Subsurface support is provided to Desire Petroleum by Senergy (GB) Ltd and the results reported today are based on the work of the Senergy operations team.

This statement has been approved by Dr Ian Duncan of Desire Petroleum plc, who is a Fellow of the Geological Society, Chartered Geologist, and a member of the American Association of Petroleum Geologists with over 35 years experience in petroleum exploration and management.

      doch eigentlich ganz positiv.

A little out of date as he was speaking before the Desire announcement and subsequent delay.

Tim Bushell was a speaker at a Smith and Williamson investment seminar a few of weeks ago. He forecast that Desire would be unlikely to find much oil in their area. He had been there in the 1990s. His view was that the results of Shell and others’ exploration in the 1990s indicated only small traces of oil and a similar result was likely this time round.
He indicated that Falkland Oil and Gas will be drilling the Toroa prospect end April and explained Toroa is to the south of the Falkland Islands in a completely different type of rock formation to Desire’s. Fogl’s prospects of finding oil are unconnected to the Desire results and as such the Desire results should have no bearing on Toroa.
Tim Bushell told the audience that he had great hopes over Toroa. It was the best area to start given the rig that was available in the Falklands. It will provide important information about the rock strata in FOGL's area and will be of great use in deciding the placing the deep water rig that BHPBilliton/Fogl hopes to use towards the end of this year.
The most important is prospect is Loligo which is deeper than Toroa but it is much larger. Loligo is the prime target. They hope to secure a rig by the end of the year.
IMO, all in all it sounds like they are using the Toroa prospect to gather information rather than expecting a major strike. It’s a longer term investment and may have a low after Toroa if it’s doesn’t come up with a find. The real value of Toroa may be to the information it provides with a side chance of a find.

Desire upbeat over Falklands oil prospects

      20th April 2010
      Duncan Tift

By Duncan Tift - Deputy Editor, West Midlands

MALVERN-registered oil and gas exploration company Desire Petroleum said today it remained upbeat about its drilling prospects in the North Falkland Basin.

The company saw shares plummet by more than 60% last month when it appeared that its latest drilling operation off the Falkland Islands would not produce oil in commercial quantities.

In its preliminary results statement today, chairman Stephen Phipps- announcing a full year loss of $3.77m – said the period had been an eventful one, culminating in a gas discovery on the Liz 14/19-1 well, the drilling of which was completed earlier this month.

He said further analysis of the Liz 14/19-1 well operations was taking place and shareholders would be updated in due course.

"It has been an exciting year for Desire and the company has made much progress in the period,” said Mr Phipps.

“Further detailed analysis on the Liz well is currently being carried out and we look forward to updating shareholders on the results when the analysis is completed within the next couple of months.

“We remain upbeat about the resource potential within the North Falkland Basin and look forward to recommencing drilling later this year."

Desire (DES), which began its drilling in February after towing the rig on a 70-day journey from the North Sea to the Falklands, said despite the fall in share price it still had cash in hand of $88m.

The large reserve is due to a successful share placing and open offer last year which raised around £60m.

Desire said it had successfully kept costs down by subcontracting the Liz rig to Rockhopper Exploration and BHP Billiton.

The company said in its statement its exploration work was expected to resume in the third quarter of this year.

It said a report had shown there was the net potential to recover more than three billion barrels from the region, such was the level of reserves in ten prospects sprinkled around the islands.

“The results of this report have further endorsed our view of the prospectivity of the North Falkland Basin,” said Mr Phipps.

Drilling by the company of the first well in the region in over a decade ignited protests from Argentina, which claims the British territory, but Britain rejected the complaint.

"Substantial new information has been obtained from the Liz well which
will have a bearing on the remainder of the drilling campaign.
      (a) Reservoir – Liz encountered new sandstones which if better
developed elsewhere in the basin could be major targets.
      (b) The oil and gas petroleum systems have been confirmed with
the possibility of an additional wet gas system.
      (c) Liz encountered a number of different pressure regimes
indicating good seals in the basin enhancing hydrocarbon trapping
      possibilities.
      (d) The geological model for the basin has been confirmed.
The remaining Desire wells will continue to test as many as possible of
      the different play types..."

If you use £5 per barrel & with RKH 192M & DES 325M Shares in issue.
      We get Per 100mmbo - RKH £2.60 & DES £1.53 per share.

      Simple summary:
      RKH - Earnest @ 156mmbo = £4.06
      Sea Lion @ 500mmbo = £13

      DES - Rachel @ 179mmbo = £2.74
      Anne @ 202mmbo = £3.09
      Jacinta @ 1100mmbo = £16.83

Lots of variables in terms of confidence & overall commerciality. The way things are at the moment I just half the NAVs above, to get a feel for what we might get in this flakey AIM market.

I look forward to the following to bolster the overall confidence:
1/ Positive Impact of any multiple strikes & high success rate
      2/ A shift to FTSE 250
3/ Publication of revised targets & plan for next stage of exploration
4/ Announcement of production planning and/or sale of assets.(II interest?)
5/ Acquisition of 2nd Rig for 2011 campaign.

      In the mean time........
Worst case scenario for me is doubling Sea Lion 'BE Recoverable' & no further strikes up to Xmas. = SP estimates , RKH c£6.50, DES c£1

Best case = RKH c£10+, DES c£6+ (Both with c800mmbo+)
(Could be a lot higher if confidence levels shift positively)

Most likely = RKH c£8, DES c£4 (Based on 'Murphy's Law')

      So from here:
RKH = Safe 'Double yer money'
DES = Better potential, but more risk.

      My personal opinion/view only.

      Desire Petroleum plc PR

Desire Petroleum plc (AIM,DES) the exploration company focusing on the North Falkland Basin is pleased to announce that, at the Annual General Meeting of the Company held today, all resolutions were passed.

      Share

Desire is very encouraged by the two wells of the current North Falkland Basin campaign drilled to date, with Liz (Desire operated) resulting in the discovery of gas and gas condensate and Sea Lion (Rockhopper operated) resulting in an oil discovery. Both of these wells have yielded much new information leading to a much greater understanding of the hydrocarbon potential of the North Falkland Basin. A great deal of work is now underway analysing all these new data to identify the prime targets for drilling later in the campaign. These wells represent a milestone in the North Falkland Basin exploration proving that hydrocarbons (oil and gas) have been generated and trapped.

