Hagens Berman Attorneys Alert Owners and Lessees of MyFord Touch-Equipped Ford and Lincoln Vehicles to File Claim in $17 Million Settlement
Attorneys at Hagens Berman are urging owners and lessees of MyFord Touch-equipped Ford and Lincoln vehicles to claim their portion of a preliminarily approved $17 million settlement reached with Ford that can mean up to $400 back in the pockets of those who have been plagued by Ford’s faulty MyFord Touch infotainment system.
Owners and lessees of new or used vehicles equipped with MyFord Touch that were acquired from a Ford dealer before Aug. 9, 2013, have until Sept. 20, 2019, to file a claim.
The lawsuit states that the MyFord Touch infotainment touchscreen system often crashes and freezes while the vehicle is in motion, fails to respond to repeated voice and touch commands, provides inaccurate GPS information and is unable to connect to mobile devices. The MyFord Touch was installed in a variety of different Ford vehicles with model years between 2011 – 2013.
The settlement claims process is quick and can mean a cash card payment of up to $400 for those who have had three or more repairs made to their MyFord Touch infotainment systems. Those who have had two repairs receive $250, those who have had one repair receive $100, and those who had no repairs, but were dissatisfied with the MyFord Touch system can receive $45 if a claim is made.
The MyFord Touch settlement website also features a searchable database of repairs for owners who do not remember how many repairs they had.
Class members who also made any out-of-pocket cash repairs related to their MyFord Touch infotainment system (i.e. outside of warranty) can also visit the website during the claims period to file a claim. There, they can attach documentation showing the out-of-warranty repairs and can apply for reimbursement.
Who Can Submit a Claim?
Anyone who purchased or leased a new or used Ford or Lincoln vehicle equipped with MyFord Touch from an authorized Ford or Lincoln dealer in one of these states before Aug. 9, 2013 may be a member of the classes and eligible to make a claim: California, Massachusetts, New Jersey, North Carolina, Ohio, Virginia or Washington.
How Do I Make a Claim?
You can also choose to object, comment or exclude yourself from the settlement, or do nothing. If no claim is made, Ford will automatically mail between $20-55 to class members who are original owners of the class vehicles.
Visit the MyFord Touch settlement website at www.myfordtouchclassaction.com for more information about the settlement. Owners may also reach the settlement administrator with inquiries via email at Administrator@MyFordTouchClassAction.com or via phone by calling 1-833-402-1732.
