KTG Agrar SE successfully defied the challenging market environment for the
agricultural sector in 2015
- Group sales revenues climb EUR 92.4 million to EUR 326.5 million
- Operating result up EUR 4.4 million to EUR 59.0 million
- Growth driven by Bio-Zentrale and carbon-neutral energy production
- Concentration on healthy eating: organic, vegan, vegetarian
- Refinancing process fully to plan
Hamburg, 24 May 2016. As a leading agricultural producer, KTG Agrar SE
(ISIN: DE000A0DN1J4) continued its sustainable operation with determination
in 2015. The year 2015 showed how unpredictable the global agricultural
markets can be and how important it is to have a diversified business
model. 2015 was characterised by strong harvests across the globe and,
consequently, by low product prices. At the same time, however, draughts
led to considerably reduced harvests in individual regions, most
importantly the once-in-a-century draught in Romania, and even Germany
recorded harvests below the statistical average. While such developments
are an exception, they may happen after all. Building on over 20 years
experience in large-scale farming, KTG Agrar has prepared itself for such
situations and made comprehensive investments, e.g. as much as EUR 300
million in the energy segment alone. This allowed the company to
successfully defy the challenging market environment in the agricultural
sector. At EUR 326.5 million, Group sales revenues were up by 39% on the
previous year and clearly passed the EUR 300 million mark for the first
time. The dynamic growth was driven by carbon-neutral energy production,
conventional farming and the strong performance of Bio-Zentrale. On the
earnings side, KTG increased its operating result (EBITDA) from EUR 54
million to EUR 59 million. In spite of this challenging market environment,
the company generated a positive result for the year of EUR 3.6 million
(previous year: EUR 6.4 million).
"The present business model of KTG Agrar is unique in that it combines the
production of high-quality food "from field to the plate" with the
generation of renewable energy. This protects us from fluctuations in the
prices of agricultural products." says Siegfried Hofreiter, CEO of KTG
Agrar SE. "Following years of investment and expansion - during which we
have increased our sales revenues more than twentyfold from EUR 15 million