The Sea Lion discovery is very exciting, discovering oil in a good quality sandstone reservoir. This has significantly de-risked oil exploration, particularly on the eastern flank of the basin where Desire has a strong acreage position. Desire has identified a number of potential sandstone fans of the same play type as Sea Lion including the Rachel, Ninky and Anna prospects. The Competent Persons Report produced for Desire by Senergy (UK) Limited in October last year shows gross mean unrisked prospective recoverable resources of 318 MMbo and 122 MMbo for the Rachel and Ninky prospects respectively. It is now Desire's intention to drill the Rachel prospect as its next well, subject to all the necessary approvals, when the rig returns to Desire later in the year. Extensive studies are now being carried out on the 3D seismic data, mapping the distribution of potential sandstone fans on the eastern flank, and further drilling in this area is likely early in the campaign.

The Liz well, which was drilled on the western flank of the basin discovered gas in two zones and analysis of the samples has confirmed the lower zone as dry gas (high methane and low liquid content) and the upper zone as gas condensate with a condensate/gas ratio of 95 barrels/MMscf and condensate of 49.5 API. Work is now concentrating on mapping the size of these accumulations and obtaining a better understanding of the reservoir quality. Given the complexity of this work, which involves seismic re-processing and modelling, it will take a number of months to complete. The results of the oil indications in the Liz and Beth fans are also being followed up to determine if better quality sandstone reservoir may be present updip. Only when all this work is finished will it be possible to decide on how best to proceed with the evaluation of this area.

Desire Petroleum confident ahead of Falklands campaign
      13 September, 2010

Desire Petroleum chairman Stephen Phipps has said the company may drill up to four wells back-to-back as part of its renewed Falklands campaign.

UK-based Desire Petroleum has expressed confidence in its upcoming drilling campaign in the North Falkland Basin (NFB).

In an announcement to the London Stock Exchange, Desire claimed that drilling in the NFB had started "very positively", with its first well, named Liz, discovering gas in two zones and with Rockhopper Exploration finding a potentially significant oil field on the Sea Lion prospect.

"The confirmation of oil in the NFB has clearly significantly de-risked the rest of the drilling campaign," Desire chairman Stephen Phipps said.

"With the Ocean Guardian rig due to return to Desire within the month, we now enter an exciting period of drilling activity which may see us drilling up to four wells back-to-back."

The comments came as Desire revealed a £4.1 million loss in the six months to June 30th.

Desire's Liz well spudded in February and was announced as a gas discovery in April with dry gas and wet gas being encountered in two separate zones.

A Falklands Gusher: UK Looks For An Oil Rich Payback

Two hundred million barrels of oil is a drop in the ocean compared to the reservoir that produced the voluminous gusher of BP’s Gulf of Mexico oil spill. It is just 120 days’ worth of consumption in the UK or a mere 10 days of US consumption. But Rockhopper Exploration’s announcement in May that it had struck oil in the North Falklands region at the first drilled well threatens a bitter-sweet drama of its own for David’s Cameron new British administration.

The strike, the first in the Falklands Basin, could, according to the British Geological Survey, prove to be the first fruits for a region that could prove to be Britain’s new “North Sea.” Signs of an investor frenzy setting in have sent share prices rocketing. But the early find has already significantly ratcheted up tensions with Argentina – and talk of a second Falklands War.

      Falkland Energy Map

The early strike in Rockhopper’s Sea Lion prospect saw its share price surge by 500 percent. It also led to, albeit more modest, jumps in the share price of its other British rivals, Desire, Arcadia and Argos, operating licensed tranches in the north Falklands Basin.

Operating the Ocean Guardian rig, Rockhopper hit a 175 foot-thick band of layered oil deposits, the thickest layer being 75 foot, after 20 days of drilling to a depth of 9,000 feet. After the initial announcement, the company confirmed the oil was of a “high quality reservoir interval with very good porosity and permeability” with “no oil/water contact encountered.” The company has a flow test for the prospect scheduled and is set to sink four more wells in the area.

A conservative estimate of reserves across the Falklands Basin suggests a minimum recovery of 3.5 billion barrels of oil. The estimate of the British Geographical Society suggests around 60 billion barrels, the equivalent of the UK’s North Sea deposits. Though such a figure, as some oil executives have told the UK’s Channel 4 News, may be an optimistic figure. Even so, with an additional assessment of 9 trillion cubic feet of gas deposits, the finds could prove transformational to Britain’s long-term debt problem; as well as making millionaire “oil barons” of the island’s 3,000 residents.

Placing of 16,294,600 new ordinary shares at 140 pence each to raise GBP22.8
      million
      Highlights
      · Desire to raise GBP22.8 million through a placing of new shares at 140
      pence each
      · Placing proceeds will be used to acquire and process further 3D seismic
      over the Desire acreage
      · Ocean Guardian rig due to revert to Desire imminently to drill Rachel
      prospect
Desire Petroleum Plc (AIM:DES), the exploration company focussing on the North
Falkland Basin ("NFB"), is pleased to announce the successful placing of
16,294,600 shares at 140 pence each to raise GBP22.8 million before expenses.
The new shares have been placed by Seymour Pierce with a range of new and
      existing institutional and other investors.
These funds will be predominantly used to acquire and process further 3D seismic
over the Desire acreage on the east flank of the NFB in Tranches D and F.
Following the Sea Lion oil discovery by Rockhopper Exploration plc
("Rockhopper"), Desire has concentrated on identifying prospects in the same
play type as Sea Lion and has outlined a fan sandstone play fairway in the
eastern flank. These fan sandstones can only be fully identified on 3D data and
currently Desire has 3D coverage over only half of this fairway on its acreage.
Desire believes that it is essential that it acquires and processes new 3D
seismic data as quickly as possible in order to fully understand the potential
      of this play.
Tenders for a 3D seismic survey have been received and Desire intends to award a
contract for the acquisition and processing of the survey in the near future.
In addition, discussions are underway with other NFB oil operators regarding a
joint seismic program that could go some way to mitigate the significant cost of
the mobilisation/demobilisation of a seismic vessel to Falkland waters. The
Board of Desire currently expects that the seismic programme will begin in
      December 2010.
Now that Rockhopper has concluded the successful flow test on the Sea Lion
discovery, the Ocean Guardian drilling rig will revert to Desire to drill a
number of its prospects. The first to be drilled will be the Rachel prospect
and a further announcement will be made once the well has been spudded.

Antwort auf Beitrag Nr.: 40.226.705 von BaronOppenSAL am 28.09.10 19:44:26(...) According to Evolution Securities analyst David Farrell, Desire Petroleum’s (LON: DES) Rachel well - the next to be drilled in the Falklands - could be worth more than 520p per share. (...)

