BOSTON, MA--(Marketwired - Sep 11, 2014) - The Boston Consulting Group (BCG) has earned the number-one ranking on Consulting magazine's 2014 "Best Firms to Work For" list. This builds on other recognitions over the past year, including Fortune magazine's ranking BCG third of "100 Best Companies to Work For" across all industries -- and far above all other consultancies on the list. Reflecting its consistency in creating a great work environment, BCG has now been in the top five of Fortune's all-industry ranking for four straight years and in the top two of Consulting's survey for five consecutive years.

"BCG has been incredibly consistent. The firm has been at or near the top of our Best Firms to Work For rankings every single year [since they debuted in 2001]," noted Consulting's publisher and editor-in-chief, Joseph Kornik, in announcing the results today. "There is no doubt about it and the numbers don't lie -- BCG is the profession's premier place to work this year."

BCG performed strongly across all six facets of employee satisfaction that the annual survey measures: firm culture, career development, compensation and benefits, client engagement, firm leadership, and work-life balance.

Rich Lesser, BCG's president and CEO, said: "The leadership of BCG around the world and across our practices has as its highest priority making BCG the very best place for top talent. It is fundamental to our ability to take on our clients' toughest problems and drive the kind of change and value delivery that they expect. In that context, being named our industry's best firm to work for is an important recognition of the kind of firm and work environment we've created and reinforced."

Lesser attributed BCG's success in workplace surveys to high morale, sustained double-digit growth, and its unique culture. "The firm's relatively low level of hierarchy, strong teaming spirit, tremendous respect for the individual, and high level of aspiration to make a difference in the world are cultural elements that create our lasting foundation. Our people also have significant opportunities to forge their own paths within BCG and to take on an enormous range of challenges."

Tom Reichert, BCG's chairman of North America, added that the firm's investment in its people, career flexibility and mobility, extensive training, high-impact client work, progressive benefits, and commitment to social-impact work have all contributed to its consistently strong showing in surveys.

Consulting's 2014 Best Firms to Work For poll drew detailed employee engagement insights from more 10,000 consultants, representing more than 360 consulting firms. The complete survey findings appear in the magazine's September issue.
