Frankfurt Airport (FRA) welcomed 5.7 million passengers in the
reporting month - growing by a noticeable 4.3 percent and setting a
new October record. In comparison, the 2014 October statistics were
influenced by Lufthansa's two-day pilot strike. This was also
reflected in October 2015 by the growth rates registered for aircraft
movements and accumulated maximum takeoff weights (MTOWs). Aircraft
movements advanced by 1.5 percent to 42,572 takeoffs and landings.
MTOWs grew by 2.8 percent to set a new record of some 2.7 million
metric tons. FRA's cargo throughput (airfreight + airmail) fell by
1.5 percent to 185,222 metric tons.
Fraport AG's international airport portfolio achieved mainly
positive results for passenger traffic in October 2015. Ljubljana
Airport (LJU) in Slovenia greeted 128,478 passengers, representing a
significant 9.4 percent traffic surge compared to the same month last
year. Serving 1.6 million passengers, Lima Airport (LIM) in the
capital of Peru recorded strong growth of 11.7 percent. The Bulgarian
Black Sea airports of Varna (VAR) and Burgas (BOJ) saw traffic rise
by 10.5 percent to 86,290 passengers. Antalya Airport (AYT) on the
Turkish Riviera experienced a slight 0.8 percent drop in traffic to
2.8 million passengers. St Petersburg's Pulkovo Airport (LED) in
Russia declined by 5.1 percent to 1.1 million passengers, due to the
weak domestic economy. At Hanover Airport (HAJ) in northern Germany,
traffic climbed by 1.8 percent to 581,355 passengers. Traffic figures
at Xi'an Airport (XIY) in central China advanced by 8.7 percent to
2.9 million passengers.
