REDWOOD SHORES, CA--(Marketwired - Oct 29, 2014) - iPass Inc. (NASDAQ: IPAS), the world's largest commercial Wi-Fi network, today announced a range of significant changes to its Open Mobile client for the Android operating system. Based on feedback from iPass customers, these revisions will improve the user experience by making it even easier to connect to an iPass hotspot.

With the new version of the iPass app, the first thing a user sees when they open the app is a list of available hotspots. This will provide Android users with one-click connectivity from inside the iPass client, making the user experience simpler and more intuitive.

iPass has also introduced a feature that allows users to predefine their home network or other favorite hotspot. This is particularly helpful for connectivity in metropolitan areas where a greater number of available networks can result in users not being automatically connected to their home network or the best available hotspot. Devices can now be made to understand exactly which hotspots to connect to, giving users a smoother connectivity experience in busy Wi-Fi locations. Furthermore, iPass has replaced its full list of downloadable hotspots with a data-friendly "travel preferences" option. Upon registration, the client will now prompt users with an option to download only the hotspot information that they require based on their travel preferences.

"The majority of our users are business travelers who want connectivity to be as quick and frictionless as possible," said Barbara Nelson, iPass' SVP and Chief Technology Officer. "Their valuable feedback has enabled us to make the user experience work the way they want it to. Our updated Open Mobile client for Android will now take iPass' already reliable Wi-Fi access to another level, so that subscribers can quickly get online and simply get on with what they need to do, wherever they are in the world."