(Basis aktuell 193 Mio Aktien, Kurs 480 Pence)

LONDON, Oct 27 (Reuters) - Shares in Desire Petroleum more than doubled on Wednesday following internet bulletin board speculation of a bid approach for the Falkland Islands-focused explorer and an oil find, traders said. An approach at two pounds per share was being talked about, one unnamed trader told Reuters. Desire, whose shares later pared earlier gains to trade up 50 percent at 99 pence at 1012 GMT, could not be reached for comment. Desire said earlier in October it would drill a sidetrack well on its Rachel prospect in the North Falklands basin after the original well failed to find oil. It said on Oct. 15 the sidetrack would take 20 days to drill. [ID:nLDE69E099] "I would expect a statement from the company very soon because the share price has just rocketed and that indicates that there is some leakage somewhere as far as the news goes, and given the direction it's gone, it would indicate it's positive," said Westhouse Securities analyst David Hart

Oil find brightens outlook for Falklands

      Robin Pagnamenta Energy Editor
      December 3 2010 12:01AM

Desire Petroleum delivered a rebuke to sceptics yesterday when it became the second company to announce an oil discovery off the Falkland islands. The find bolstered hopes that the region would one day become a significant producing region.
In an announcement that could exacerbate tensions over the islands’ sovereignty with Argentina, Desire said that its offshore Rachel North well had been drilled to a depth of more than 3 kilometres and discovered a 57-metre thick belt of oil interspersed with layers of sand and shale.
Desire said that it planned to undertake further studies of the drilling results to establish how much oil was present. It will take at least five years for the discoveries to enter the production phase but further drilling is planned over the coming months.
The discovery delighted investors, with shares in Desire soaring more than 50 per cent at one stage yesterday before settling back to close up 26 per cent at 132¼p, valuing the company at more than £362 million. The company drilled its first well in the region in March. But this was found to be dry, triggering a 49 per cent slide in the shares.
Stephen Phipps, Desire’s chairman, said: “This discovery confirms our belief that the North Falkland Basin is highly prospective and that further oil fields will be discovered in this area.”
The Rachel North well lies more than 100km north of the islands, which Argentina refers to as Islas Malvinas. The South American nation has repeatedly objected to exploration in the area and has insisted that all ships from the Falklands would need to obtain permits to dock there.
It was the second discovery in the area this year after Rockhopper Exploration’s Sea Lion find nearby in May.
Richard Griffith, oil analyst at Evolution Securities, said in a note to clients that “the initial indications are good”.
Nick Copeland, analyst at Oriel Securities, estimated that the discovery could contain 50 to 150 million barrels of oil.

Rachel North Well 14/15-2 Drilling Update

Desire Petroleum plc (AIM:DES) the oil and gas company wholly focussed on the North Falkland Basin, today provides the following update on the latest logging results from the 14/15-2 Rachel North well which, following additional wireline data, will be plugged and abandoned with oil shows .

The results from the new logging data can be summarised as follows:

      1. As announced on 2 December 2010 preliminary results from the interpretation of the initial log data indicated that the well had encountered a 349m gross interval of sands and shales with hydrocarbons, of which 57m was net pay in multiple zones.

      2. However sampling of the main sand has shown that the hydrocarbons are residual and that the mobile fluid is water.

      3. Analysis of the formation water recovered by sampling indicates much lower salinity than anticipated and when this value is incorporated into a revised log interpretation it is confirmed that the sands are water bearing. The salinity impacts the resistivity of the formation water (Rw) which is used to calculate the saturation of hydrocarbons in sands. Using industry standard procedures, the initial interpretation was based on a calculated Rw value from a clear water sand only 55m above the target sand, of the same stratigraphic age and depositional setting. This calculated value was consistent with measurements from other wells in the basin. Unexpectedly, the actual Rw value in the sample taken from the main sand turned out to be markedly different and the target sand is now interpreted to be water-bearing.

      4. Formation pressures and sampling confirm the presence of good reservoir quality in the upper sands.

      5. A deeper target is still interpreted to be oil bearing, but the interval is thin and reservoir quality is poor.

The wells drilled by Desire in the Rachel area have identified five fan systems of varying areal extent and reservoir properties. Good reservoir development has been recorded in a number of the fans. Some of the sands are of a similar age to the sands in Rockhopper Exploration's Sea Lion discovery. All of these fans will now be remapped incorporating the data from the wells to identify areas where better quality reservoir can be expected and stratigraphic traps developed. As these fans can only be mapped on 3D seismic, final mapping will therefore need to await the new 3D data acquisition, which is expected to commence shortly.

The company will now proceed with collecting the final logging data prior to plugging and abandoning this well. A full evaluation of all the data will then be undertaken. After completion of the Rachel North well the rig will move to drill the Dawn/Jacinta prospect in Tranche I in which Desire has a 100 percent interest. This prospect is independent of Rachel and is targeting sands at a number of levels and will explore the prospectivity on the southern margin of the basin immediately updip from the main oil source rock.

After the Dawn/Jacinta well, Desire is likely to drill another well at a location as yet still to be decided but the forward drilling schedule is still to be finalised.

Desire's current cash balances are circa £75 million GBP equivalent. These funds will enable us to drill the Dawn/Jacinta well, an additional well and to cover our 3D seismic costs.

Commenting on the well, Stephen Phipps Chairman of Desire said:

"Having seen the highly encouraging results from the first logs, the LWD, PEX and CMR, on this well, plus accompanying oil shows, it is extremely disappointing that the subsequent wireline logs and fluids sampling have dashed all the earlier promise of this being Desire's first oil discovery in the North Falkland Basin. Despite this setback, the presence of hydrocarbons and good reservoir development have been identified in a number of the Rachel fan sands and we therefore continue to believe in the prospectivity of the East Flank Play fairway for future oil discoveries."

Rachel North Well 14/15-2 Drilling Update (6th December 2010)

Phoned Desire this morning after phoning a couple of weeks ago and being told all the BoD were “travelling” and that someone would call me back - no one did. Also tried emailing before that but no reply. When I phoned today I got the “Hello, Phipps and Co” and expected a fob off but when I asked to speak to a Desire director there was a short awkward pause and a “yes?” I asked who I was speaking to and Stephen Phipps introduced himself. Throughout our conversation he seemed relaxed, at ease and quite happy to talk with me. He gave me the impression of confidence and enthusiasm.

      I asked about Acadia:-

Were they still farmed in and why hadn’t we heard anything from them? I explained that to me their involvement was a good third party endorsement of Desire’s prospects and that their silence was disconcerting.

It was explained that as they were a private company they do not need to inform the market of their plans were but that they were still involved. I asked that if this should change would Desire need to inform the market? He said yes. I asked that should Arcadia pull out had some kind of penalty clause been written into the farm in contract? He said no but Arcadia was listed as a joint licensee with Desire on the new acreage containing the Alpha prospect and as such had certain obligations to meet (by 2012?) with F.I.G. He didn’t mention what the obligations were.

