SUNNYVALE, CA and BEIJING, CHINA--(Marketwired - Sep 25, 2014) - Ayla Networks, a leading provider of Agile Internet of Things (IoT) platforms, today announced that is has obtained a license to serve as an Internet Content Provider (ICP) in the People's Republic of China, a significant milestone that will permit Ayla to collaborate with manufacturers, web sites, social networks and others to build a nationwide framework for IoT in one of the fastest growing markets in the world.

As the only IoT platform provider that has become licensed as an ICP, Ayla will work closely with local companies in China to develop new, innovative products and services for both the business and consumer markets in China. The heart of Ayla's new offering will be a cloud platform hosted in China dedicated to the domestic market. Ayla's service in China will go live in Q4 2014 with the debut of its first customer, Devotion Domestic Boilers, which will release a line of Internet-connected water heaters.

Ayla will also work with Chinese companies to develop products for other markets in North America, Europe, Asia and non-OECD nations. Likewise, Ayla will also help international companies bring products to China, making it the first dedicated IoT company with truly global capabilities. As part of this effort, Ayla has opened a development lab and prototype manufacturing center in Shenzhen, the manufacturing center of China, which will focus on software development, localization, product design, design for manufacturability, Internet security and other issues.

"China will be a leader in IoT. Many of the products that will be ubiquitous ten years from now will emerge from the experiences of entrepreneurs and consumers across China with IoT today. It is also where social networks and the network for things will converge," said Dave Friedman, co-founder and CEO of Ayla Networks. "At Ayla, our goal is to enable the control of 'things' all from within the social network app, which China is at the forefront of. We started that journey, working with SINA/Weibo, and are very excited to be participating in this technology transformation with other social networks in China."
