bmp media investors AG: bmp finances Retresco
Berlin, 26. April 2011
bmp media investors AG (ISIN DE0003304200) has acquired a 25.05% stake in
Retresco GmbH Berlin.
Retresco GmbH, which specialises in semantic searches, information
extraction and real-time aggregation of content, is an innovative idea
resource and implementation service for complex knowledge management
projects. The company was founded in 2008 and has already handled numerous
projects for government institutions in recent years, including for the
Federal Ministry of Health and the State Ministry of Baden-Württemberg.
Retresco also has a great deal of expertise in projects for media
companies. For a large media company based in Berlin/Hamburg Retresco
developed a semantic technology for a personalised, automated news portal
and a new intranet search for editorial teams. Retresco also offers
strategic content management solutions based on semantic search technology
for regional newspapers such as Südwest Presse and Märkische Oderzeitung.
bmp´s investment will allow Retresco to quickly expand its product line to
include a publishing platform, to support the team with highly specialised
staff, and to reinforce its position as one of the leading providers on the
rapidly growing semantic search market.
´Bringing a financial investor on board was the next logical step in
advancing our core business. Restresco and bmp had instant chemistry - our
new partners have a keen sense of the opportunities that lie in semantic
search technologies, ´ explained Alexander Siebert, founder and CEO of
Retresco GmbH.
´Semantic search technologies are becoming more critical in the online
world, regardless of segment. We see an enormous amount of potential that
has been largely untapped on the market. Retresco´s products, expertise and
development have won us over, and we are very pleased to have such an
outstanding addition as Retresco to our media portfolio, ´ says Jens Spyrka,
Executive Board member of bmp media investors AG.
