PATRIZIA completes property transactions worth EUR 8.7 billion
2015 a successful year in investment markets across Europe
- EUR 4.4 billion property acquisitions across Europe
- EUR 2.7 billion or more than half acquired outside of Germany
- EUR 1.5 billion of capital raised through investors
Augsburg, 14 January 2016. PATRIZIA Immobilien AG closed another extremely
successful year in European investment markets in 2015. In total, the
company completed or signed property transactions worth EUR 8.7 billion.
This figure includes all acquisitions and sales of residential and
commercial property carried out by PATRIZIA for its managed funds,
co-investments and its principal investments. In 2015, the transaction
volume more than doubled compared to 2014 (EUR 4.1 billion).
Residential and commercial properties were acquired throughout Europe with
a value of around EUR 4.4 billion. These acquisitions were carried out for
a variety of investment vehicles managed by PATRIZIA (2014: EUR 3.4
billion). PATRIZIA successfully expanded its investment activities outside
of Germany: the value of international acquisitions increased by almost 50
per cent to around EUR 2.7 billion in 2015 (2014: EUR 1.8 billion). "We
have again successfully proven our ability to identify and transact on
off-market acquisitions throughout Europe. In addition we raised around 1.5
billion euros of capital from institutional investors and around a third of
that was outside of Germany", states Wolfgang Egger, CEO of PATRIZIA
Immobilien AG. Around 200 savings banks, cooperative banks, pension fund
institutions, insurance companies and sovereign wealth funds invest through
PATRIZIA throughout Europe.
In 2015, PATRIZIA sold residential and commercial property assets worth
around EUR 4.3 billion (2014: EUR 0.7 billion). These disposals were
dominated by several large transactions. For example in June, Süddeutsche
Wohnen GmbH was sold with just under 20,000 flats for around EUR 1.9
billion. In November, a portfolio with 13,500 flats was sold on for
approximately EUR 1.1 billion.
In Germany, PATRIZIA successfully completed or signed acquisitions of
approximately EUR 1.8 billion (2014: EUR 1.6 billion). Acquisitions
included several retail property portfolios totalling around EUR 750
million. The most important markets outside of Germany are the United
