The Ritz-Carlton, Bangalore to Raise Funds for Operation Smile

BANGALORE, INDIA--(Marketwired - Apr 28, 2014) - It takes little more than a large slice of cake to bring joy to a child's face, but for those with cleft lips or palates, a simple smile can often be a painful experience. In an effort to bring smiles to affected children around the world, The Ritz-Carlton properties across Asia, including this hotel in Bangalore, will participate in Smile Asia Week from May 5-11, 2014.

From now until May 11th, Smile Asia Week will enlist the help of nearly 10,000 ladies and gentlemen of The Ritz-Carlton at 20 hotels, all of whom will work to raise funds for Operation Smile through the sales of specially crafted, limited edition cakes.

While chocolate is the primary ingredient used in the cakes across the region, each country's pastry chef created their own recipe based on local flavors. Deep Mohan Bajaj, pastry chef of this luxury hotel in Bangalore, paid homage to the spectacular coffee basin of Karnataka by creating a special cake that blends Coorg coffee and Arriba Belgian chocolate.

The cakes from all nine participating countries are available exclusively online at smileasiaweek.org, and all proceeds go directly to the charitable organization, which will use the funds to perform 500 life-changing surgeries.

Participation in Smile Asia Week is part of the ongoing commitment by The Ritz-Carlton to expand global citizenship through its Community Footprints program, which encourages social and environmental responsibility.
