Employment in Canada Decreased by 7,100 Jobs in December 2017
TORONTO, ON--(Marketwired - Jan 18, 2018) - Employment in Canada decreased by 7,100 jobs from November to December according to the December ADP® Canada National Employment Report. Broadly distributed to the public each month, free of charge, the ADP Canada National Employment Report is produced by the ADP Research Institute®. The report, which is derived from actual ADP payroll data, measures the change in total nonfarm payroll employment each month on a seasonally-adjusted basis.

"The job market in Canada softened in the month of December," said Ahu Yildirmaz, vice president and co-head of the ADP Research Institute. "Despite strong gains in finance, construction and professional services, we saw losses in manufacturing, education and trade. Looking at all of 2017, Canada added more than 315,000 new jobs with an average of approximately 26,000 jobs per month."

The November total of jobs added was revised down from 59,200 to 58,800.
