London UK, 13 November 2014 - Dialog Semiconductor plc (FWB: DLG), a
provider of highly integrated power management, AC/DC, solid-state lighting
and Bluetooth(R) Smart wireless technology, today announced that its
custom-developed, configurable D2260 power management IC (PMIC) will power
LG Electronics' recently launched NUCLUN Octa-Core application processor.
NUCLUN utilizes the ARM(R) big.LITTLE(TM) architecture to provide highly
efficient multi-tasking capabilities. The high-performance NUCLUN has four
1.5 GHz Cortex(R)-A15 cores and four energy-efficient 1.2 GHz Cortex(R)-A7
cores for less intensive processing tasks. NUCLUN is designed to support
next-generation 4G networks, LTE-A Cat.6, for download speeds of up to
225Mbps while retaining backward compatibility with current LTE networks.
The first LG smartphone platform to use this solution has recently been
launched by LG and also includes Dialog's DA9210 sub PMIC. The DA9210 is a
multiphase DC-DC buck converter with a high level of functional
integration. It features dynamic voltage control so that its output voltage
responds instantaneously to changes in processor load enhancing the
capabilities of high-end Smartphones.
"Our ability to offer custom PMICs while delivering the highest power
efficiency has allowed us to provide LG with a very competive power
management solution," said Udo Kratz, Senior Vice President and General
Manager, Business Group Mobile Systems at Dialog Semiconductor. "The
addition of LG as our latest tier 1 smartphone customer positions Dialog as
a proud provider of power-saving technology ICs to the top 10 global
Smartphone OEMs," added Kratz.
