- Sales boosted by 3.5% across the Group in the first nine months despite
a sector-wide difficult third quarter
- EBITDA up by 50.4% and recurring by 20.6%
- Gross profit margin for the Group rises to 56.8%
- Operating cash flow goes up to EUR 46.8 million
- For the first time in two years positive net income for the period
after three quarters
- Outlook for the business year 2014 adjusted due to unfavourable weather
conditions
Hamburg, 6 November 2014. The TOM TAILOR GROUP performed well in the first
nine months of 2014 and further increased its sales and profitability. As
already published in the preliminary figures, the Group increased sales by
3.5% to EUR 679.1 million from January to September 2014 (previous year:
EUR 656.0 million). The main growth drivers were the wholesale activities
of the TOM TAILOR brand which achieved a strong sales increase of 9.9%. The
warm temperatures in September and the decrease in customer footfall led to
a significantly weaker development particularly in the retail segment which
was partially compensated by the wholesale segment. The recurring earnings
before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortisation (EBITDA) rose across
the Group by 20.6% to EUR 56.9 million (previous year: EUR 47.2 million)
during the first nine months. The reported EBITDA improved significantly
and increased by 50.4% to EUR 54.9 million (previous year: EUR 36.5
million). All sales channels contributed to this positive development.
During the year under review, the Group achieved a net income for the
period amounting to EUR 1.8 million (previous year: EUR -13.9 million) for
the first time since two years.
"The TOM TAILOR GROUP has determinedly continued its growth path with the
focus on profitability and also performed well during a sector-wide
difficult summer quarter. We succeeded in further increasing profitability
and achieved a positive net income for the Group. We are particularly
pleased that BONITA has also contributed to this positive development for
the first time. This confirms our strategy of continuing to focus on the
qualitative improvement in sales at BONITA," said Dieter Holzer, Chief
Executive Officer of TOM TAILOR Holding AG.
