Northern Trust Asset Management Strengthens Private Wealth Sales and Distribution
Northern Trust Asset Management (NTAM), a leading global investment management firm with $1.2 trillion in assets under management as of June 30, 2024, announced two strategic hires focused on serving Northern Trust Wealth Management. Michael Gottesman, CIMA, CPWA has joined as National Sales Manager, Wealth Management and Wesley Urick has joined as Head of Strategic Accounts, Wealth Management.
Gottesman will lead sales and client service strategy delivering investment expertise, differentiated solutions and a robust client experience to Northern Trust Wealth Management. Urick will spearhead NTAM’s strategic relationship with Northern Trust Wealth Management’s Investment Practice, to proactively understand their needs and offer a competitive product and service platform. Gottesman and Urick are based in Chicago and report to NTAM Wealth Client Group Co-Heads Sunitha Thomas, CFA and Suzanne Casey.

Gottesman is a 27-year industry veteran who has held sales leadership positions at Invesco and Oppenheimer Funds. Most recently, he was Senior Vice President and Central Divisional Sales Director at Invesco. Previously, he spent over 20 years at Oppenheimer Funds in a variety of roles focused on intermediary clients. Gottesman holds an MBA from the University of Michigan Ross School of Business and a bachelor’s degree from Binghamton University.
Urick brings more than 30 years of sales and investment management expertise to NTAM. Most recently, Urick was Director of Global Banks and Subadvisory, Strategic Client Group at Principal Asset Management. Prior to Principal, he spent 15 years at BlackRock in sales and business development leadership roles, including as Senior Relationship Manager for National Accounts. Earlier in his career he held a variety of sales and trading roles at Wilshire Associates, Inc., Robert W. Baird & Co., and Morgan Stanley Dean Witter. Urick holds an MBA from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business and a bachelor’s degree from the University of Illinois.
