    NEW YORK, NY--(Marketwired - March 02, 2015) - Infor, a leading provider of business application software serving more than 73,000 customers, will sponsor the third season of Twin Cities Public Television's (tpt) national series SciGirls. The funding of SciGirls, a PBS television series and popular web destination for young people ages 8-13, showcases girls using science and engineering in their daily lives and encourages them to pursue careers in related fields.

    Infor understands that today's conversations, connections and careers are powered by computer science and software. But the computer science -- what makes our technological devices work -- is hidden beneath the interfaces of our devices. These user-friendly and easy interfaces create confusion around what it means to be "computer literate;" for example, interacting with apps and social media like Facebook or Twitter is very different from making, tweaking or understanding the technology. For that reason, Infor is investing for the first time to support and partner with SciGirls. This gift will play an essential role in educating young people about the careers available in computer science, and how those jobs positively impact our communities -- and our world.

    In addition to recognition on the upcoming third television season, Infor is also hosting a "Fash Bash" on March 12 at its New York Headquarters. This fun, STEM-filled event will give kids an up-close look -- and a hands-on opportunity -- to check out the Infor software currently used by design, textile and fashion industries, and talk to the creative innovators who work in these fields.