      Funding:-

I said that the last RNS stated that Desire had £75m left for drilling and obtaining seismic and that I understood that £20m was for the seismic? I said that this seemed a lot as compared to the last 3D seismic taken back in 2004? And could some of the £20m go into the drilling fund should it be required?

He replied that the 2004 seismic was for a smaller area and at the time of contract seismic companies were in a bit of a slump and therefore DES got a very good deal. He said that since then seismic survey costs had bounced back up. He also said that the new seismic was for a larger area and the latest kit was being used. He said that there may be a bit of contingency in the £20m but that was prudent. I said that the remaining £55m sounded much more than was needed for just two wells. He said it wasn’t just for the rig but also for the supply ships and onshore back-up. He said that $12m (£8m) had to be set aside in an escrow FIG bank account as part of the licence terms. This was to cover costs should DES go bust etc. SP quoted example of the North Sea Co (Oilex?) and the financial mess it caused when it went bust!

      Rachel oil to water RNS:-

I said there was a lot of anger directed at the BoD on BB’s over this but stated that I personally thought Senergy were to blame. He defended Senergy and reaffirmed that they did everything to accepted industry standards. I personally feel this was just plain bad luck. I queried the logic of drilling effectively three wells at Rachel. He said once they had found something interesting in the sidetrack it made sense to investigate it further with another well. With Master Shamus’ recent posts in mind I asked what the percentage of oil to water was? He said he didn’t know and that the samples are still in the Falkands awaiting shipping to the UK for further analysis. I tried again and prompted was it 10%, 20% , 30%? He said again he didn’t know. I asked if this info would be made public before the Dawn/Jacinta well. He replied that it isn’t easy getting things to and from the Falklands ie one flight a week… I asked when the logs would be made public? He said he didn’t know if they would!

      Jacinta/Dawn

I asked if it would be better to let RKH have the rig now, have a rest and give time for DES/Senergy to pick through the info before using our remaining drills. He agreed but said RKH weren’t ready to take the rig yet so DES had no other option. I asked if this was because the EIA wasn’t ready ? He said, no , he didn’t mean that. They needed to complete their geological well plan first.

Operations Update Desire Petroleum plc (DES:AIM) the oil and gas company wholly focussed on the North Falkland Basin, wishes to provide the following operations update. Dawn / Jacinta Spud The Company is pleased to advise that the Dawn/Jacinta 25/5-1 well was spudded at 14.40 hrs (GMT) on 18th December 2010. The well is located in Tranche I in which Desire has a 100% interest. The well has targets at two levels. The Jacinta prospect is a Lower Cretaceous stratigraphic sand pinch out trap with a target depth of around 1,000 metres. The deeper Dawn prospect is a 3-way dip, fault bounded closure with a target depth of around 1,350 metres. The total depth of the well is planned to be around 1,670 metres and is expected to take 30 days to complete. Announcements will be made once logging is complete at each of the targets or as appropriate. Ocean Guardian After the Dawn/Jacinta well, it is planned that Rockhopper Exploration ("Rockhopper") will take the rig for 1 or 2 slots before the rig returns to Desire to drill a well at a location still to be decided. A further announcement will be made on the rig movements once details have been finalized. 3D Seismic Activity The 3D seismic vessel Polarcus Nadia has commenced operations on the new 3D seismic programme in the North Falkland Basin in a joint survey with Rockhopper. Operations are expected to be complete by the end of April 2011. The Desire part of the programme will result in full 3D seismic coverage over the prospective East Flank Play Fairway on Desire acreage. Desire estimates that only circa 40% of this play is currently covered by 3D data within the Desire operated licences. The new 3D seismic is required to identify and map the target sands in this play. The priority area, where operations have started, is in the north east of Tranche D. The existing 3D survey will be reprocessed and merged with the new data to provide consistent, high quality 3D data over all of the play fairway on Desire acreage. The final merged data are expected to be available for interpretation during Q3 2011. Dawn Well Operational Update

Desire Petroleum plc (AIM:DES) the company wholly focussed on the North Falkland Basin, advises that the 25/5-1 well on the Dawn/Jacinta prospect has reached a total depth of 1,697 metres in pre-rift sediments.

Based on preliminary drilling and wireline logging data there are no significant hydrocarbons in the Dawn prospect and the well will be plugged and abandoned with gas shows around 1,434 metres. The lithology in the section from 1,313 to 1,697 metres is predominantly claystone and good quality sandstone with 71 metres of net reservoir based on initial log analysis.

Wireline logging and abandonment operations will now be completed and the rig will then go to Rockhopper Exploration to drill 1 or 2 wells, subject to regulatory approval, before returning to Desire to drill a well at a location still to be finalised and subject to regulatory approval.

The Dawn well was testing a significant fault block at the southern margin of the main basin, some 28 km from previous well control, with primary reservoir targets in the syn-rift and pre-rift. These targets are stratigraphically older than the reservoirs in the East Flank play. The implication of the well results for remaining prospectivity in this part of the basin will be assessed once the new data has been integrated and all post-well studies are completed.

Subsurface support is provided to Desire Petroleum by Senergy (GB) Ltd and the results reported today are based on the work of the Senergy operations team.

      Desire Petroleum abandons Falklands well

A handful of companies are exploring in the Falklands, with hopes of an oil bonanza fuelled by recent finds in deep water off Brazil

      Tuesday 4 January 2011 10.44 GMT

Desire Petroleum has decided to abandon a well off the Falkland Islands after failing to find oil, dealing another big blow to hopes of an oil bonanza in the area.

Those hopes were triggered by the first discovery of oil in the Falklands by Rockhopper Exploration last spring, but rival Desire has not been so lucky. News of the latest dry well sent its shares crashing 23%, or 11p, to 36.75p this morning.

Last month Desire admitted that fluid found in its Rachel North well in the area was water, not oil. Today's news relates to another well, known as Dawn/Jacinta. Desire announced last week that "no hydrocarbons have been found" after drilling 1,313m, but carried on drilling deeper.

Today it said the well had reached 1,697m but there were still "no significant hydrocarbons" so the well will be plugged and abandoned.

A handful of companies are exploring in the Falklands, with hopes of an oil bonanza fuelled by recent finds in deep water off Brazil. Crude oil prices hovered around $91 a barrel today, the highest in more than two years.

The pressure is now on Rockhopper, which was set up in 2004, to unearth more oil following its Sea Lion discovery in May. The rig used by Desire has been subcontracted to Rockhopper and BHP Billiton. It is now going to Rockhopper to drill one or two wells, before returning to Desire to drill a new well at a location still to be finalised.

Both Aim-listed companies were set up to explore for oil and gas in the North Falkland Basin.

