NEW YORK, Jan. 12, 2026 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- At the end of the settlement date of December 31, 2025, short interest in 3,498 Nasdaq Global Market^SM securities totaled 15,183,396,236 shares compared with 15,012,659,234 shares in 3,486 Global Market issues reported for the prior settlement date of December 15, 2025. The December short interest represents 2.83 days compared with 2.90 days for the prior reporting period.

Short interest in 1,671 securities on The Nasdaq Capital Market^SM totaled 3,382,557,383 shares at the end of the settlement date of December 31, 2025, compared with 3,369,741,795 shares in 1,683 securities for the previous reporting period. This represents a 1.27 day average daily volume; the previous reporting period’s figure was 1.29.

In summary, short interest in all 5,169 Nasdaq securities totaled 18,565,953,619 shares at the December 31, 2025 settlement date, compared with 5,169 issues and 18,382,401,029 shares at the end of the previous reporting period.
