    California American Water Proudly Recognizes American Water Charitable Foundation 2025 Water and Environment Grantees

    The American Water Charitable Foundation, a philanthropic non-profit organization established by American Water (NYSE: AWK), the largest regulated water and wastewater utility company in the U.S., recently announced 10 organizations were awarded a 2025 Water and Environment grant, totaling $157,900, supporting communities served by California American Water.

    “Monterey Audubon is thrilled to receive grant funding from the American Water Charitable Foundation to further our work conserving birds through direct action in the community,” said Shannon Simpson, Executive Director of the Monterey Audubon Society, which was awarded a grant. “Cal Am and Monterey Audubon share a common goal of protecting our local environment and the outdoor education program partnership with CHISPA really adds to the benefit.”

    The Water and Environment grant is part of the American Water Charitable Foundation’s Keep Communities Flowing Grant Program, focusing on three pillars of giving: Water, People and Communities.

    “Our Foundation’s Water and Environment grant program embodies our deep commitment to the interconnectedness of water, people, and the communities we serve,” said California American Water President Kevin Tilden. “Through this initiative, we are investing in projects that help ensure a sustainable and resilient water future, empower individuals through access and education, and strengthen the vitality of the communities we call home.”

    Below is a list of 2025 grantees throughout California American Water’s service communities.

    Monterey Peninsula Audubon Society - Awarded $8,300 for its ADI Wings & Wonders Program in partnership with CHISPA Housing, providing outdoor education programs for youth.

    Museum Foundation of Pacific Grove - $16,600 for the Educating the Next Generation of Environmentalists program to refresh conservation messaging in “Changes” exhibit, including three new classroom kits for grades 3-5.

    Nature Nexus Institute - Awarded $10,000 for its Ballona Creek Watershed Community Engagement program that educates students and local community about watershed health through hands-on habitat restoration activities.

    Sacramento Splash - $15,000 for the Youth Environmental Leadership Camp (YELC), an environmental summer camp for 6th/7th graders to educate and help understand the value and protection of the outdoors.

    North Coast Resource Conservation & Dev. Council - Awarded $25,000 for its Kids Creek Care: Conservation Action in Mark West Creek, an environmental education program promoting water conservation and biodiversity in Mark West Creek.