The drilling in the South American region has led to new tension between Britain and Argentina, nearly 30 years after the 1982 Falklands war. Argentina recently passed a law that includes the disputed islands within the Tierra del Fuego province and declared the Desire drilling illegal.

British military exercises and oil exploration around the islands, known in Argentina as the Malvinas, which Britain has held since 1833, were condemned by Argentina's foreign ministry yesterday. It said the actions created "an insurmountable obstacle to the continuation and development of bilateral cooperation" through the "provisional bilateral understanding" reached after the war.

FALKLANDS oil explorer DESIRE PETROLEUM faces legal action over its hapless search for black gold in the South Atlantic.

A group of furious investors are demanding at least £350,000 in compensation over a botched announcement in December.

Shares soared by as much as 50 per cent on December 2 when Desire claimed it had made an "oil discovery" at its Rachel well.

Just four days later Desire said further tests showed the hydrocarbons were in fact water.

A spokesman for the Desire Action Group told Sun City: "As a direct result of the announcement on December 2, people took positions in Desire they would not have taken before.

"What happened is unacceptable. We have put in complaints to AIM (the junior stock market), the Financial Services Authority and we are talking to lawyers today."

So far more than 20 investors who bought stock on December 2 have signed up.

Other shareholders can join by contacting desiredisaster@ btinternet.com.

      Desire refused to comment yesterday.

Please note the action group is only open to people who bought full equities (not CFDs) as a result of the 2nd December RNS; not, for the avoidance of doubt, people who owned before but didnt sell becuase of it - your case will not be dealt with by this group.

Published 01.02.2011 11:38:15 by John Bradbury
Desire Petroleum has confirmed its plan to drill on the Ninky prospect off the Falkland Islands when a rig becomes available again in either March or April.

Rockhopper Exploration is currently operating with the Ocean Guardian semi-submersible on an appraisal well at the Sea Lion oil discovery which was made last year and after that drilling programme the rig is to revert to Desire.

Analysts were due to hear of Desire’s forward plans for continuing exploration in the Falklands today during a presentation which will be publicly available later. Desire indicated today that those forward plans will include the Ninky prospect well.

Falklands’ Desire Petroleum announces drilling of sixth well has begun
The Falkland Islands hydrocarbons exploratory round begun over a year ago is steaming ahead. Desire Petroleum announced Tuesday it had begun exploratory drilling on the Ninky prospect with a total planned depth of 2.620 metres.

The Ninky prospect well 14/15-3 will be drilled to a depth of 2.620 metres

The exploration will be carried out by the ‘Ocean Guardian’ rig contracted by Desire from Diamond Offshore and which since March 2010 has been doing all the drilling in Falklands’ waters for Desire and the other oil companies licensed by the Falkland Islands government.

To date Desire has drilled five wells: Liz, Rachel, Rachel Sidetrack, Rachel North, and Dawn/Jacinta. ‘Ocean Guardian’ discovered two potential gas zones in the Liz well.

According to the release “Desire Petroleum plc (DES:AIM) the oil and gas company wholly focussed on the North Falkland Basin announces that the 14/15-3 exploration well on the Ninky prospect was spudded at 02.45 BST on 29 March 2011”.

The prospect is a combined structural dip and stratigraphic pinch-out trap with multiple reservoir targets within the Barremian source rock interval.

The well has a planned total depth of circa 2,620 metres and drilling operations are expected to take approximately 30 days. Rockhopper Exploration has a 7.5% interest in the well.

Desire is currently involved in an extensive 3D seismic programme concentrating on the East Flank Play Fairway.

Desire Petroleum plc is a UK company listed on the Alternative Investment Market (AIM), dedicated to exploring for oil and gas in the North Falkland Basin.

Ninky Well and 3D Seismic Operational Update

14/15-3 well to be plugged and abandoned with oil shows

Desire Petroleum plc (AIM:DES), the company wholly focussed on the North Falkland Basin, advises that the 14/15-3 well on the Ninky prospect has reached a total depth of 2,620 metres in the Barremian source rock interval.

      Ninky Well Results

Based on drilling and wireline logging, the well encountered two sand-prone sections in the Upper and Middle F2 intervals, which were the primary targets (2323 metres to 2334 metres and 2365 metres to 2389 metres). The sands have a combined gross thickness of 35 metres and oil shows were encountered throughout both intervals while drilling. The reservoir quality is generally poor having only 5.6 metres of net reservoir with an average porosity of 13%. A thin interval of around 1.2 metres at the top of the Middle F2 zone is interpreted to be oil bearing from log analysis.

Wireline formation pressure measurements were attempted, but no valid pressures were obtained, indicating that the reservoirs are low permeability at this location. As a result no wireline sampling was attempted. The depositional model suggests these sands are sourced from the east and therefore better reservoir quality may be expected downdip. In addition, there are indications from seismic of further sands along strike on the Ninky structural high, which were not penetrated in this well. These opportunities will be evaluated with the new 3D seismic as part of Desire's prospect inventory update.

Operations on the Ninky well will now be completed and the well will be plugged and abandoned.

      3D Seismic Update

The 3D seismic operations are ongoing with the Polarcus Nadia vessel, in a joint programme with Rockhopper. To date, approximately 1485 km2 of data have been acquired in the Desire operated part of the programme. Desire anticipates that a further 195 km2 will be acquired to complete the operated programme. The joint survey is expected to be completed during May. Processing of the new seismic data is in progress and initial indications are that data quality is good. Priority areas have been identified in the East Flank play between Ninky and Sea Lion, and over the Ann/Orca South prospect. The processed data from these priority areas is expected to be available in July. The full, merged data will be available later in the year, which will provide coverage over the southern part of the East Flank play and the Helen prospect.

Desire remains optimistic that existing prospects can be significantly de-risked using the new seismic data and that new prospects will be identified, particularly within the East Flank play which is widely developed within the Desire operated licences.

Stephen Phipps, Chairman of Desire, commented " On completion of the Ninky well Desire will have funds of circa $37 million which, while more than adequate for our share of rig and vessel demobilisation, completion of our 3D seismic acquisition, processing and interpretation plus general working capital needs, is insufficient to drill further wells. Given our continuing confidence that oil will be discovered on Desire's acreage, further wells will need to be drilled and, therefore, once the results of the Ninky well and the 3D seismic have been analysed, we will review all financing options available with the intention of rejoining the drilling campaign later in the year if possible".

Subsurface support is provided to Desire Petroleum by Senergy (GB) Ltd and the well results reported today are based on the work of the Senergy operations team.

This statement has been approved by Mr Ken Black , Exploration Director of Desire Petroleum plc, who is a member of the Petroleum Exploration Society of Great Britain , with over 30 years experience in petroleum exploration and management.

