QUEBEC CITY, QUEBEC--(Marketwired - Nov. 27, 2014) - Mr. Pierre Dion, president and CEO of Quebecor, is proud to announce the acquisition of the Quebec Remparts of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League. Mr. Jacques Tanguay, who has been a Remparts shareholder since 1997, will be staying on as team president.

"The Remparts organization has passion, hard work and success in its DNA. We are honoured to become its owners, and we want to continue this 'sacred' tradition by keeping the Remparts at the same level of excellence while providing the best possible experience for Quebec City hockey fans," said Pierre Dion.

Quebecor confirms that the Remparts will be moving into the new arena in September 2015. "The arena belongs to the people of Quebec City, and we felt it was crucial to offer them hockey as soon as it opens," added Pierre Dion.

Jacques Tanguay and his partners are very happy with this transaction. "For 16 years, we played on the ice of the Colisée Pepsi and, during that time, we received tremendous support from hundreds of thousands of fans and loyal business partners. The City of Quebec and its population just invested 400 million dollars to build a new arena for future generations, so it was crucial for us to make sure that Quebec City hockey fans would benefit from it. I wish to thank Pierre Dion and his entire organization - the building's new managers - to allow us this continuity and to show us such confidence by letting us operate their new property," said Jacques Tanguay.

Mr. Dion wished to emphasize the very special contribution the former owners have made to the team's success since 1997. "Jacques's attachment to his city, to sports, to hockey and to the Remparts is admirable! Jacques is a long-standing business partner for whom we have great respect, and we enjoy working with him."

Quebecor is very happy to be able to rely on the expertise of a seasoned front office that will be led by Jacques Tanguay as president and Louis Painchaud as director of operations. Quebecor is committed to maintaining the organization's philosophy. "Inspired by the relationship of respect and loyalty that exists between the Remparts and the team's fans and business partners, Quebecor will continue to offer an affordable hockey offering for the whole family," added Pierre Dion.

Quebec Major Junior Hockey League commissioner Gilles Courteau said the following: "I am very happy to see that the Remparts will have the chance to inaugurate the new arena next season and continue the Vieille Capitale's great junior hockey tradition. Quebecor is a dynamic company that will bring both continuity and viability to our sport for years to come."
