Press Release from Adler Modemärkte AG
ADLER Advances Its Multi-Channel Concept
ADLER Expands Online Sales Organisation
Ralf Reckmann Named Head of E-Commerce
Haibach (near Aschaffenburg), 10 November 2014. Adler Modemärkte AG - one
of Germany's largest textile retailers - is strengthening its online sales
organisation and aims to significantly increase revenue generated through
its online shop this financial year.
In order to accelerate this expansion, multi-channel specialist Ralf
Reckmann has been named Head of ADLER's e-commerce unit. He has been
overseeing the Company's online sales activities since October. Mr Reckmann
has many years of experience in e-commerce. From 1988 to 2006, he held a
variety of leadership positions within the Karstadt Group, where he
specialised in the sports fashion industry. Most recently, he served as
managing director at RDC GmbH, a consulting firm which serves clients such
as Vorwerk, Häfele and Arvato.
"Expanding our multi-channel concept will enable us to dovetail our online
offerings even better with our brick-and-mortar business and existing
customer base, and we are pleased to have Ralf Reckmann at our side in
doing so", said Lothar Schäfer, ADLER's CEO.
ADLER's online shop will be expanded to include new sales segments by the
time the coming spring/summer collection hits the stores, and service
processes will be further refined; this also includes same-day delivery.
The aim is to tailor our appeal and service to customers through the online
shop. The improved offering will revolve around a new "shop-in-shop"
concept for plus sizes. Given the scope of investment required to expand
the online offering, the estimated break-even point for ADLER's e-commerce
activities has been pushed back from 2015 to 2017. Online activities are
expected to grow significantly in the coming years.
In contrast to pure-play e-commerce outfitters, ADLER's online strategy
will benefit from the brick-and-mortar stores and vice versa. For instance,
customers can pick up the merchandise they purchased online at ADLER stores
("Click & Collect") and, if necessary, they can exchange or return
merchandise and accessorise their purchases after in-store consultation.
Adler Modemärkte AG, headquartered in Haibach near Aschaffenburg, Germany,
is one of Germany's largest and most important textile retailers. In 2013,
the Group generated revenue of EUR528.6 million with a workforce of around