For immediate release 31 May 2011

      Desire Petroleum

      ('Desire' or 'The Company')

      Exploration Update

Desire Petroleum plc (AIM: DES) the company wholly focussed on the North Falkland Basin wishes to provide the following update on its exploration activities.

The Company's 3D seismic acquisition programme is now complete and the full-fold area of coverage is approximately 1416 square kilometres in Tranches C, D, F and adjacent open areas. Combined with Desire's existing 3D data, these new data provide almost full coverage of the East Flank Play Fairway on Desire's acreage and extended coverage of the Liz area, Ann, Pam and Helen prospects. A planned extension of the survey to the south was curtailed due to poor weather conditions.

The fully processed data for the northern part of Tranche D and the Ann prospect area are being fast-tracked and are expected to be available in July. A fully merged data set covering all prospective areas is expected to be available towards the end of 2011.

However the preliminary raw stack data have been received for the area at the northern end of Tranches C and D and the initial indications for new prospects are encouraging. In particular, two new leads, Beverley and Shona, have been identified so far. The Shona lead is at the same stratigraphic level as the Rockhopper Sea Lion discovery and extends northwards to the block boundary of Tranche D, while the Beverley lead is at a shallower stratigraphic level and is mapped wholly within Tranche D.

Commenting on the announcement Chairman Stephen Phipps said; "We are pleased with the preliminary results from the new seismic data and feel that it highlights new prospectivity within our acreage. We anticipate the prospect inventory will continue to grow as the fully processed seismic data are delivered and interpreted."

Details of these new leads and a technical update can be found in the AGM presentation to be posted after the AGM today, on Desire's website, www.desireplc.co.uk.

This statement has been approved by Ken Black, Exploration Director of Desire Petroleum plc, who is a member of the Petroleum Exploration Society of Great Britain with over 30 years experience in petroleum exploration and management.

Desire Petroleum shares drop as investors await funding news
      9:01 am by Jamie Ashcroft
      http://www.proactiveinvestors.co.uk/companies/news/32986/des…

Chairman Stephen Phipps told investors that it remains optimistic that oil will be discovered on the company’s acreage in the Falklands and it plans to rejoin the current drilling campaign when possible.
Desire Petroleum (LON:DES) shares fell around 15 per cent in early trade following the release of the company’s interim results, which failed to shed any light on the group’s funding position.

Chairman Stephen Phipps told investors that it remains optimistic that oil will be discovered on the company’s acreage in the Falklands and it plans to rejoin the current drilling campaign when possible.

However Desire has yet to explain how it will pay for this drilling work. Earlier this year the explorer’s unsuccessful drill programme came to an end in the Falklands and now the company needs to secure additional funds before it can drill any new wells.

This morning Phipps said that the group is continually reviewing all available financing options.

In the meantime Desire plans to publish an updated competent persons report for its acreage, including the new information gained through a recent seismic programme and the integration of the 2010/11 drill results.

The release of the new CPR is being pencilled in for the fourth quarter of 2011. Desire said that the new report will give an independent assessment of its new ‘high graded prospects’ in priority areas that it believes could be near-term drilling targets.

Desire is also planning to update its prospect inventory, including all the data from the recent seismic, during the first half of next year.

In terms of its financials the exploration firm - that has no revenues - revealed that, because of foreign exchange gains and a lack of exploration activity, it made a US$333,000 profit in the six months ended June 30 2011. In the comparative period of 2010, when Desire was still actively drilling, it made a US$6.3 million loss.
The group ended the period with US$34.4 million in the bank.

This morning on AIM Desire Petroleum shares were down 2.75p, around 13 per cent, trading at 18.5p each.

http://www.bnamericas.com/news/oilandgas/drilling-unlikely-u… Drilling unlikely until 2Q12 - Desire Published: Monday, September 12, 2011 14:25 (GMT-0400) By James Fowler / Business News Americas <b>London-listed Desire Petroleum (AIM: DES) is unlikely to begin drilling on its acreage off the coast of the Falkland Islands until at least 2Q12, a spokesman for the company told BNamericas. </b> Desire is currently in the process of interpreting data from recently completed seismic surveys on acreage in both the north and south Falkland basins. According to the firm's 1H11 interim financial report, initial indications are encouraging for the undrilled Shona and Beverly prospects. Once fully interpreted, Desire will seek financing to fund further drilling in the area, the spokesman added. "That [financing] is likely to come first and is most likely to be completed during the fourth quarter of this year. It is still a case of reviewing the options that are available, though it's either going to be an equity fundraising or perhaps a farm-down." Desire has spudded six wells across its Falkland's acreage, abandoning them all with limited oil shows. Desire reported a profit of US$333,000 in 1H11 compared to a loss of US$6.39mn in the same period last year thanks mainly to foreign exchange gains.

      For Immediate Release

      12 October 2011

      Desire Petroleum plc

      ("Desire" or the "Company")

      Farmout to Rockhopper Exploration

Desire Petroleum plc (AIM:DES), the exploration company wholly focused on the North Falkland Basin, is pleased to announce that it has agreed the terms of a farm-out agreement, subject to the approval of the Falkland Islands Government, with Rockhopper Exploration PLC ("Rockhopper") over the northern section of its Tranche D (PL004) licence.

The area farmed out covers approximately 23% of Tranche D and comprises part of the area over which a 3D seismic survey was completed earlier in 2011. Processing of the seismic data over the area farmed out has been fast tracked and has recently been interpreted and evaluated.

The principal terms of the farm-out, which include the commitment by Rockhopper to drill a firm well with the Ocean Guardian rig during the current drilling campaign, are as follows:

      · The area farmed out has been divided into two areas (Areas 1 and 2), details of which can be found on the Desire website (www.desireplc.co.uk). Desire still retains 92.5% of the remainder of Tranche D.

      AREA 1

      · Area 1 includes a possible extension of Rockhopper's Sea Lion oil discovery, the recently delineated Shona West prospect, the Casper West prospect and part of the Beverley prospect.

      · Rockhopper will pay 100% of the committed well in Area 1 to earn a 52.5% interest. With their existing 7.5% interest, this will bring their equity to 60% with Desire at 40%. Rockhopper will assume operatorship of this area.

      · This well will be drilled during the current campaign using the Ocean Guardian rig.

      · This transaction is subject to regulatory approvals including consent from the appropriate authorities to drill the well and the change of operatorship by November 11 2011. Discussions with the Falkland Islands Government and the other authorities are underway.

      AREA 2

      · By drilling the committed farm-in well in Area 1, Rockhopper will also earn a 17.5% interest in Area 2 which, including Rockhopper's existing 7.5% interest, will bring its equity to 25% in that area, with Desire retaining 75% equity and the operatorship.

