QUITO, ECUADOR--(Marketwired - September 15, 2014) - Wyndham Hotel Group, the world's largest hotel company with approximately 7,540 hotels and part of Wyndham Worldwide Corporation (NYSE: WYN), today announced the signing of a franchise agreement for the Wyndham Quito Airport Gran Condor, the first Wyndham Hotels and Resorts® property in Ecuador's capital city.

The full-service, 146-room property, which is owned by Pronobis, is the only hotel on the new international airport grounds. The property is part of an existing deal to develop and franchise eight hotels in the country under Wyndham Hotel Group brands over 10 years.

Upon opening in late 2015, the hotel will be the fifth Wyndham Hotel Group property operating in Ecuador under Pronobis' ownership, joining the Wyndham Guayaquil, the first Wyndham Hotels and Resorts property to open in Ecuador, and three Howard Johnson® hotels currently operating in Quito, Guayaquil and Loja.

"Featured by Yahoo! Travel as number eight on the 'Hot List' of the World's Top 10 Countries and listed as a 2014 top destination by CNN and The New York Times, Ecuador is not only an attractive destination for adventurers but also serves as an excellent showcase for our brands," said Paulo Pena, president and managing director of Latin America for Wyndham Hotel Group. "We are pleased to expand upon our successful partnership with Pronobis and look forward to continued growth for the Wyndham® brand in Ecuador and throughout Latin America."

Wyndham Quito Airport Gran Condor will be situated within the Mariscal Sucre international Airport development, allowing travelers easy access to the airport and central Quito. Services and amenities will include an onsite restaurant, lobby bar, pool, gym and spa facilities. The hotel will also offer four 77-square-meter meeting rooms that can be converted to a large 300-square-meter conference room.

"Hospitality is one of the most important drivers of our new business model," said Sergio Torassa, CEO of Pronobis. "We are convinced of Ecuador's great potential in tourism and are delighted to strengthen our relationship with our partner Wyndham Hotel Group, the largest hotel company in the world."

About the hotel, Torassa acknowledged, "The hotel's spectacular design is inspired by the Condor; this bird is a symbol of our country's heritage and plays an important role in Andean region mythology. It will be an icon and a very distinctive element when our guests arrive in Quito."

Wyndham Hotel Group is focused on rapid expansion in Latin America with 127 hotels open in the region as of June 30, 2014, 29 of which operate under the Wyndham Hotels and Resorts brand. Since 2012, two Wyndham-branded resorts in Panama have joined the portfolio. The first Wyndham hotels opened in Ecuador, Colombia and Peru last year, and the first Wyndham resort in Nicaragua is scheduled to open in 2015. Additionally, the company announced the signing of a franchise agreement for the first Wyndham-branded resort in Costa Rica last week.
