Ahold share buyback update

Amsterdam, the Netherlands, February 27, 2012 - Ahold has repurchased 3,385,396
Ahold common shares in the period from February 20, 2012 up to and including
February 24, 2012. The shares were repurchased at an average price of EUR 10.8051
per share for a total consideration of EUR 36.58 million. These repurchases were
made as part of the EUR 1 billion share buyback program announced on March
3, 2011.

The total number of shares repurchased under this program to date is 99,800,698
common shares for a total consideration of EUR 928.43 million.