      · Area 2 includes the recently delineated Jayne, Shona East, Casper East and Catriona prospects and the remainder of the Beverley prospect.

      · Rockhopper, subject to technical approval, will support, at their 25% equity, a well drilled in Area 2 during the current Ocean Guardian drilling campaign should Desire decide to drill a further well. Drilling this well will depend on further technical work currently being undertaken by Desire and subject to Desire raising any necessary funds.

      · This well would also be subject to all regulatory approvals.

      · The farm-out agreement is conditional upon Rockhopper raising additional capital through an equity placing.

Stephen Phipps, Chairman of Desire, commented, "We are very pleased that this agreement to farmout part of Tranche D to Rockhopper will enable another well to be drilled on our acreage in this current drilling campaign, at no further cost to Desire. Under the terms Desire still retains a significant interest in the prospectivity of Tranche D. In addition, the recently evaluated fast track 3D seismic data shot earlier this year has brought some exciting new prospects into play and underpins our core belief in the prospectivity within our acreage. A CPR containing a detailed evaluation of the new data and prospects is being finalised and will be available shortly."

Desire Petroleum plc ("Desire" or the "Company") Competent Person's Report and rig update Desire Petroleum plc (AIM:DES), the exploration company wholly focused on the North Falkland Basin, is pleased to announce the conclusions of a recently completed Competent Person's Report (CPR) on part of the Company's extensive exploration acreage in the North Falkland Basin. Desire is also pleased to give an update on the Ocean Guardian drilling rig. The CPR covers only 40% of the Company's northern licences Tranches C, D and F and is focussed on the areas of the fast-tracked fully processed 3D data covering the northern part of Tranche D (PL004) and the Ann prospect sub-area within Tranche C (PL003). Highlights · 11 prospects identified in the area covered by the fast-tracked 3D seismic data · Best estimate gross recoverable resources of 638 million barrels of oil (MMstb) · Best estimate net recoverable resources of 322 MMstb net to Desire The CPR was prepared by Senergy (GB) Limited, a major independent consultancy specialising in reservoir engineering, geology, geophysics and petroleum economics. Senergy evaluated Desire's leading prospects in the northern part of PL004, namely the Sea Lion Extension, Casper West, Casper East, Shona West, Shona East, Beverley, Jayne and Catriona, as well as the Ann/Orca South prospect in the Ann sub-area. The evaluation recognises the results of the recently completed 14/10-8 well drilled by Rockhopper Exploration PLC ("Rockhopper") to the north of the eastern part of PL004, and takes account of Desire's revised equity interests in PL004 (Area 1 and Area 2) following the farm-out to Rockhopper announced on 12 October 2011. A fully interpreted update of Desire's complete prospect inventory, including the Liz gas/condensate discovery and incorporating the full extent of the 3D seismic survey over Desire's acreage, will be prepared in the first half of 2012. The key conclusions of the CPR are as follows (all volumes are unrisked prospective resources): · 638 MMstb gross best estimate potential; high estimate gross potential of 1,207 MMstb · 322 MMstb best estimate potential net to Desire; high estimate of 605 MMstb net to Desire · At $85/bbl realised oil price, the minimum economic threshold (at NPV 10%) is 43 MMstb recoverable for a stand-alone development and 10 MMstb recoverable for a sub-sea tie back development · Prospect sizes range from 15 MMstb to 132 MMstb, with an average prospect size of 71 MMstb · The prospects include a possible extension of the Sea Lion discovery with gross best estimate potential of 59 MMstb, which will be targeted by the Rockhopper Area 1 farm-out well · Farm-out Area 2, operated by Desire with 75% equity, includes the Beverley an

      Rockhopper Exploration plc

      ("Rockhopper" or the "Company")

      14/15-4 Well Update

Rockhopper Exploration plc (AIM: RKH), the North Falkland Basin oil and gas exploration company, is pleased to provide the following update on Exploration well 14/15-4 (the "Well").

The Well penetrated multiple reservoir targets: Beverley, Casper South, Casper and Sea Lion Main Complex and was drilled on Rockhopper operated licence PL004b. The Company earned a 60% interest through the drilling of the Well.

Wireline logging and formation test data indicate the following:

All four targets are hydrocarbon bearing and no water wet sands were observed in the Well.

      Highlights

      · Total gross reservoir: 89m (292 ft)

      · Total net pay: 57m (187 ft)

      Beverley: Wet Gas Discovery

      · Gross reservoir: 27.5m (90 ft)

      · Net gas pay: 25.8m (85 ft)

      · Net to Gross: 94%

      · Reservoir quality:

      -Porosity: Average 22%, Maximum 27%

      -Permeability: Average 45mD, Maximum 144mD*

      · No gas water or gas oil contact observed

Casper South: Oil and Wet Gas Discovery

      · Gross reservoir: 24.5m (80 ft)

      · Net oil pay: 11.6m (38 ft)

      · Net gas pay: 8.5m (28 ft)

      · Net to Gross: 83%

      · Reservoir quality:

      · Casper South Gas:

      -Porosity: Average 25%, Maximum 30%

      -Permeability: Average 212mD, Maximum 1327mD*

      · Casper South Oil:

      -Porosity: Average 27%, Maximum 34%

      -Permeability: Average 1011mD, Maximum 5872mD*

      · Gas oil contact observed at 2429m mdrkb

      · No oil water contact observed

*NOTE: permeability log data is negatively affected by the presence of gas. The Company believes that the effective permeability in the Beverley and Casper South gas legs will be significantly higher than measured on the log. Permeability in Beverley is likely to be in the region of 500mD, while permeability in the Casper South gas leg will be similar to those in the Casper South oil leg.

      Casper: Successful appraisal well

      · Gross reservoir: 12m (39 ft)

      · Net oil pay: 2.4m (8 ft)

      · Net to Gross: 22%

      · Reservoir quality:

      -Porosity: Average 16%, Maximum 24%

      -Permeability: Average 33mD, Maximum 71mD

      · No oil water contact observed

Sea Lion Main Complex (SLMC): Successful appraisal well

      · Gross reservoir: 25m (82 ft)

      · Net oil pay: 8m (26 ft)

      · Net to Gross: 32%

      · Reservoir quality:

      -Porosity : Average 19%, Maximum 24%

      -Permeability: Average 80mD, Maximum 195mD

      · No oil water contact observed

The Well was located approximately 12.1 km to the south west of the 14/10-2 discovery well and 6.3 km to the south of well 14/10-9 and within the area of licence PL004b, in which Rockhopper has earned a 60% interest by drilling 14/15-4.

