The Issuer announces that today Alitalia decided to file a petition for the admission to the "amministrazione straordinaria" (extraordinary administration) procedure with the Italian Ministry of Economic Development. Alitalia's shareholders meeting, convened today, noted with deep regret the outcome of the referendum among the employees. The negative vote has determined the inability to implement the relaunch and restructuring of the Company.

The Board of Directors, which convened after the shareholders meeting, having acknowledged the unavailability of the shareholders to refinance, and the impossibility to find in a short period of time an alternative, has decided unanimously to proceed with the filing for "amministrazione straordinaria" (extraordinary administration) in compliance with the Italian law. One or more extraordinary Commissioners are expected to be appointed soon by the Ministry of Economic Development, and will manage the company hence forth. Under this legislative process, the company is also going to file with the Tribunale of Civitavecchia all documentation according to the provisions of the law. Alitalia's flight schedule will continue to operate as planned.
