TORONTO, ON--(Marketwired - July 07, 2014) - Scotiabank today announced a $25,000 donation to local relief efforts through the Canadian Red Cross to support communities affected by flooding in Saskatchewan and Manitoba.

"It is important to Scotiabank to contribute to the relief efforts in our communities during this difficult time," said Laurie Stang, Scotiabank Senior Vice President, Prairie Region. "We recognize that many of Scotiabank's customers, employees and friends have been affected by the flooding and want to support the work that's being done to help those in need."

Scotiabank is also helping customers directly affected by the floods with deferral of personal loan payments; deferral of personal mortgage loan principal and interest payments and special accommodations for commercial and agricultural customers affected by the flooding, on a case-by-case basis.

Scotiabank branches across Canada will be accepting donations from the public and all funds will go to the Canadian Red Cross. The campaign will run until August 4, 2014. Funds donated will go to providing immediate relief to flood victims, as well as to meet longer-term needs for affected local residents.