      Beverley

The Beverley sand was encountered at 2359m mdrkb. The Well penetrated the Beverley prospect near the crest of the structure and the gross reservoir package of 27m was approximately 10m thicker than prognosed, net gas pay was 25.8m. Reservoir quality is good with average porosity of 22% and average permeability of 44 mD. Analysis of mud logs indicate the gas is likely to be a wet gas. PVT analysis will be required to confirm the GCR. From the observed formation pressure gradients the Company believes that the gas/oil contact observed in Casper at well 14/10-9 and Casper South at well 14/15-4 is likely to exist in Beverley. As a result the Company believes Beverley may be oil bearing downdip.

      Casper South

The Casper South sand was encountered at 2420m mdrkb. Reservoir quality is good with average porosity of 25%in the gas leg and 27% in the oil leg. Average permeability was 212 m

      Boost for Falklands drilling
Published 06.01.2012 08:44:25 by John Bradbury
A drilling support consultancy is beefing up its presence in the remote Falkland Islands to prepare for a new phase of drilling there.

AGR Consultancy has doubled the size of its staff to 50 including engineers, operations, materials, and HSE specialists and supervisors to prepare for the arrival of the Leiv Eiriksson semi-submersible which is due to commence a new exploration campaign in the South Atlantic for Falklands Oil and Gas and Borders and Southern Petroleum.

At least four wells are due to be drilled in the new campaign and the move by AGR comes after the contractors has spent the last two years supplying well management staff to support the Ocean Guardian which has been drilling off the Falklands for Rockhopper Exploration and Desire Petroleum.

For the oil industry, it is the nearest thing to a speed-dating event, as small companies and wannabe oil-producing countries look to snare a big player with pockets deep enough to develop their oil and gas reserves; for the Falkland Islands, it could be a turning point. Officials from the territory will fly to Houston this week to tout for investment in the South Atlantic’s potential underwater treasure at the NAPE expo, the oil and gas industry’s largest prospect and property convention. The Falklands has featured on the conference agenda before as one of many provinces worldwide that could — one day — produce oil. But this year minnows such as Desire Petroleum and Argos Resources will be confident of attracting suitors, The Times says.

Desire Petroleum: Funding commitments in PL004b
Having farmed out two areas of its PL004 licence to Rockhopper in 2011, Desire has 40% of the Sea Lion extension and the Casper, Casper South and Beverley discoveries that are contained within PL004b. In November 2012, the company released an updated CPR highlighting an increased prospect inventory of 41 oil prospects and four gas prospects. With acreage in the East Flank fairway and to the south of Sea Lion, the portfolio here has been de-risked by drilling success at Sea Lion, which is reflected in almost a quarter of the prospects having a geological CoS of at least 30%. The company has now relinquished its southern licences to concentrate on these de- risked prospects in its northern licences. However, at end-2012, the company held cash of $10.5m and cannot fund any further drilling in the area. It plans to fund future activity through a farm-out and this process has already commenced, with a data room opened in February 2013. Desire will need to fund its share of future partner activity in PL004b, which could include exploration wells at Zebedee and George in late-2014; we estimate this would cost Desire around $36m net. In addition, the company will be liable for its share of the Sea Lion development costs, with the development currently estimated to be $3bn to first oil. Unitisation talks have yet to commence with operator Premier but are likely to take place sometime after mid-2013. However, we highlight that any agreed share will evolve as further data are gathered through appraisal drilling. The company also hopes to drill on its high-graded prospects. The most likely candidates for this are the Jayne well, targeting six separate reservoirs and gross prospective resources of 405MMSTB, and the Isobel well with three separate reservoirs and gross prospective resources of 281MMSTB. However, at present, we expect that any funds raised will have to be prioritised towards the company’s commitments in PL004b

      Desire Petroleum plc

      ("Desire" or "the Company")

      Interim Results

Desire Petroleum plc (AIM: DES), the exploration company focusing on the North Falkland Basin, today announces its interim results for the six months ended 30 June 2013.

      Highlights:

Data room opened in February 2013
Farm-out process on-going with number of companies still engaged in the process
Subject to rig availability, new exploration programme could start as early as Q4 2014
Premier Oil and Rockhopper Exploration expect one exploration well to be drilled on licence PL004b (Desire: 40%)
Unitisation of Sea Lion Oil Field not expected in Phase 1 development
Loss for the period of $1.6 million (2012 H1: $1.9 million)
Cash of $9.1 million at 30 June 2013

Stephen Phipps, Chairman of Desire Petroleum, commented:

"We are now entering an exciting period in the North Falkland Basin (NFB). The Board is pleased to note the statements from both Premier and Rockhopper that a new exploration programme for the NFB could, subject to rig availability, start as early as the final quarter of 2014.

Our current focus has been to attract investment into our NFB licences by conducting a farmout process. A data room was opened in February of this year and a number of companies have analysed the information with a smaller number still engaged in this process.

The possible recommencement of drilling activity will hopefully enable us to participate in a drilling campaign that should unlock more of the potential of our exciting prospect inventory."

LONDON, Oct 3 (Reuters) - Falkland Oil & Gas is to buy a smaller Falklands-based firm to create a company with licences to hunt for oil both to the north and south of the remote British territory in the South Atlantic.

FOGL said on Thursday it had agreed to buy Desire Petroleum , offering 0.6 FOGL "consideration" shares for each Desire share, in a deal valuing Desire at 61 million pounds ($99 million).

Desire had since earlier this year been seeking investment to be able to finance further exploration to the north of the islands, nearby to the Sea Lion oil field - the only one to be discovered so far in the islands.

FOGL, whose licences are in the south of the islands where oil is yet to be found, will through its acquisition of Desire now have a minority stake in the Sea Lion project.

The new group said it would have funds for its share of a drilling programme to include five wells across the Falklands.

The British companies hunting for oil in the waters around the largely unexplored islands are eager for further drilling to help find more fields three years after oil was struck at Sea Lion.

Argentina, defeated by Britain in a military conflict over the islands' sovereignty in 1982, has attempted to make life difficult for the British oil explorers but its hostility has not deterred the companies and oil could start pumping by 2018.

FOGL also said it had signed a new partnership deal with Premier Oil and Rockhopper for two of Desire's exploration licences, exchanging a share in two areas for funding for drilling.

Shares in Desire soared 30 percent to 16 pence, nearing the 17.76 pence level at which FOGL's offer values them. FOGL shares were down 7 percent, giving the company a market capitalisation of around 85 million pounds.

"This combination is a compelling opportunity to consolidate the portfolios of FOGL and Desire, diversifying the risk profile for both companies' shareholders and enabling the combined group to move forward with an active, long-term programme for growth in the Falkland Islands," FOGL Chief executive Tim Bushell said.

He will be chief executive of the new group in which FOGL shareholders will own 60 percent.
