Intel rückt auf NVidia auf, ATI nun Drittplatzierter

Die Auswirkungen von integrierten Chips wurde scheinbar unterschätzt. Lange hatte man geglaubt, dass integrierte Chips im Grafikchipsektor keinen Absatz finden und nur eine geringe Wirkung im Markt entfalten. Doch neueste Daten von Mercury Research sollen diesem Glauben ein Ende setzen.

So stieg der Marktanteil von Intel im gesamten Grafikproduktemarkt, der sowohl Desktop- und Notebook-Grafikchips als auch integrierte Chipsets umfasst, im dritten Quartal von 20% auf 27%, wodurch der bisher zweitplatzierte ATI Technologies auf den dritten Platz verdrängt wurde.

Obwohl NVidia und ATI Technologies in ihren Segmenten (PC & Notebook-Grafikchips) den Marktanteil weiter ausbauen konnten, bleibt die Bedeutung ihrer Produkte im gesamten Grafikproduktemarkt unterdurchschnittlich.

NVidia hatte im Kernmarkt (PC & Notebook-Grafikchips) den Marktanteil von 56% auf 58% ausgebaut, während ATI’s Anteile von 36% auf 33% zurückgingen.

Basierend auf diesen Zahlen scheint ATI Technologies von der Konkurrenz durch Intel härter betroffen zu sein, als NVidia. ATI hat allerdings eine Reihe neuer Kunden gewinnen können (mehr dazu hier) und ATI´s Händler in Taiwan, AMI Technologies, teilte Presseberichten zufolge mit, dass der Marktanteil von ATI im vierten Quartal wieder steigen soll, da die Auslieferungen der R300 und RV250 Chips an die chinesische Legend Holdings und an Dell Computer beginnen werden.

Intel Aktien fielen am Dienstag um 2.03% auf $18.35, NVidia verloren um 3.96% auf $15.02 und ATI gewannen um 2.92% auf $7.05.

die zhalken kommen erst morgen...viel interessanter wird wohl die fed entscheidung sein...sollten nach der fe-entscheiddung gewinne mitgenommen werden, dürfte es nvidia auch treffen...sogar überprportional stark..seit dem atl hat die aktie nämlich über 100% gemacht...
ich halte nvidia lanngfristig...hab sie zu 8,20€ und zu 10,30€ gekauft....eienenteil hab ich bei kursen um 16 rausgehauen....mal sehen, wi sich der markt die nächsten studnen entwickelt...ich persönlich denke, daß nvidia sehr gute zahlen melden wird....was ist eure meinung??

nach der bekanntgabe der zahlen, kam ein ausverkauf der aktie der uns für kurze zeit sogar unter die 11$ brachte....jetzt sind wir wieder bei 14$ und wie befinden uns immer näher am längerfristigen downtrend, den es zu überbrücken gilt......
bin optimistisch... hab vor den zahlen verkauft bei 15,50$ und halte mittlerweile calls mit basis 15 und 20...
wird ne interessante angelegenheit..

Nvidia bringt seine neue GeForce FX-GPU



Der Grafikchip-Hersteller Nvidia hat gestern den neuen Grafikprozessor GeForce FX, den Nachfolger vom GeForce4, vorgestellt. Der Chip wird vom Halbleiterhersteller TSMC mit einer 0,13 Mikrometer-Architektur hergestellt, was Taktraten bis zu 500 MHz ermöglichen soll. Für die Berechnungen sind dabei 125 Millionen Transistoren zuständig. Die GPU kann mit DDR2-Speichern bei einem BUS-Takt von einem Gigahertz zusammenarbeiten, teilte der Hersteller auf der Fachmesse Comdex in Las Vegas mit.
Grafikkarten, die mit der GeForce FX ausgerüstet sind, haben eine deutlich höhere Stromaufnahme als bisherige Geräte, was einen direkten Anschluss an das Netzteil des Rechners notwendig macht. Steht lediglich die Energiezufuhr über den PCI-Slot zur Verfügung, wird die Leistung des Chips automatisch gesenkt. Die anfallende Abwärme will Nvidia per Heatpipe aus dem Gehäuse leiten.

In der Vermarktung rückt das kalifornische Unternehmen eine realistischere Grafikdarstellung in den Vordergrund während bisher vor allem auf höhere Frame-Raten Wert gelegt wurde. MCI, Voodoo, Fujitsu Siemens und andere haben bereits Produkte unter Verwendung der GPU, die unter der Bezeichnung NV30 entwickelt wurde, angekündigt. Mit GeForce FX 5800 und 5800 Ultra sollen die ersten beiden Versionen ab Januar zu einem Großhandelspreis von 399 bzw. 499 Dollar verfügbar sein. (ck)

NVidia: Nachfrage "sehr gut"

Zwar ist die Nachfrage nach PCs schwach, doch erfreut sich der Hersteller von leistungsstarken Grafikchips Nvidia "sehr guter" Nachfrage.

NVidia, die Aktie mit der besten Wertentwicklung im S&P 500 Index im Jahr 2001, sah seine Aktien in diesem Jahr angesichts einer Behördenermittlung, schwacher Juli-Quartalszahlen und Streitigkeiten über Verkaufspreise mit dem Großkunden Microsoft fallen.

Die Nachfrage nach Nvidia`s GeForce 4 Ti 4200 und 4600 Chips sei "sehr gut," so Finanzvorstand Marv Burkett in einem Reuters-Interview.

Am Freitag stuften die Analysten von UBS Warburg die Aktie von Hold auf Reduzieren ab und bezog sich dabei auf den starken Wettbewerb im Sektor, der vermutlich einen deutlichen Preisdruck erzeugen würde.

Über die Ermittlungen der US-Börsenaufsicht SEC sei nichts neues bekannt, so Burkett. Die Ermittlung konzentriere sich auf das Timing von Preissenkungen und auf Rücklagen, die das Unternehmen in den Jahren 2000 und 2001 bildete.

Der PC-Sektor verhalte sich in etwa so, wie dies Intel im Oktober prognostizierte. Intel sagte, dass der Computersektor im Vorfeld der wichtigen Weihnachtszeit schwach bleibe.

"Ich sehe mich nicht veranlasst, dass zu bezweifeln," sagt Burkett. "Ich habe nicht das Gefühl, dass irgendjemand denkt, dass das ein robustes Umfeld ist."

Die NVidia Aktie schloss am Freitag bei $15.72.

Based in Paris, France, CGG is a leading supplier of geophysical services and products with an international reputation for gathering high quality seismic data from around the world, both on land and offshore, on behalf of oil and gas companies. Processing the seismic data is a complex task due to the large volumes of data that must be processed in order to generate accurate images of the earth``s subsurface for the subsequent identification of gas and oil.
